MLB Postseason Thread

I am cleaning, doing laundry... getting everything done because I am a couch potato come game time.

An update from MLB.com:

Friday's National League Championship Series game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets at Shea Stadium will be played at 8:05 p.m. (ET) and the Oakland Athletics-Detroit Tigers American League Championship Series Game 3 has been moved to 4:30 p.m. (ET), it was announced today. FOX Sports and ESPN Radio will carry the games live, coming on-air at 4:00 p.m. (ET) for the ALCS and 8:00 p.m. (ET) for the NLCS.

I don't understand why they couldn't have just done what they were planning on doing last night? Have them both on at 8pm and show them on two different networks (Fox and FX)?

I mean, I get home from work around 5, so it doesn't affect me, but I'd be kind of ticked if I was in Oakland and suddenly the game is on at 1pm, just because of a rainout in the other series. :sad2:

Mets win! Mets win! Great game (but I might be biased).

Carpenter vs. Maine tonight.

Heck of a pitching battle last night. :thumbsup2 One mistake was all that was needed (and seemed to be the only one made by any pitcher).

That was a win the Mets needed -- they need to win everytime Glavine pitches just like the Cards need to win anytime Carpenter's pitching. The other games are likely to be slugfests.

BTW, I take back what I said earlier about the afternoon game being solely because of the Mets-Cards game getting pushed back. Apparently, it got moved forward to the afternoon so the game didn't have to be played in snow in Detroit.

Yeah, I heard that about the weather. But I thought the same thing you did.

Glavine was great, but so was Weaver, which really surprised me. I knew this series was going to be good.

Okay, Okay... you have one... :sad2:

But today will be a different story. :woohoo:

ETA: Missy, I wish I had a little more coffee in me before I saw you new pic... not ready to see that this am. ;)

Sorry Lisa! But that was a great game last night. I think that's the best I've ever seen Weaver pitch. I was too nervous to watch the top of the ninth!

Tigers win, go uo 3-0. Can the A's come back like the Red Sox did 2 years ago?

Your killin' me today... now you bring up the Red Sox... we don't have fond memories of the Red Sox from 2 yrs ago. Oh wait I forgot the Cardinals didn't even show up for that Series :lmao:

Holy cow--is the home plate ump on angel dust or what? I don't think I've ever seen a more bizarre strike zone in my life (going both ways)!

I'm not happy this morning.

But I'm sure Tigers fans are thrilled.

I'm not feeling too bad either ;)

I can't imagine the teams today- getting here at 3-4 in the morning and having to play tonight. I went to bed after the game in my cozy bed and slept until 9 and I am sure I will be tired today. :surfweb: But I don't get paid millions to stay awake :rotfl:

The Tigers were certainly a disappoinment to their fans this weekend in getting swept by the Royals, but, had Jim Leyland asked any NY fans (Yankees or Mets), I think they could have told him that today's game was over as soon as Kenny Rogers took the mound. Two things that do not go together: Kenny Rogers and October baseball. I really think that something physiological happens to Kenny Rogers' brain when the calendar changes from September to October. :teeth:

Me thinks somebody owes Kenny Rogers an apology. He has been awesome in the post season.

GO TIGERS!!!

Tigers in the World Series..It doesn't get better than this....
