MK very crowded tonight, but hey let's close at 11:00

Wow, it's getting really snarky here. Can't we just all get along? Or something.

Even though this thread was moved because it didn't help with planning I am grateful that people keep reporting closing times. I think that it helps us.

I just read this thread and am floored by the Disney apologists actually sticking up for less hours at a time when there's less attractions and prices keep going up. Honestly why do you care if someone complains about Disney? There's a lot to complain about these days.

It is funny how angry some get when the rest of the crew doesn't get all up in arms over what is bothering them. Park hours change from year to year. Heck, I've even had them change during my trip. I can't help but wonder how many posters who are angry about the supposedly missing hour were even at the parks. Or were at the parks from when they opened until they closed.

If the "missing" hour is so upsetting complain to Disney. If you are at the parks (who are truly the only ones with an honest beef) go to Guest Services. Otherwise it is like me, sitting here at home, complaining about something happening at 6 Flags when I am not there and won't be. Or like sitting at home complaining about the cost of movie snacks.

If you are upset, notify Disney that you are upset. But don't insult and knock the rest of us for not finding the missing hour something to get worked up over. That only makes your outrage seem over the top. Be mad, but realize not everyone else will be mad.

I usually don't. But in the summer I do. Many people use those late hours to make up for time lost hiding in the room during the blazing heat (and showers) of the Florida in the summer in the afternoon.
WDW doesn't close when it's blazing hot out, or when it rains. Many guests visit/remain in the parks then. Guests who choose to return to the hotel cant reasonably expect customized park hours.
Yep, and the most beloved Theme Park on Earth thinks the customer should be magically happy with a 11 pm closing.
If fifteenish hours aren't enough, what is? :confused3
Folks, I had a terrific time.
It's everyone else Im worried about.
Bless your heart. You worry about you, the rest of us are able to worry about ourselves.
I absolutely adore how Disney maniacs get angry when others feel the hours at the Most Magical Place on Earth - again the place the maniacs love most - should not be longer.

Simply makes no sense to me.
Are you sure that's what you meant to say?

Speaking of making no sense...reread your post. It says the "maniacs" get upset when you "others" feel the park hours should NOT be longer.

I thought you were upset because the park hours weren't longer??

Non-Maniacs, like myself, feel the park hours should be longer and true Masters Level Maniacs disagree.

I'm so lost.

I guess they feel the place is More Magical The Less It's Open?

Perhaps Extra Magic Hours should change to "More Ordinary Time Than Normal"

Sometimes you just cannot explain crazy.

Be blessed.

Well said. I never use those later hours, so one hour more that I will not use matters not to me. I have never used EMH, early or afte hours. I understand why people who use those hours are upset if they lose time, but I don't feel the pain. I will not pile on. I don't bok PPO meals to get a ride on the Mine Train, so if the park opens early and I want that meal, I keep it. I do like a quieter entrance to the MK and I do like getting a shorter SB wait for Peter Pan, so I hope for a normal opening, but I will not get peeved if DIsney keeps the early exta thing they have going on in place. It does not bother me at all.

I would pay for a Frozen early open breakfast, M&G and attraction event. My family would all chip in if it meant they DD not need to stand in lines with me and the girls.

I think we all have ou own lines we will nto costs, but they are all not the same. The OP has this one that is upsetting, but it is not my worry. I expect that it may bother some, but my personal peeve that perhaps Disney adds resort fees to room charges may not bother others. I refuse to ridicule them because they have different issues, or perhaps none at all.

I don't go to DIsney to max the parks, so I refuse to get worked up over things I have never needed or wanted. I won't pile on and I am insulted everytime I am referred to as an apologist because I honestly don't care about an hour here or there, something someone got for free that I did not, events that folks pay for that I choose not to pay for, or changes in policy that seem to make sense to me.

If I have an issue, one that impacts me, I will go to Disney and discuss it. If I determine I am nto getting a value from my vacation spending, I will send elsewhere. I will not I insult anyone who decides otherwise.

No one is telling you that your feelings are misplaced. We are saying that not all of us care about that hour, and do not understand why that bothers you. In over 10 years of multiple visits I have never stayed til park close after 10. Not once. I never cared when the MK closed earlier seasonally if I was there in January. I knew that going in. I have never used EMH and do not intend to start now, so I am not impacted by the so called cuts in hours. I make a plan, use it and find that it works for us.

You get to be unhappy about the hour you missed. I get it. I do nto need to be upset because even if I was there I would not have used it, and I refuse to jump on a bandwagon fueling fires just to satisfy you or anyone else. I know you do nto like it when people disagree with you, you have made it clear you would prefer that I do not comment on you posts. That is not how message boards work, and you would find that more people would actually engage if they knew you woudl nto insult their opinions when they are not in lockstep with yours.

Wow, I was behind reading. It sure is snarky.

Yes, they did.

And our party was at the park by 7:15. Same thing occurred on Sunday 6.5.

Selfishly IMO later hours are better than early.

I'm an early morning person. We do rope drop almost every day of our trips. Except in the summer. In the heat of summer, we prefer the later hours as well (to avoid the sun).

I can get everything done at Universal by 8 PM. MK not so much and yes that makes a difference.

Well in all fairness, not many people can get everything done in MK with 15-16 hours at their disposal in June.

I agree hours should be longer in the summer, but posted hours are posted hours and consumers need to adapt accordingly. It's tough to change on the fly with that many workers. If they are going to be extended it needs to generally be done in advance, not day of. It's more poor planning by park management (or cheapness) than "oh it's this crowded today, let's extend an hour".

LOL, there's a lot of distance between wanting the same late hours they have offered in the past (in a time of record profits and growing attendance) and expecting customized park hours.

I'd hate to have spent so much money and vacation time, only to have it ruined by this.

I'm sorry to see that Disney World's hours have caused so much unhappiness. : (

You are all welcome to disagree with each other, but please keep the sarcastic and argumentative posts at a non-existent roar.

:thanks:

I wonder if anyone besides me gets so tired of the constant "if you don't like it don't go" comments? That is obvious but I imagine that those who find fault still find value or at the very least still have hope. I don't understand why it bothers some people so much if people critique certain things.

Shorter hours are just that - shorter hours. It doesn't matter if Disney owes people longer hours or not. Or if Disney has enough attractions or decent food or clean bathrooms or reasonable prices..etc. What matters is whether people still see value in what they get. I think that forums are the perfect place to discuss these things both good and bad and to coin a phrase "if you don't like it don't read the thread".

Another thought, it's not like Disney took hours away and forced plans to be changed. They published the hours. You should make plans based on those. If people planned in hopes of a change in hours then that is on them.

Almost immediately the OP got slammed because he "didn't plan" and "it's summer, of course it is crowded". Except, WDW had an 8 % increase in attendance in 2015, can't plan that. And, there are shorter hours than the year before which he was PLANNING on. I also PLANNED on longer hours over Easter because I knew (from planning) that there were higher crowds in winter 2015 over winter 2014. Also, in the past, they extended hours farther out, while I was PLANNING, I noticed that did indeed add some hours to the published hours (not as much) but closer to my trip. Interfering with my PLANS. So I planned for higher crowds over peak season but WDW did not.

Disney makes planning difficult by constantly changing their own rules. Like, Wishes assigned seating.

If the parks are more crowded they should be adding hours, not having shorter hours. And even if I don't utilize the extra hour at the end of the day, that will my the rope drop the next morning that much less crowded.

So, I think a thread complaining about changes in hours is absolutely appropriate.
