MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Found out it was Tutu that posted a recipe for pumpkin mousse'. She's trying to remember when. Anybody save it?

Spoke too soon. It's on the recipe thread. We don't have the carb count, but it looks pretty low if you use fake maple syrup.

Oh, I'll have to check that out! Thanks Lisa (and Tutu)

The pumpkin pie mousse sounds great. I made an eggnog mousse last night that was good, too. A little more whipping cream than cream cheese ( doesn't work well with the whipped light cream cheese- too runny ) some Splenda, nutmeg and then rum flavoring. It was scrumptious.

OK I edited the recipe to include the carb count. I missed it when I did the cut and past. Sorry.........

Good Monday Morning!! Pony is even up before Kathy today!! Going to sleep early last night just meant I got up earlier....oh well, th eplumber is coming to change out the thermostat on the hot water heater, as he believes that is the culprit and will only fail again in the near future. I do NOT want to wake up to no hot water again, so bring on the new thermostat!!

Step 2 begins this morning, so I am off in 15 minutes to begin my morning with some eggs and 11-20 toast! Cross your fingers that my blood sugar remains in its place this time and that I can manage the schedule and my carbs like a BIG GIRL...no more re-runs for me! I will be crying to you guys by tonight Im sure, with questions and doubts!

OK, Let the Mushiness and Sappiness Begin: I received a poem from Ken again this morning...

" Theres a sea between us love, And I wish that it werent true,
For every day when I awake, I yearn to be with you
There are many miles between us, love, though you're always in my heart
and every night beneath the silver starlight
I pray for the day we'll never part
You have been called before Cupids Court, for stealing my heart,
trespassing in my dreams, and robbing me of my senses
You have been found guilty, and therefore sentenced
to a lifetime with me...how do you plead, Love? "

OK, now that you are either running to the bathroom to "yak" up your breakfast, or are making gagging, choking noises, or are just plain :lmao::rotfl:
cracking up...is this seriously normal for a 51 year old woman and a 59 year old man? Dont forget to envision this poem being said with that sexy Austrian (german) accent too! OMG, I think I need coffee, NOW!!

Please forgive me anyone who just got an instant cavity!!

That is wonderful! Who cares that your both in your fifties! That's only half way through life, god willing! Float around on clouds today! :cloud9: He earned it with that one!

Robin - I believe you were proposed to in that poem. I didn't realize Ken was Austrian.

Ladies, I have 2 pieces of good news this a.m.

1 - I went this a.m. and had the needle aspiration done on my right oobbay. It deflated instantly (I got to watch on ultrasound machine), and he says it was nothing but a fluid filled cyst. :cool1: I don't have to go back for 6 months.

2 - DH said he has noticed the weight loss and can see it in my clothes!:thumbsup2 It has only taken 13 weeks and 16 pounds, but I am on my way to thin!

Oh, Beverly, you must be on Cloud 9 :cloud9: That was the best news we all could have received today! Good job on taking care of yourself and getting a check up. You never know and it was a relief to find out it was nothing to worry about! :woohoo:on getting thinner!

You know what else, folks? This guy wrote than in a language that isn't his first language!! That's impressive!

Robin, are you going to publish your reply to him???

Oh my goodness I've been busy and haven't had a chance to catch up on all the posts but I do see y'all have been fun searching for the Great Chrismas Moose.

Just wanted to pop in and say a quick Hello. Hope everyone is having a great day. Hopefully tomorrow won't be so busy and I can sit and chat for a bit!

Miss you!!:lovestruc

I am very relieved. To celebrate I came home and ate a very legal lunch with a large salad. Haven't even looked at the Halloween candy. I did pick up a really good dark chocolate bar with Hazelnuts at World Market on Friday. I had 4 pieces of it as my dessert after the weenie roast on Saturday night. I am on my way to Wal-Mart, and may look for another one there.

Lisa, what was the brand name on your tea infused chocolate bar that you had found?

Okay, here you go all of you pumpkin lovers:

Whether it’s stowed within a cornucopia for your Thanksgiving centerpiece, out on the front stoop as a Jack-o’-lantern, or stashed as seeds in your glove compartment, pumpkins are found in lots of unusual places this time of year. And in the not-too-distant future, it could take up residence in another unusual locale: your medicine cabinet.

A new study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry says that pumpkin—the skin of it, particularly—can help fight infections associated with microbes that lead to yeast infections.

Treatment for yeast infections are typically medicinal and often involve antibiotics. But because antibiotics have been handed out like candy at a Thanksgiving parade—never mind that they often lead to yeast infections—doctors are becoming increasingly loath to be so liberal in offering them. Why? Because the widespread use of antibiotics has enabled microbes to adapt and become resistant to them, forming what are known as “superbugs.” That pumpkin extract could further reduce the use of antibiotics is really what makes this finding so exciting.

According to the study’s head honcho, Kyung-Soo Hahm, when he and fellow researchers extracted proteins from pumpkin rinds and mixed them with Candida albicans, they inhibited its growth. And its growth is what leads to the development of yeast infections. Candida albicans is the microbe that leads to yeast infections, but they can also lead to other diseases and infections, like diaper rash in infants and leaky gut syndrome in adults. The presence of Candida albicans is determined by a simple blood test.

Yeast infections are extremely common in women, as three out of four women will get at least one in their lifetime, and two out of four will get more than one. Yeast infections form when too much yeast grows within the ******l walls. The production of yeast is normal, but when there’s excessive wetness in the ******l area over prolonged periods, yeast infections will often result. Other common causes for excessive yeast growth include having diabetes, being overweight or being immunodeficient. Common symptoms associated with yeast infections include excessive itching and burning, experiencing pain during intercourse and/or producing a thick, pasty-white discharge.

Up to now, the pumpkin pretty much had one of two functions: For decoration or for nutrition. Who’d have thought it could wind up being used for infections as well?

Hey Everyone! I have caught up with all of you! Great recipes and ideas this morning! It's wonderful to see all of you!

There is an inflatable store that started listing new Chrismooses on eBay, so if and when I'm ready to get one they are carrying them. There's a new one with a tree and a bear etc. but mine is different. It's holding a candy cane and when the wind blows it looks like's he's waving, lol. So anyway, when I'm ready I'll get him. I might wait until just after Christmas for clearance. I've decided to do a whole lot of homemade decorating this holiday. I haven't given myself time to have fun like that since I was a child. I can do crafts on my new table! :teeth:

I feel surprisingly well this morning. This is getting weird. I haven't felt good in so long it's almost surreal when it happens, and it's happening more and more! I'm going outdoors to mark out the little garden I'm making with some string. I will see what your all up to in a little while! :grouphug:

It's by The Tea Room and it's Raspberry Rooibos Organic Tea Infusions Dark Chocolate. Half a bar is 12 net carbs, including 2 of fiber so it qualifies as an 11 - 20 bar, but I only eat 1 row as a 5 x 5.

I am so happy that you are feeling so much better. When my mom asked me how much weight I had lost, I told her about 15 lbs., but I feel so much better, I'm not stressing over it.

Kate: I love that information about the pumpkin. I really believe we were given everything we need here on the planet and we've lost touch with a lot of it, but it's coming back to us with examples like this! My great grandmother was an herbalist and she treated the whole village with natural remedies. Unfortunately, she didn't write it down, or at least we no longer have her rememdies. Sad. Grapefruit seed extract works really well on yeast infections, too. You can drink the drops in water and douche with the same formula. Wonder if that word will pass the censors.

Technically it's only 10 net carbs, so you had better eat something with it to make it legal if you want an 11-20!
