Mmmmmm..Sanders Hot Fudge...

mmmm paczki's! How many months until Paczki day? Believe it or not, my small little town donut shop has a REAL recipe for paczkis! I doubted them, since mine had always come from Hamtramk, but darnit they're the real deal!

Thanks for the memories with the Faygo song! I can almost feel kidless, bill-less and carefree! They should really bring that song back!

Colesmom>> Where are you up north? I'm trying to remember where we were because it was for a hockey tournament, but I believe it was Alpena or Gladwin that had a REAL Detroit coney dog place!

On a similar story, our new pizza place in town has a coney dog pizza. They made it two different ways when I ordered it twice and when I ordered it the third time I asked what the normal order of ingredients was because I wanted it in the hot dog/chili/onion/mustard order. When I got there to pick up the owner asked me where I was from. Well, we've lived in this small town for almost 20 years (my DD was 3 when we moved here and my son has only known one house his entire life) but I told him I was raised closer to the city. He said he knew a coney connoisseur when he heard my request. I complimented him on his chili and he said,"Detroit chili co chili!" It turns out the only people ordering this weird pizza are us raised near Detroit people!

I have heard of all the problems with the mayor..is that who got arrested? and he is still in office? Only in Detroit...Murder City..

Coleman Young was in office when I left.

OK, what is the scoop with John Kelly, Marilyn Turner (the gasping weather girl when I was younger), and Bill Bonds? Need to know this stuff...

Have you guys ever seen the show Arli$$ on Hbo when they say,"One thing is for certain in Detroit - someone is going to get shot." They say it over and over in that episode. Dh and I can't stop saying that line whenever we go into the city. LOL

Kwame is the new lying no good mayor. He needs to leave.

I don't know what Kelly and Turner are doing, but they've been retired forever. Bill Bonds does Gardner White furniture commercials and bad lawyer commercials. 1800callsam.

Young.... need mo money for the people mover. I have to say, the people mover does work!

OMG, OMG...You found BUMPY CAKE!!!

This was the birthday cake of choice at my In-Laws for everyone's birthday. I don't think Sander's was where my MIL got it, it was the Machus bakery. (Machus-Fox restaurants) I found one of these in the bargain area at Walmart Super Center's bakery HERE about 4 months ago. It was actually OK, considering where it came from!!

Bloodhound, the shooter sounds great..would be a little greater with Sander's, but you gotta get what you can get...LOL..

For those who remember :lmao:

From 1910 to 1920, Hamtramck Michigan grew from 3,589 to 45,615
residents, leading the nation in growth for that period.

When the territory of Michigan was created on Jan.11, 1805, Detroit
was chosen as its capital.

Michigan's first police woman began walking the beat in Detroit in
1893.
Opened in 1904, the nation's oldest freshwater aquarium is the Belle

Isle Aquarium.

You took a 'moonlight cruise' to Bob-Lo with Captain Bob-Lo or

went to Edgewater Amusement Park.

You shopped at Hughes and Hatcher, B Siegel, Peck and Peck,
Himelhoch's, Robert Hall, Crowley's, Shoppers Fair, EJ Korvettes or
Federals.

You rode the elevator at J. L. Hudson's, which was 'run' by an
elevator operator.

You remember a Winkleman's and Sanders store in your neighborhood.

You remember Twin Pines Dairy delivered milk and juice to the
chute on the side of your house and Milky the Clown performed magic
with the magic words 'Twin Pines.'

:) Can I have a boston cooler now please?

Many of my relatives helped fill up Hamtramck!

I remember all of those, except the midnight cruises, but my father told me all about them! WAIT.. I was not old enough to remember Michigan becoming a state, but hey, I teach it so that makes me there, right? LOL

Dh's grandpa was a twin pines milkman

I got my first job at 16 years old working at the Sanders at Eastland Mall. I ate soooo many sundaes during the two years I worked there! Hot fudge cream puffs were my personal favorites. I can't even remember the last time I had one, but I know I could go for one right now!

Oh, and Bill Bonds? DH and I were out to dinner back in May, and Bill Bonds was sitting at the table across from ours. So, he is still around!

Is he still in the Orchard Lake area?

I just mentioned hot fudge to DH and he SANG, "Hot fudge, right on! Comin' at ya now"

Who remembers that show?

How about Sir Graves Ghastly? I had a picture on his show once!

The Ghoul

and..."You've got an uncle in the furniture business, Joshua door."

Remember Bargain town before toys r us? We were excited to go there and get to LOOK! not buy, LOOK!

Is he still on the wagon:confused3

LMAO!!! Whenever I am on Commerce Rd going towards Orchard Lake Rd, through those curves, I think OH **** he's going to hit us head on! My brother currently lives in that area off of Cass Lake.

(after my wayne westland years I lived off of Commerce rd towards Milford)

I'm not sure. We were having dinner at Woodward/Long Lake.

I saw Sir Graves Ghastly at a mall appearance when I was about 7 or 8! My older brother was a huge fan of The Ghoul.

That's close enough so I'm assuming he's still terrorizing Commerce Rd!

Speaking of Woodward and Long Lake...Fox and Hounds is gone, right? DH's and my third date was there... the rest is history! :)

We had our wedding there! I was so sad, they tore it down just after our 19th anniversary. I always thought it would be nice to have our 20th anniversary dinner there, but we were one year off.
