MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Diane: My Mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer last Fall. She had one reoccurance after surgery so another surgery and then she is on a 3 year treatment program of so many weeks on and so many off. They put a solution based from the tuberculosis virus into the bladder as a 'wash' you hold for two hours. It kills the cancer cells and doesn't hurt the rest of your body. I hope your brother's doctor knows of this treatment because it is supposed to be really effective. We will be praying for him. The good news is that if it hasn't escaped the bladder, it is very treatable and has a very high cure rate.

Good luck on the job! I'll be holding good thoughts for you!

Thanks for the info, Lisa. I will ask him about it.

Robin: It’s great to have that validation from Diane. I wasn’t worried about stacking, however. Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought Carol was worrying about being late for dinner so she was eating her dam an hour before dinner and then not having another with dinner. Carol, if you’re eating two in that time frame, it’s in keeping with Diane’s advice. Again, forgive me if I misunderstood, but when these things come up it does help to clarify the finer points for all of us. Yeah! We’re awesome!:cheer2:

I wrote this whole thing about how SueAnn had to have an 11-20 with breakfast because I didn’t see the first line you gave her for 6 am since there wasn’t a line space, my eye skipped. Whew!:teacher:

Cindy: I don’t know how you keep it all straight, but then again, that’s probably the key and the beauty to a large family – the fact that it is flexible and adaptable. We’re excited to try out some of our new recipes on our son. We’re betting he loves them even though they are our ‘diet’ food! I asked Tom if he would rather cheat on Thanksgiving or go out for sushi with John-Paul and he picked the sushi! It’s kind of a tradition that we take him out to our favorite place and order whatever anybody wants. Last time he came home, he took a girl instead of going with us! That’s fine with me! I don’t think we should cheat twice within a couple of days, do you? We’ve never cheated since July 28. Yes, I know we could find legal food at sushi, but it wouldn’t include the traditional ones. What do you all think?

Kate: I’m sorry your poor husband is so exhausted. Once when mine was working like that he left a note on my steering wheel which said, “Consider yourself kissed.”

That does it – my son has to marry your daughter! I gave up thinking I would have a daughter-in-law that could sew, LOL! I have my MIL's Husqvarna machine to pass on to the lucky girl! Very few people learn how to sew these days. I have to do the sewing for the whole family. :lovestruc

Thanks for the info, Lisa. I will ask him about it.

That treatment has evidently been used for a long time very effectively because my parents have a friend who had it decades ago. He's still healthy!:)

It just flashed into my mind to tell you all that my Mom had bladder cancer we are sure as a result of smoking for so many years. It's one of the 'smoker's cancers'. Even though she had quit the damage was done. She also has the smokers' aneurysm in her abdomen which has to be viewed with ultrasound every 6 months. If it bursts you die within minutes. Their neighbor did die of one before the ambulence could get there. The surgery to correct it is dangerous and requires a long recovery. Hidden dangers to smoking....Only because I love you smokers out there. Hope I'm not a pest.:grouphug:

On Oct. 5 when my Mom had her last camera look inside her bladder she didn't have any recurrence of her cancer! Yeah!:cool1:

Kate, My mom and I would sew most of my clothes when I was growing up, too. I've always been the round Met B version and dresses from the store just didn't fit. I will now date myself by saying that is back when girls were not allowed to wear pants to school. Just dresses...and nylons, and girdles or garter belts that your hose hooked on to. Panty hose came along when I was in high school. What a marvelous invention those things were!

On another note, I think I will continue on with the way I'm eating dinner. On those days that I end up eating my 11-20 carb during that period before dinner, I will look at it as a European meal....one with several courses and spread out over a longer amount of time. My first course will be the carb and then followed by other courses of vegies and protein. This does happen when you go to restaurants. My time between the carb and the rest of the meal is never more than 45mins to an hour. What do you think of that mind set?I had thought of putting a 5x5 in this time period, but after reading Robins post, Diane told her to wait at least 2 hours between these and an11-20

Lisa, thanks for all your suggestions. I appreciate the thought and time you spent on thinking of some solutions for my dilemma. That was very kind! For me tho, it's very important that we sit down as a family and eat together. There are 7 of us right now and dinner is the only time we come together as a complete unit. We had some family difficulties many years ago and a therapist friend asked if we made a point of eating together. He said that studies have shown that this is a very important thing to do. It also gives us a time to pray together over our dinner and that seems to unite us even more.

Nell, The tree sound beautiful. I can tell you're very excited about your family coming to visit for the holidays and hope it goes well.

Diane, Sorry to hear about your brother. Will keep him in my prayers and thoughts.

Robin, If absence makes the heart grow fonder, yours will be so fond when Ken gets back that it just might explode! Hope not. LOL

Wishing everyone a great day
Carol
Step 2

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Hey everyone, I crashed last night. This morning a truck hit me. I don't remember it but it must have happened at some point.

Carol, I don't think your doing anything wrong. I understand the schedule problem. If your worried about it being too long you could have an 11-20 that also has protein and fat, like yogurt or something. I think your ok though. See what others say though.

Diane, I hope it's good news about the job interview! The economy is picking up a little bit so it shouldn't be long! Praying for your brother and you right now!

Lisa, isn't it amazing how to boards could go different directions and do things so differently? If I had one ounce of energy left I'd go over there and start sharing there also to try and help them. Honestly though, they would probably resent the intrusion, get mean and I'd be crying again. I'm just not up to it with everything going on right now.

Pony, I don't think it's weird that you get the tree put away so quickly, it's part of your wanting things in order. That is defiantly a good thing. I wish I had more of an organizational streak. I had to crack up at the image you presented. Your going to flip if you open the door to go to work and you have a line of sexy, available, romantic men outside my door!

Jocelyn, I have heard about how China is building up. A professor I had in college last year that is a very education political (something)... He knows Bill Clinton type of person, said that China is very shortly going to be another world super power.

It's hard to know with the tomato sauce what is the natural carbs and what is the added sugar. Unless we actually look to see if there is sugar in it? Maybe that would help. I think we'd be hard pressed to find sauce without it though.

Cindy, I hope that your older children pitch in with the meal prep. What a job!

Kate, I hope your husband is home this weekend to catch up with his sleep and YOU! That must be hard.

I keep meaning to learn to sew simple clothes. I bought a sewing machine and it doesn't work right.

My mom has an aneurysm in her stomach Lisa, and she's a heavy smoker. I had no idea that is what causes it.

Carol: You could have another 11-20 after dinner like a piece of fruit for dessert if that fits with your schedule and meal choice. I do that a lot when my dinner is more of a Step 1 meal. I absolutely agree with you sitting down at mealtime together as a family being top priority:) You are a wonderful mother! Psssst. I was on the committee in school to allow girls to wear pants! I had forgotten about that!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers! :littleangel:

Lisa: That's great news about your mom! Thank God! xo

My stomach is in a knot waiting for the stupid phone to ring about the job. I'm also checking my email because I would guess a negative response would be sent that way.

Nothing was on TV except the Yankees ticker tape parade at 11:00. I like the Yankees, but I like Martha Stewart better.

I had a 1/2 of a 5 gram tortilla with chicken, lettuce and roasted red peppers. Would I count that as a 5x5? Or is a freebie since it's 2.5 carbs?

I made blueberry muffins last night with a mix from New Hope Mills that I ordered from locarbu.com. It's sugar free/controlled carbs. Each muffin is 3 carbs. I added a tsp. of vanilla when I was mixing them up. I am so happy with them. They actually have a cakey texture and taste really good. I left one out for today and the rest I froze.

Robin - I forgot to say congrats on the gift card. That's so great!

Yes, she has to have it scanned every six months. They would rather not operate unless they have to.

Same with my Mom. Dad made her have a body scan, convinced there would be something in her lungs. They found it quite by happenstance.

Got to work and checked my e-mail to find another LOVELY, romantic note from Ken and an e-card as well!! Did I mention I LOVE that Man? !!:rotfl2:

Diane - crossing my fingers and praying you will get the job...I was laid off for a couple months earlier this year and it was a very trying time... Your 2.5g has to be counted as a 5x5...anything over 1g is the general rule!

Lisa - Thank goodness we have each other for clarification! You caught me with the applesauce right away!! Seems like no matter how long we do this, there are always more questions and confusion!! Not to mention the moments when our eyes read things on labels that arent there! LOL, or see things we WISH were there! So glad your mom had good news from her last scan.

Nell - guess what? I opened my door this morning and...NOPE, no line of sexy, romantic men outside!!:rotfl:

Carol - having that time together at dinner will make your family so much stronger...being able to pray together and be thankful for each other is so important and missing from so many people's lives these days.:flower3:

Robin: I am so grateful for you and everyone else here. It really takes a community to figure this out sometimes and I don't know what I would do without you all!:grouphug:

I agree. We always pray before meals. When my son was about 3 yrs. old we were on vacation and eating at an outside cafe. The food arrived and we started eating and he started yelling 'name of the Father, name of the Father'. We hadn't prayed and he called us on it! :rotfl:

Bless his little heart! That is so cute!

Diane, sorry to hear about your brother. I will be keeping him and your family in my prayers. I am also praying for the job for you!!

Lisa, I'll be keeping your mother in my prayers as well.

Nell, sorry you feel so lousy today. I think my truck may have went south to you, sorry. I will keep your mom in my prayers too. That is one thing I am worried about. Did I quit smoking too late? I can only pray that I quit before any damage has been done to my body. It was a selfish habit I had. Sorry if I sound as though I'm being "damning" guys or anything. I'm not meaning it to sound that way, honest.

I was taking a look at the "other" site this morning and someone on step 1 had posted a response from Diane about the supplements. I'll have to find it. She has added a few since the book was released. I know she is now saying about I believe the b12 now.

Need to find something for supper. Not too hungry though, so may eat a small snack (mozzy stick) and hold off of supper.

No one called about the job. Now I have to go through the whole weekend. I feel like I went on a really great date and the guy hasn't called since. :lmao:
It's been decades since that happened, but I remember that feeling now!

Kathy: If you end up on Dr. Teitelbaum’s formula you won’t need the extra B12, I wouldn’t think.

Diane: I’m sorry you have to be on pins and needles the whole weekend. Try to get out and enjoy yourself, especially if you are about to be employed!:cheer2:

Hey, guys we found a really perfect meal out! Do you all have Ruby Tuesdays around? They have two salads that Tom and I ordered. His was Asian Salmon on spinach with edamame, carrots, black beans. Mine was Southwest chicken and had corn and black beans. I asked the waitress if there was any way to find out the measurements on the black beans, corn and carrots. Each of us had two of the above on our salad and, lo and behold, they measure ¼ cup of each onto each salad! So it was a perfect Step 2 meal with the dressing on the side and leave off the egg noodles. Then we went out and got that man some new jeans that don’t have butt sag! He was so excited with himself he bought 3 pair, including one black! His dress shirts are huge and need tailoring. They cost so much because he is so tall I hate to just give them away. I’d take them in, but they are French seams. Nah, too much work.

We might go out again tonight cause he will be stylin’ in the new pants!

Diane  I hope you hear very early on Monday!

Lisa, congratulate Tom on his new pants for us!

My supplements just left South Carolina today via basic standard mail? I wonder if that is the same as parcel post and they changed the name? I know that vitacost used to ship really fast and that isn't the case any longer.

I'm having peanuts in the shell for a snack. It's not a huge bag but I feel guilty. I also feel hungry. I forgot to cook the chicken in time. My day has been off all day. I have had my triscuts with my peanuts so it's a meal of sorts. Next meal is at 11pm, so I'll have stewed chicken by then, and I can put it in a wrap. Earlier today I had broccoli soup and an applesauce. I guess I'm not doing too bad, but I like it better when I'm using my alarm, and I haven't pulled it out today.

I rescued two little goldfish from the feeder tank today. I couldn't help it!:confused3 So now they are in with my fancy goldfish. One of them is white with a little orange spot, he looks like a mini koi. I hope he's not a koi, I just thought of that. If he is I'll have to put him in a bathtub eventually! :lmao:

Well, talk to everyone a bit later!

Diane - sorry you are still waiting!! Did they say that they would be calling today or were you just hoping to hear? Crossing my fingers and praying you will hear on Monday!!

Lisa - take that sexy man out dancing!!:dancer:

Kathy - they say that you see results from quitting smoking in just a few months, so Im sure quitting did you a world of good in so many ways!!:flower3:
