MK TS- impossible to eat at without ressie?

I've made all our ressies's, but I'm thinking we might like to try Tony's or the Plaza, but really don't want to be held to the idea. The last time we went to WDW Liberty Tree Tavern was impossible to get into but I think it was still a character meal at the time. Does anyone know how popular or hard it might be to eat at Tony's or the Plaza without a ressie?

My previous 2 trips to WDW, both in May (before Memorial Day weekend), I found it impossible to get a same-day or walk-up TS meal.

At least at Epcot, I could always get something, even if it was at an odd time.

I never say impossible. But every time we eat at the Plaza (we either go around 11:30 or 4:00) they are turning walk-ups away.

I was able to get in at CP in early May and Yak & Yeti in September without ADR's. I had 1:00 reservations at both places, but I got hungry earlier and decided to give it a shot at around 11:00-11:30. I think I waited about 15 minutes at CP and had no wait at Y&Y. It can be done, but I definitely wouldn't count on it.

We have walked into Tony's and Crystal Palace without a reservation before for dinner.

looks like you're going to be there during a busy time (March 2009) - there will be crowds with Spring break going on in many parts of the country. If you do want to try walk-up, I would go for very early lunch or very late lunch. You can also call that morning & try for an ADR for that day.

This past December my friends and I walked into Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch without an ADR and waited no more then 5 minutes to be seated, when the waiting area was packed.

I think it depends on when you go....we have never had luck getting into Tonys but have for CP.... we were there in Jan and last week and LTT, CP and Tonys were taking walk ins all day long

We tried to get a dinner back on 2/9. No one was taking walk ups. We ended up eating at Columbia Harbor House. Lesson learned for me. To have a ADR at MK for dinner.

I'd suggest getting an ADR before you leave for the day you plan to be in MK, but KEEP your current ADRs for your other locations. Just make the ADR for a different time. eg, if you have a dinner ADR then get a late lunch ADR at Tony's or CP. You can make up your mind where/what you want eat the day before or the day of and then cancel whichever ADR you don't want to keep. If you cancel well before meal time you'll make someone else's day when they call the day of. (The Dining reservation system won't limit your reservations. When I called for my ADRs the CM made several reservations for me all within 1 hour of each other nope not planned by me, just discussing options and they reserved them all anyway )
