Bob Slydell said:Heck of a pitching battle last night. One mistake was all that was needed (and seemed to be the only one made by any pitcher).
That was a win the Mets needed -- they need to win everytime Glavine pitches just like the Cards need to win anytime Carpenter's pitching. The other games are likely to be slugfests.
BTW, I take back what I said earlier about the afternoon game being solely because of the Mets-Cards game getting pushed back. Apparently, it got moved forward to the afternoon so the game didn't have to be played in snow in Detroit.![]()

But I'm sure Tigers fans are thrilled.
But I don't get paid millions to stay awake

Figment22 said:The Tigers were certainly a disappoinment to their fans this weekend in getting swept by the Royals, but, had Jim Leyland asked any NY fans (Yankees or Mets), I think they could have told him that today's game was over as soon as Kenny Rogers took the mound. Two things that do not go together: Kenny Rogers and October baseball. I really think that something physiological happens to Kenny Rogers' brain when the calendar changes from September to October.![]()
