MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Thanks, Barb! I'm going to talk it over with Tom.

I think I'll go to Ace Hardware. It's a beautiful day, I need more miniature lights and I'm weird cause I love a good hardware store! Oh, and there's no food there, or is there?

Lisa - my Ace Hardware sells the best hot dogs ever! Lisa, both you and Tom are successful on Step 2, just stick with it. I've been on Step 2 since the end of September, and while I'm not losing fast, I still know I'm losing, so slow and steady will win this race for me!

Don't overanalyze. I know that's hard for us.

Good morning everyone! I'm really twisting my gut around thinking. I wouldn't have made it through Thanksgiving without everyone helping me. And everything costs so much here. I'm really thinking of going to school and then heading back north, or somewhere that it doesn't cost so much to live. I know it sounds trivial, but I've got myself worked up to a state. What is keeping me balanced is things like considering Dennis and Natalie's mom, and realizing it could be a lot worse.

Pony, I wasn't trying to increase your frustration. What I was trying to say and probably didn't do well is that I'm thinking whatever step works for you, it would be better to stick to it instead of mixing the two. Or if you want to try something in between ex: 8 carbs, then do that exact amount every five hours. I'm thinking the back and forth might be the thing that messes with your system. Whatever you decide though we'll all be here to help you through it. Worse case scenario, whatever carb amount you chose doesn't work and you'll end up back on one anyway. Which I know really depresses you. :)

Lisa, stay where you are. It's working. I think your doing like I do, trying to tweak things to speed things up. In my opinion that is heading for trouble land.

Kathy  I hope you have a wonderful day. Just think how much nicer the house will feel all cleaned up! It will be nice to have it clean while your putting up the decorations too!

Barb, I'm glad your doing so well. I'm proud of you also for recognizing old patterns!

Ok, I better check the bank and stuff before the farmer gets going.

Nell, honey, take a deep breath and BREATHE! Do you need to move before school? Has Marti had any luck with her disability filings? I know sometimes things start to look a little gray, and then we can cause our own minds to spiral out of control. Go take care of your farm and relax. We are all doing fine!

Kathy--how to do watch Dr. Oz on the computer?? I missed the first 8 minutes and I feel like I missed alot! I know he was talking about the XMRV virus that they're now saying is whats causing chronic fatigue--want to get that testing done--thanks

Hi Melanie! If this has been answered, sorry. To be honest, I've never watched it on the computer. I would assume just go to his website, and there would be a link to it if you look under perhaps the date.

Hi Everyone,
I'm still pluggin' away on Step 1. I feel great and feel my waist has gone down. I signed up for a bootcamp class. It started on Mon. and is held Mon./Wed./Fri. at 6:20 am. I almost didn't get out of bed on Monday because I was nervous. When I got there and saw a couple of young girls going in, I almost turned around to go home. But....I went in and 1/2 way thru I said to myself -'I'm not coming back'. But I did and Wednesday was a lot of fun. There were stations and you did what was there until the instructor whistled and then you jog 2x around the gym and go to the next station. It was really tough, but when it was over I was excited that I did it. Today was a lot of running drills and a little bit of weights. I'm hoping this will help to accelerate my losses.

Robin - I'm so sorry to hear about your friends. You are all in my prayers.

I finally ordered Julian Bread. It's on it's way! I also ordered the flax meal to try those muffins. I ordered low carb hamburger buns too - has anyone tried them?

Next Thursday my sisters and I are going to the Rachel Ray show. I hope she gives away something good! She had such a big giveaway the week of Thanksgiving - I wish I would have been at that taping!! Today Ellen gave away $1,400 worth of stuff to her audience. Keep your fingers crossed that we get something special.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow! We are going to a great Christmas fair, so it should be fun. :santa:

Enjoy the evening!

OK, WOW, We all need to quit freaking out today!!! I am so sorry, I feel like I opened a big can of worms...

Lisa - YOU are doing GREAT, so dont mess with anything!! Just keep doing what you're doing!! IGNORE ME!! Im a Pain in the Butt sometimes!!

Nell - FOCUS!! LOL, its working well for you too, and it sounds like you are in control, with your current schedule ot feeding times and all...LOL, have to let the "farmer" on the computer!

Barb - I think I messed up when I said I was going to tweak the plan...If Diane says so, I am going to do EXACTLY what you are doing...stay on step 1 through my loss phase adn then transition to step 2 for a maintenance phase....step 1 worked for both of us, and I figure I will be fine there for however long I need to be!!

Diane - good to hear from you and great job at your bootcamp!!

Bev - sorry, didnt mean to ditch you this morning on FB, but I was getting a call from Ricky...he wated to bring Dennis home this morning but the hospital wouldnt release him since he was in so much pain...I have no idea what they will do next. Glad you are still losing too! Slow and steady is never a bad thing!

Thanks, everyone! I went for a drive and thank goodness my Ace Hardware has NO HOT DOGS! I can think best when I drive or vacuum and the house is already clean, lol! I realized today my new jeans are looser than when I got them - and that was recently, so I'm staying where I am. I got really scared that everyone wasn't having success and that maybe it was my imagination. Thanks Beverly especially for reinforcing Step 2! I then took a nap. Tom worked late last night and I don't sleep well when he's gone sometimes so I think I was very overly tired and emotional today. Feeling better and eating crackers and cheese!

Diane, good for you for sticking it out in boot camp :thumbsup2 I'll keep my fingers crossed that Rachel Ray has some great goods for you

Lisa, the blood pressure cuff wasn't even slightly tight on my arm yesterday at Walgreens. By the way, my blood pressure has been running around 113/73. If it goes any lower I think I'll have to call the doctor to lower the medication. I also am reading 294 on the scale now. It is definitely working! Marti is freaking out a little by my playing with my jello belly. I'm constantly jiggling it like a kid chasing someone with a worm. Ewww :scared1: I'm so mean. It's bizarre and kind of cool though. I really have to get some kind of girdle thing though.

Pony, I don't think it's a can of worms as much as us all tripping over each other to make sure everyone is doing ok. This group is so supportive of one another.

Thank goodness, our Lisa is back  Don't trust your imagination, trust your jeans

Robin: I don't know if this would help anyone but you, but just in case...Tom uses this machine at the gym that is adjustable and has pulleys. What his first trainer had him doing was holding his hands out straight together with it and turning very slowly to one side. Just last week, he switched with a new trainer to pulling it out to about a 45 degree angle and then throwing a punch with it extending further with more speed at that angle. I don't know if you can visualize it, but your trainer might know what I mean. Tom holds his weight in his middle and has stubborn side fat, even though you can't really pinch him. He believes this is what has trimmed the 1/2 inch off his waist this week.

Diane, good for you for sticking it out in boot camp :thumbsup2 I'll keep my fingers crossed that Rachel Ray has some great goods for you

Diane: I completely second all these motions!!!! You should hold up some kind of scarf or something and tell us what day it's going to air so we can see you! We don't know how to find you!:cutie:

You are hysterical! My blood pressure is low too, but it always has been. You should talk to the doctor. We don't want you fainting! Try some massage and cream for the jiggle belly, lol! I took a nap and we are going to grab some dinner - catch you later, maybe?

Lisa - I CAN embroider!! Cant wait to find some spare time to do that for you!! LOL, darn, no sewing smiley!!

Diane -sorry forgot to mention the Rachel Ray thing...SO JEALOUS!! We love her and would love to see the show...Ellen too for that matter! Hope you get some great stuff! Most of it usually is!!

Barb - Sounds like an MM Mantra to me..."Dont trust your imagination, trust your jeans" !!!

Nell - I have that jiggly fat on my inner thighs, since losing inches there...even with all the treadmilling, its still jiggly! i think we need to dip ourselves in liquid spandex!! I wonder if Spanx has anything that goes from wrists to ankles? :yay:

I love you all and am praying we all have an awesome day tomorrow, after a good nights sleep tonite...except for me of course...home by midnite then leave the house at 7am tomorrow and work another 14 hour day! OMG!

Robin: Have you heard from Diane lately? I am a bit confused by some of your statements because you told me that Step 2 wasn't working for anyone but me, Nell and Tom but then you said others have lost a lot and you are comparing yourself to them. I can really see that you are frustrated and I hope you and Diane find the solution that is right for you. If you are a 'rare bird' your formula may be different than what she recommends for the rest of us. I bet you look terrific anyway after all that exercise and you probably feel much more like your old self.

Thanks, Barb! Hug received. Is veering working for anyone as far as better results? Hope so, if so! I am so tired of having a problem and I need the solution to be at hand. I honestly don't think I have any more experimentation left in me.

Natalie: Are you still seeing Diane?

I was supposed to go back to her after 8 weeks on step one but I couldn't make it and now I'm thinking of using the money for my fibro/cfs. I'm reading so much about that new retrovirus they've found the XMRV that they have found to cause cfs. I'll post websites. Taking a bunch of supplements now--sleeping better on cal/mag at night before bed. the research is saying they see a link from this retrovirus to cfs AND autism!! this could explain alot about my son!! my brain hurts though............much love to you, keep doing what you're doing-its working for you:love:

Lisa - I got a call from a woman at the Rachel Ray show and she asked if I would be interested in a segment on Fun Fashion. She said on Thursday they're taping a segment on fashions for the holidays that people of every body type can wear. She asked my height, body type and what part of my body I look to camouflage. I said my stomach and she said 'that's what everybody says!'. She said she was in preliminary plans and would get back to me. So... if I get to be part of that it will be easy to spot me! :happytv:

 Oh boy! you can give a shout out to us :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Diane - hope that works out for you, it would be so much fun!!

Going to bed, early morning and long day ahead...nite all...no word from Diane yet so she must be busy or out of town!!

So many thoughts about carbs!!! I think Barb and I got this going by saying we liked step 1 and found the extra carbs just too many on step 2 – especially when Robin said she was having blood sugar issues.

This was not intended to get you thinking about doing something else, Lisa. I don’t know if you are on the high end of the 11-20 carb dams, but if you are you might try the lower end and see if you look thinner for Christmas. You have been getting into so many new clothes that you should be thrilled with your progress. As I read further I’m glad to see you are happy where you are and your clothes are getting looser. You really can’t ask for more than that. I’m sorry you are tired again, though.

I don’t know if any of you have used Fitday. It is a bit difficult when putting a lot of things into a recipe, but easy for plain food! I have a recipe program that I use for things such as my chili and then put a serving size into Fitday. I haven’t used it since I have been eating the MM way, but it might be interesting to see just how many carbs we are really ingesting and how many calories. When you count veggies, cottage cheese, peanut butter, etc, etc., we are eating a lot of food – even on step 1. Adding in the extra 50+ carbs on step 2 makes a LOT of carbs – especially for people who are sensitive to carbs.

Robin – are you the only one with type 2 diabetes? I know Diane says it can’t be cured, but controlled. And…. There is still the thyroid question. Have you looked at any of the thyroid support sites? You might have to go back to LCF and read about people on low carb with thyroid problems. There are probably other sites, but I do know there are several topics about it on LCF. Does Diane mention the condition? I can’t remember.

Diane – how much fun to get to go tto Rachel Ray’s and be part of a fashion show. Do let us know when it will be aired.

Spanx from neck to ankle??? Can you imagine what that would cost???? Yikes. It would certainly smooth things out, though!!:cutie:

Hi Nell – yes, we all have a lot to be thankful for when we hear the serious health problems of Robin’ friends, Kate’s niece and Natalie’s mother. Just hang in there. Do you have an option of where you can go to school?

Natalie – I hope the treatments are successful for your mother. Have you been near her? I believe you said she did not live near you.

Kathy – have fun decorating your tree. Wish I could share my weather with you. I have always been a fair weather type of person. We used to do a lot of skiing, but I needed blue, sunny skies to enjoy it!! We always went to Tahoe just before Christmas with friends so had some snow and then came home for Christmas Day. :santa:

I have now read through today’s posts. People’s thoughts changed as I read along. I was going to delete the first part of my ramble, but decided to leave it in. I do think most everyone has found an eating plan that works for the time being. After the holidays and when spring starts to show it face, people will be willing to re-asses what is comfortable for them.

Had a great time at the luncheon – fashion show today. The clothes were by the person I buy my Hawaiian dresses from. They have added some other styles, too. I haven’t been there for a while, but will venture over next week. They had models in all sizes and ages which was nice. Do any of you use Bragg’s products? His daughter was there today. She is a cute lady in her 80’s. I guess she still does a lot of speaking about health issues. I know a lot of people use their amino acids and vinegars, etc.. Maybe I should look into it???????

I have been asked to bring my cheese crackers to a party tomorrow night. They always seem to be a hit. I have several ripe avocados; too so will make some guacamole to go with them.

Sorry for the long ramble. I’ll understand if you've quit half way through!!

Have a great MM day with all your families.

Love to ALL:love:
