MLB: Prepare for shock and collapse

A Sox fan here, I haven't heard anything about Damon testing positive yet.
I think people were so against Raffy because he testified that he never used performance enhancing drugs then tested positive. :earseek:

If it comes out that Damon did take steroids, it certainly hasn't improved his throwing ability. :rotfl2:

I guess time will tell if these are just rumors or not.

The whole steroid business makes me sick.

This is why I have no respect for Barry Bonds' single season HR record,

In my mind, it has a triple asterisk

Racism; Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

Let's see three good white players do steroids and it's ok, two minorities do and they are the bad guys.

And I know the news hasn't come out yet so it is early to say this. But I have already heard tons of sports fans today already forgiving Clemens and Damon. Now that their favorite players are the ones involved they are even now justifying steroid use. I simply cannot believe how many people on the radio today have said there is nothing wrong with it.

Yeah... they say that until it's Barry Bonds.

No. But they can increase your speed, making it easire to get around on a fastball.... They do make you stonger. Who knows how many feet that adds to each fly ball.

Not an intelligent argument there.

They also make you recover faster from injury and and between workouts

The Ali comment baffles me. The man has Parkinson's Disease. Granted this is a neurological disease, but I've never heard of it being associated with blows to the head. My Grandfather had Parkinson's. He didn't get it from boxng.

As for the steroid use...it certainly wouldn't surprise me with Clemens. He wasn't in this good shape when he was in his 20's. As for Damon...I guess I wouldn't be too surprised. I just think that any of these guys who are still trying to get away with it are foolish! They know the testing is being done, so why do it? Just seems foolish.

Here's a white girl who will never forgive Damon or Clemens, if it is true.

Parkinson's syndrome. Most definitely associated with repetitive head trauma

I'm not going to comment on the MLB rumors because there's no links to back this up - it's only speculation. I do have to address the part of the OP calling America racist because they would forgive Clemens and Damon. Johnny Damon isn't Caucasian. He's Eurasian.

Psssstt -- Cuban isn't a race :)

Well technically they are only three races, however latin Americans are certainly recognized as a race in America and as a minority.

Actually, yeah, he was. The man's always been a physical specimen -- his workout regimine is legendary.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me either -- one of the biggest things that steroids help with is recovery time between workouts, which is critical for a starting pitcher.

Ok doesn't matter at all, just means Americans will forgive whites and those of white and asian descent. ANd that latinos and blacks will be the focus of the witch hunt.

I just did a search and I've seen this rumor has been floating around for a bit. Of course with all this so-called "secrecy" there is a ton of speculation...it's the nature of the beast. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it was true, particularly as regards Clemens because he seems superhuman, but as of right now it is all just rumor and speculation.

And no, I would not be understanding if it turns out to be true. I think baseball is a disaster in major need of an image overhaul. I just choose not to waste my time on it now, much as I loved last year's playoffs and world series.

So now you've gone from saying Americans are racist to saying they are selectively racist? Come on!

It is in Spanish Culture. But I divert - understand your point, but racial issues figure far too largely in Latino culture

Can we just drop the whole "America will forgive so and so, but not so and so" argument???

Especially if the so-called forgiveness is all in Joe's mind.

And although you would never know it from what you see on TV and in magazines, much of the country doesn't have Red Sox fever. It was nice that they finally won and all, but where I live Damon is just another ballplayer.

Palmiero has two big differences. One was his finger wagging when he testified, of course. But the other is that he was just a pretty good ballpayer until he was 30, an age when you're supposed to be past your physical peak. Then he started to put up Hall of Fame caliber numbers, and kept it up for a dozen years.

At least Bonds and Clemens had great careers before steriods became an issue. So while their legacy is muddled, Raffy's is trashed.

Do you have any links to stories about this? Just curious.

i am also wondering this
i just went to foxsports espn adn cnnsi and theres nothing about it
if this was being reported it would EVERYWHERE
esp cuz they are calling clemens the best pitcher ever and talking about him for another cy young

Are you kidding me? Racism is ALWAYS selective.

Group A discriminates against Group B, et al.

Nothing changed besides the fact that you mentioned that Damon was White/Asian. The bottom line is white America identifies him as one of their own, and he is not black or latino, the two groups subject to persecution in this country.
