MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Dearest Barb, We are your soft place to fall. I understand how you could be sad at your daughter leaving. I will feel the same at the end of the month. Fatigue triggered me in the past, too. My body kept looking for energy in food and it was never there! Well, really I guess it was there, but I was doing it wrong because it gives me energy now. It's not in the sugar or tortilla chips, though, lol! Are you doing ok on Step 1 today?:cutie:

Jocelyn, That's awesome there are 2 Bowen Therapists near you. You should make an appointment. It's so gentle, you wonder how it could be doing anything and then you are all put back together!:confused3

I tried on two jersey dresses today that I had bought for 'someday'. Someday is here! :cloud9:

:woohoo::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::woohoo:

Isn't that exciting!!!

One of the therapists has an address - as far from me as you can get on the island! The other one doesn't have an address - just a number. I'll see where she is located.

Good evening everyone! What a beautiful day here today! Mike and I took Tyson for a nice long stroll this afternoon. Left around noon and got back around 4. We took him over to the college, walked around over there for a couple hours, then downtown. It was such a nice leisurely stroll. Mike and Tyson are now both sleeping LOL. I still need to go to work, but it won't take me long. Just a couple hours.
Nell, glad your still losing! I agree with Lisa. To watch your transformation, it's amazing, and I am so glad you are sharing it with us. It is like watching a butterfly emerge from the cocoon. I can see such a change with your attitude, happiness, everything. It's sometimes hard when we have to be careful what we do or we pay for it later. I'm afraid I'll be really sore now from walking that much today. But it's worth it because I enjoyed it so much.
Lisa, also congrats to you on your new wardrobe!! I noticed today that my 14's are starting to get big on me. My "top" belly roll is so much smaller! I must be losing in my lower belly as well because all my pants are low rise and they are big in the waist as well as the legs :woohoo: I don't think I have any 12's here. I think I got rid of them a long time ago thinking I would never get back into them.
Barb, as Diane says, life happens. Just go on step 1 for a bit. I am thinking maybe 15 days. Just to make sure. That is what I am doing. I was to be on step 2 on the Monday of Thanksgiving, but decided to wait until Dec.1. I'll be prepared better then.
Well, heading off to work. Catch up later!!

Don't know if anyone caught this yet, but Diane has suggestions for all of us reguarding Thanksgiving. I am going to copy and paste it. It is from her blog dated 11/7/09;

November 7, 2009....Gobble, Gobble, Gobble...What to do about Thanksgiving dinner?

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away. Thanksgiving....visions of togetherness, family, friends... thankfulness dominates the day. And then it occurs to you: "What the heck am I going to eat? I'm on Step 1 or 2 of the Metabolism Miracle, I'm loving it, my body's digging it.....but what about those mashed potatoes, stuffing/dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie....What am I going to do????????" Take a deep breath and relax as I wouldn't leave you hanging out to dry! Many people choose to stay on their program for Thanksgiving dinner. It can be done as there is likely to be turkey, veggies, salad, cheese plate, nuts, and perhaps the pumpkin pie recipe from last week with light whipped cream (a 5x5 carb for 1/8 of the pie).

If you want to celebrate your Thanksgiving by sharing in the entire meal experience...you will need to know a few things:

What happens in a 5 hour block, stays in the 5 hour block. This means that the food choices you make for the meal cannot be "made up for" by eliminating something before or after that meal. If you are on Step 1....many of the foods you may choose to have a "taste of" at dinner are not "neutral foods." You can't make -up for having them by giving something up before or after the meal.. If you are on Step 2, you can't "save up" 11-20 gram carb choices from earlier and later in the day and put all your "carb servings in one basket" at dinner or your blood sugar and insulin equilibrium will be totally off.

If you are on Step 1. Please keep the amount of carb containing foods to a minimum....a little taste of the potatoes, dressing, dessert is the way to go while you liberally eat the turkey, veggies, salad, nuts, and a piece of the Crustless Pumpkin Pie. Get right back on track at the snack or meal after this dinner. You will probably feel a bit cranky, a little dizzy, and maybe a slight bit nauseous after subjecting your sleeping pancreas/liver to an onslaught of carb. You will also stir up your cravings a bit so be prepared to have a talk with yourself after dinner saying..."That was nice, but I'm getting right back on track." You will need to add 3 days to the end of Step 1 to make up for this meal.

If you are on Step 2. Thanksgiving dinner can be considered one "slip up" for the week. If this meal is the only meal or snack that is "off" for the week of Thanksgiving, you will not need to do anything to make up for it. Use comon sense on portion sizes of the carbohydrate foods. Be reasonable. Make sure you have an 11-20 gram carb choice within 5 hours of that dinner!

I hope this is helpful as you plan for your Thanksgiving holiday meal. Remember that Met B is part of your life forever and when you learn how to make it fit into your life, it is less of a diet and much more of a lifestyle! Diane

Gosh, you guys are embarrassing me!

Kathy, congratulations on your smaller size! It's good to hear from you. Thank you for sharing Diane's blog. It's very thoughtful of you.

Thanks Pony I will try your advice. I will even put some thing by the bed so that when I get up to go to the bathroom or let the dogs out I will eat it. Today I tried this
530- cheese and crackers
930- broc cheese omlet (hubby loves to make me these on the weekend)
130- chicken and cheese on ww roll (100 cal 14carbs) with lettuce and lite mayo, cottege cheese.
we are going out to dinner tonight so I will probably have salad with broiled fish and veggie. I will bring some crackers in case they do not have ww pasta.
and then a snack with a 11-20 carb (probably and apple with cheese) my favorite now
then I will snack during the night.
and see how it goes..maybe that is why my blood tested 145 this morning...:sad2:

SueAnn - did you have an 11-20 with your omelette? If not, your 5:30 and 1:30 carbs were too far apart.

I do pretty good getting mine in on time during the week, but the weekend is my downfall. Due to soccer and a trip for an x-ray, I was 6.5 hours between mine today.

I agree it's much harder if your not on a schedule, and it sounds like the weekend does that to you. It's really good to read you. I missed you!

Hi Nell - I was wondering where everyone is too! I am so bored here at work!! glad you had a good day and your company didnt bite!! LOL, I wish I had the time to make fresh yogurt...Im sure it is WAY better than store bought! I have to bring a covered dish to a potluck here at work next week...cant think of a THING to bring that I will be able to eat...got any ideas?

I am probably way late with this, but how about sausage and peppers? You could make it in the crockpot with a turkey or chicken sausage?

Mmmmm.... sounds yummy! I have sausage defrosting right now and didn't know what to make with it. It just so happens that I have peppers in the fridge as well! You may be too late for Pony, but just in time for me! :woohoo:

Thanks Nell, you are so sweet.

You and your tree looked awesome in your pics.

Glad I could help you. I have 1.5 lbs. of hamburger in the fridge. What should I have? I am thinking about burgers. I have some blue cheese to put on mine and the sandwich thin could work as a bun. that would be fun.

Barb, good job for jumping back on the horse today! Sometimes it's hard to see the emotions behind our eating.

Kathy and Lisa - Woohoo! for getting into new "old" sizes.

Well, I must say Pony SCORED bigtime at Walmart today!! I hate going on the weekends since it is usually so busy, but waited til the church crowd got done and it wasnt too bad. I actually got Torani sugar free syrups in vanilla, raspberry and chocolate, Polaners sugar free 2g jelly in black and red raspberry, wheat sandwich thins, 3 boxes of the Atkins bars I like the best, turkey on sale, italian sausage on sale, ....OMG, I never find half this stuff there usually!! AND...drum roll....Splenda packets in vanilla, hazelnut and mocha flavors for coffee!! Have you guys been hiding this stuff from me?!!! I miss my starbucks so much, so these sounded so good!! I spent a fortune, but grabbed everything they had in case it was all a mistake in ordering on their part!!:cool1::banana::yay::woohoo:

Ok, sorry, I know that is a bit strong of a reaction to a bunch of no sugar food! hee hee

Barb - so glad you are back, I missed you too! Dont worry about it all, just re-do 10-15 days of step 1 and you will be fine... I actually forgot and slept through my middle of the night feeding last night and I feel HUGE today! I mean I seriously feel like a total HEIFER...could that really do it? So I am just going to drink a bunch of water, eat light tonight and get on with it...what else can we do!!

Bev - Glad to see you too, you guys freak me out when you disappear for a few days!! And guess who is doing sausage and peppers for the potluck?!! I got 6 pounds of Italian sausage at walmart for $1 pound...so that will be great. BTW, I had a look at SueAnn's menu last week and made the same suggestions....she was just going way too long between 11-20...if you saw her new menu, it sounded perfect!

Well I was going to weigh tomorrow night at the gym, since its been quite awhile...but NO WAY until I have a "lighter feeling" day!!

Its been 75 degrees all weekend here and so gorgeous out...I should have taken a walk like Kathy, but I think I need to start taking at least one day a week off from the gym!! Pony is TIRED!! Made up some tilapia, turkey burgers, and broccoli cheese soup, but the black bean soup is just going to have to wait til I am off on tuesday!!

Nell - I know you and Lisa are the tea ladies...what kind do you drink besides the green? I need something to mix with my green tea, it is just too awful to drink by itself. I know Lisa had mentioned Celestial Seasonings English toffee and that sounded awesome, but I cant find it here...maybe something citrusy like mandarin orange, or something? I need something that tastes strong enough to mask the green!!

I'm not sure I'm that much of a tea lady. The only thing I can think of is a little piece of ginger root.

Robin: My sister and I have full baskets of teas in our pantries, lol! Peppermint, camomile, chai. Do you have Celestial Seasonings at all? They have so many choices. White tea is lovely - white pear tea is one of my favorites. I bet you would like my cherry green tea. It smells just like cherries. Like Kate said, one of the best ways to enjoy green tea is with mint. Did you do the liver cleanse ever? You can flavor tea with a drop of the peppermint oil or lemon oil, too. I drink jasmine green tea as my staple. Do you have Trader Joe's? Your daughter does, right? Have her bring you some chocolate tea from there. It tastes pretty much the same as the English Toffee. 0 everything and decaf. It's my dessert a lot of nights.
