MLB Postseason Thread

GO PIRATES!!!!! :cheer2:

Oh wait...... that's right. They haven't had a winning season in 14 years. Right. *sigh*

Hey, how about some of those Twins???
Joe Mauer, batting champion at 23 years old and the FIRST AL catcher EVER to win that title!

Or Johan Santan a shoein for AL Cy Young!

Maybe even Justin Morneau for MVP!

We are still hopeful Cardinals fans here at my house. But with the way they have played the last few games :confused3 . Guess we'll see which team shows up today! With this team ya never know until the end!

I think the Yankees and A's will be out in the first round. I think the Twins will overcome the Tigers.
In the NL almost anything can happen, but I'd be happy with anybody but the Dodgers winning!

It's almost time! I think my 8th graders might get a treat of some seat work problems with the game on this afternoon :cool1:

I would love a Yankees/Dodgers series. The recent Dodgers post season appearances have left much to be desired, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I do wish that they had home field advantage (stupid Padres).

Looks like they might have lost their plan B for Game 1.
I really feel badly about this. Watching El Duque pitch in October is always something special. The inning he pitched against the Red Sox in Fenway last year for the White Sox was the single best performance of the whole 2005 season IMO. I truly hope the MRI is negative and that he'll be able to pitch, if not game 1, then at least some time in this series.

Wow, Twins lose behind Santana in the Metrodome. Who would have expected that? He hasn't lost at home ALL YEAR! Frank Thomas had a heck of a game with two homers, then again he needs to hustle down to first a little better :teeth: (For those who didn't see the game, he almost got thrown out on a single to right.)

So the A's have a 1-0 lead in the series. It'll be interesting to see if they can get out of the first round. It's been MANY years since they have.

I have been a Tigers fan since I was 5 (when they won the 68 series--dad has been a fan much longer). I was just hoping they'd be over 500 this year! But I am not very optimistic about this Yankees series.
I will admit I have a long, vindictive memory when it comes to sports, and the Twins have been added to my list of teams to dislike. So much so right now I'd even want the Yankees over the Twins. But if the Yankees make the series I'll probably root for the National League--unless it's the Dodgers! (I used to like the Reds in the 70s).

WOW WOW WOW!

As an A's fan - that's about all I can say! I really thought we'd have to just resign ourselves to losing this first one. What a great start! & yeah, we gotta make it out of the first round!! (I worked for the A's in the early 70's - they won a few back then!) 1989 was a long time ago too!

AH Post season fever!!! HUGE YANKEE FANS HERE!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: (in fact I am going to get a Paul O'Neil autograph this weekend) I would love a subway series but I think the Mets are in for a tough hall without their pirchers. Too bad they had a great year. Now I can still hope I guess- And I would pay big bucks to go to a game. Although I will pay big bucks to go to the Dodger/Yankee game too! Let's just hope it the Yankees vs. someone!!!
GO YANKEES!!!!

GO TWINS!! :cheer2:

It's so hard to do any teaching to elementary students :teacher: when these games are going on in the middle of the afternoon. It doesn't help when you look out and the class has their Mauer sideburns on :)

The Twins can't do anything the easy way! Why have Santana get the "sure" first game win. I think they'll go for 5 games and possibly some extra innings, just to keep the excitement alive. They aren't the highest paid team around so they want their fans to get the most for their money. :bitelip:

Ok, I'm on the wrong thread...

Man I need a V8 :thumbsup2

OMG...you are singing my tune. I always add vodka to my V-8 and call it my Bloody Mary...seriously.

Wow! I can't believe the A's & Cards won. Not surprised that the Yanks won. The Big Hurt hits 2 homers, Albert is great (no surprise there) and Jeter is 5 for 5.

The A's win surprised me, as I figured Santana would shut them down (not that he pitched badly, mind you), but the Cards with Carpenter (a healthy Carpenter) on the mound, to me, wasn't a surprise.

The Yanks did what they need to do this postseason -- bash the heck out of the ball and hang on for dear life through the 6th, 7th and 8th to get to Rivera. A couple clutch hits by the Tigers and that could have been a different game, but that's what happens with young teams in clutch situations.

The only part of the NY/Det game I enjoyed was the commercial with the Red Sox fan in the bathroom who wouldn't come out. :rotfl:

Go DETROIT!!!
