Can anyone explain exact routes of the water vehicles around the MK area resorts.

Specifically, is there a direct route from the contemporary to the LW and FW? I know that each of the resorts has a launch to the MK, but I always forget how to get from resort to resort by boat. Thanks.

There is a launch that serves CR, WL & FW. It goes between the three resorts only. There is a seperate launch that services these resorts to the MK.

As the previous poster said, there are the green and blue boats that dock immediately in front of the main entrance to MK. These are large enclosed ferry boats that serve MK, WL and FW in a continuous loop.

There are also the what I call the mini-boats which are covered, but open, smaller boats that serve the CR, WL and FW in a continuous loop. These two boats run in opposite directions around the lake, but they do not serve MK.

There used to be service that connected the Poly with the other hotels. Does that exist any more?

Yes, its there. One or more launches (look like "Jungle Cruise" boats) on the same route.

Route: MK > Grand Floridian > Poly > MK, loop.

The loading of all boat and ferry service is marked on the banners above the various entrances to the docks.

The big TTC ferrys are way to the left as you face the lake.

The "green-flag" boats (they're pretty large craft as well) that service MK, FtW, and WL dock at the large awing-covered "center" waiting area.

The MK, Gnd Flr, Poly launches dock at separate small loading areas on either side (one side or the other, look for the signs) of the big "green-flag" dock.

There is a boat that goes from Poly/GF/MK.

There used to be a boat from Poly to CR to FW but this has been gone for a long time.

How many boats are in service from MK to WL area? We are going down during Memorial Day weekend and have reservations at Whispering Canyon from MK. I'm trying to decide how much time to allow for our boat ride.

There may be up to 4 at a time.
They are quite large and hold a lot of guests.

We have never waited more than 10 minutes between boats.
The trip takes about 10-15 minutes to its first stop.

BUT... these boats can go EITHER to WL first, then FtW....
or FtW first, then WL...
so it might take 20-25 minutes if you get on the "FtW-first" boat-route.
(I would not "wait for the next boat" becasue it might be going the same route, too.)

Its always wise to arrive at your EMH 15 minutes early.

So, I'd leave MK and be on the boat dock 45-60 minutes before your ressie time.
Besides, if you get there early and check-in, they might seat you early, if you like... and, WL is a GREAT place to sit and relax (or EXPLORE).

Thanks Robo for the advice on the WL boat service. :thumbsup2 I won't mind being early for our ressies since our our DS's have never been the WL yet. Maybe we can see the geyser erupt before lunch...
