Does it have to be late at night? Are there any days where the park closes at 12:00 pm? Is there any hope for a 2:00 WEDDING??????? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The MK weddings can only be late at night at either 9 or 10pm and start at $53,000

They are not doing any of the MK weddings until after the Happiest Celebration on Earth (Dec). Then, when they do resume, the min. is $500,000 and they can only take place after the park has closed for the evening. Depending on what time of the year you are looking for, the park may not close until 3 am....

yup cinderellafan is right. the new min. is 500k as on their website. :(

WHOA!!!

I knew they weren't doing any in park weddings until after the Happiest Celebration, but the last I'd heard was the minimum was $70,000..."bumping" it up to $500,000 is a HUGE jump! But, I don't doubt that's what the price is, or that someone will pay it...

Can you all imagine!??!? What kind of wedding costs half a million dollars!?!?!? :faint:

Yes, I'd love to just listen in on that planning session. :teeth:

Forget the planning session...I want to be INVITED!!! :rotfl:

Me too... think we may be dreaming though? :rotfl:

Also the wedding can only be on a night when MK is closing early! not one of its late nights.

And it would start 2 hours after park closing!

*gasp* *choke* $500K...?!?!?!

OMG, kind of makes me wish we had our MK reception...LOL You probably get the run of the whole park for that amount of dough, not just the castle and carousel...I would hope, anyway!

At least you WDW brides have the castle photo option, though! I think that's the most important... :)

Anyway, for that price, I doubt there will be very many MK weddings, and every one they have will most certainly be THE event of the year! :)

Drat. I knew I should have tried harder to win the heart of Bill Gates! LOL :rotfl2:

I have a cousin who was married a couple years ago in NY and it was over $250k (I couldn't attend so I don't know what you get for that much!), so I'm sure there are a few people out there who are willing to pay $500k and yeah, I'd like to be invited to that one too!

It seems like Disney wants to seriously limit the number of people who get married at the castle by putting such a high price tag on it. A friend of a friend was married at the castle about 4 or 5 years ago and my friend said she spent $60k. I can see some people justifying $53k or $70k but it's harder to beg, borrow, and "steal" $500k!

As if the timing and the price wasn't bad enough, it is not possible to have a full plated meal served inside the MK as there is no on-site catering facility. (Keep in mind, it was built shortly in the 70s - it's almost as old as I am! :rotfl2: )

One thing I have heard is that, for many brides, the restrictions on the site were not things they were able to live with, so the actual number of couples who want to get married there once they know the "whole story" is a lot less than you might think.

Besides, how many passed appetizers can 500K buy? ;)

Chryssi-

That it what I have heard recently - that the MK cannot do a full reception, but I could be wrong.

Bob and I never got past the dreaming stage for the MK but mostly because of the timing restrictions - we are having tons of kids who would not be able to handle it (even now that we've shifted to an Intimate, 8 of our 18 projected guests are kids!) and I am a morning person :sunny: - I would be a grumpy, frumpy mess if I had to wait to start until 10pm!

i would check with disney on the wedding though...sometimes websites are wrong and prices may be different. You never know until you ask. but the price is pretty high.

Actually, I just started the whole Disney Wedding process today and they verified that it is indeed $500,000. No receptions *in* the castle either, but I suppose if you are paying $500,000 they may be able to work with you. My fiance proposed to me in Cinderella's Castle, so we are happy that we will at least be able to do the photo shoot (and possibly the rehearsal dinner as a "magical gathering" at the castle)

Regarding dinner - 10 years ago (a lifetime ago it seems!) you could do a meal in MK, they did the catering out of the kitchen in the castle. While it mostly does pre-plated meals now historically it had a full kitchen and standard menu, so they were able to support a reception. I believe they set it up in the courtyard behind the castle (between the castle and carousel). At that price I wish we'd have been able to swing it back when we did ours!!!

Yeahhh Paul gave me the option too !! I booked the Gazebo a week before we got engaged LOL then I did more and more reading and realised that it could be feasible BUT then I wouldn't have got my bigger house, so I think I did the right thing getting a bigger house, silly sensible Sammy ;) the prices etc and the dollar/pound rate was really good at the time ahhh well .... no real regrets ;)

Ahhh but the Yacht Club Gazebo was so special for us anyway
