We will be at DL around Mother's day weekend. The two days we can use MM would be Sunday, May 10th or Tuesday, May 12th.

I gather that Mother's day may be busy. However, the park opens at 8am (7am for MM). The park doesn't open on Tuesday until 9am so I am thinking it might be better to use the MM on Tuesday to actually get an extra hour without have to get up at the crack of dawn.

What do you think? Does this make sense or will we regret not using it on Sunday when the park is possibly swamped?

It will be DH, me, DS (6) and DD (3).

I think doing MM on Tuesday is best. There will definitely be smaller crowds lining up for Magic Morning on Tuesday than on Mother's Day Sunday.

Sunday. The first possible day to use MM, use it. That's my rule because later in the trip (and I have personally witnessed this) you will be more tired and less inclined to wake up early.

Plus I don't think that Mother's Day will heavily affect MM. It will actually make going at normal opening worse because Mother's Day will draw in a lot of locals coming for the day who are not eligible for MM. So the gates will probably be more crowded at 8 than at 7. It's not like it's a huge holiday weekend with school off or anything. You shouldn't have many problems at all with crowds on Tuesday.

Anyone else want to offer an opinion??

I asked DH tonight what he wanted to do and his vote was for MM on Tuesday.

I agree with this. I think getting in on a busy day and getting some stuff done before the crowds is the best choice vs a day that will not be that busy

Just wondering where the hours are posted for May...on the Disneyland site they only seem to be for Feb and Mar. We are going to be there in May actually over Mother's Day as well and I've been waiting to find out what the park hours are.

I really think you're underestimating how tired you will be on the third day of DLR touring. Did your DH say why he wants to use MM on Tuesday? :confused3

I am guessing on the hours based on last years schedule. I don't think the official 2009 hours are posted yet.

I think we will be more rested on Tuesday than Sunday and this is why:

Saturday we have to leave our house at 5am to catch our flight. We also plan to do Disneyland that afternoon/evening plus DS and I want to see the fireworks. That puts us back to our hotel at 10pm at the earliest.

Sunday the park opens at 7am for MM which would mean we would have to be out the door of HOJO's by 6:30am.

Monday we are going to Legoland. They don't open until 10am and close at 5pm. Plus we get to sit for the drive down and back. I am thinking this will be a day for us to catch our breath.

Tuesday DL doesn't open until 9am but thought this would be the best day for us to use the MM and get in at 8am.

My kids are only 6 & 3 so Saturday is going to be tough for them if we stay at the park thru the fireworks (they usually go to bed around 7pm).

I would choose Tues. based on your schedule. My kids would be wiped out trying to get up early and go to a 7 am MM after being up late for fireworks, etc. Sounds like your DH's idea is good. And the resting in the car the day before could be really good! For everyone!

I almost always agree with DLR 29, but I also like the 8am MM better than the 7am MM because that extra hour (to me) makes a difference.....BUT:

On Tuesday you should be at the Security Line at 7:20-7:25am....which means out the door of HOJOs at 7:10 - 7:15am (earlier if you're gonna make a McBreakfast stop).

IMO, if you're gonna do MM, try to be near the front of the line so you can do PP first (always first) & Dumbo on the first or second cycle. :thumbsup2

Another thing to consider, but I don't know, is if there is a time change difference, you will be waking up earlier earlier in the trip because your body won't be used to the time zone change earlier on.

However, doing Legoland the day before makes me consider Tuesday a little bit more. Assuming that you can go to bed early that night.

We are coming from Seattle so no time zone change for us.

You do have me wondeirng though....we could have our beach day on Sunday and skip DL all together on Mother's day. Then we could do Legoland on Monday and DL on Tues/Wed.

What do you think about that? Skip Sunday and go on the (presumably) less crowded day of Wednesday?

The only problem with that is that you don't know if there will be fireworks during the week. I'd say your current plan is the best.

We are planning to see the fireworks on Saturday, May 9th.....;)
