Seeing that alot of folks are saying MK is a zoo on saturdays. Our trip is next month and planned on doing MK on Sat and AK on Sunday. We will only have 2 days in the parks so would we be better going to MK on sunday and AK on saturday?

Has anyone done MK on a sat in january, hoping since the crowds are lower it would be ok.

10 days and counting.. :D

Really I don't know when MK is not crowded. MK is the best park they have because it accomodates to every age group. On Saturdays the locals come out to play and the travelers. I don't know MK personally in Jan., but I could guess it will be like what AK is, a zoo .

We've gone to MK on Saturday many times, just there on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Be there when the park opens, do all your must-dos first thing. If you have little ones, head straight up through the castle to Fantasyland and do every ride. If you have older kids, head for either Tomorrowland (Space Mtn, Buzz) or to Frontierland (Big Thunder Mtn and Splash). We stayed until around 1:00 or 2:00, then hopped to Epcot for the remainder of the afternoon, then hopped back to MK for Spectro and Wishes and stayed until closing. The evening was pretty full, but still were able to do a good many rides after the parade.

Sunday is an EE day at MK, if you are staying onsite, you could get in earlier on Sunday, but the as the day goes on, it gets busy. MK is always busy it seems. January should be a slower time though and you should be able to see a good deal in just two days.

I would rather either shoot myself in the foot or drink a huge glass of Draino than go into the MK on a Sat. It is crowded and stroller he**.

Ummmm, don't hold back Gail, tell us how you really feel. :p

DH and I did MK on a Sat on our last trip, but here's what we did:
We had a 9:30 PS at Crystal Palace, so we were in the park by EE. We did all our favorite rides in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, then headed over to CP for our PS. After that, we did our FP for Buzz and then decided it was time to leave the park. As we were leaving, around noon or so we caught a show at the castle. We watched and enjoyed it and then headed on out of there. It was getting nuts and I was ready to go. It was our second day at MK anyway, so nothing was missed.

Against my better judgement mom wanted to go to MK on a Sat. when we visited Jan. 02. We were coming from the GF on the monorail arrived in the station at MK got off and proceeded to get back on the next monorail as the crowd was incredible!

We just are not crowd people so in 17 days on our next visit we will skip any urge to go to the MK on a Sat!

Happy travels!

Colleen

I agree, MK on Saturday is much busier than the rest of the week. I believe Sunday is Extra Magic Hour, so if you can get there early and are eligible, I would go that route. If you cannot get there for that, then I'd say you are better off to get there prior to opening on Saturday. You can get quite a bit done right away, but by mid afternoon the MK is a zoo on Saturdays.

I think it all depends on what time of year you go to MK on a Saturday as well. When we went In November to MK on a Saturday it wasn't all THAT bad. Though, if you go to MK on a Saturday during Peak Season or even the Christmas Season, I can see how it would be horrible.

We're planning to go to MK for dinner and Spectro/Wishes on Saturday, February 7. Is it THAT bad? Should we skip Spectro altogether then? It will be me, DH, DS 10, DS 9, and DD 1. Is Spectro worth the crowds? (It is also showing on Tuesday, but that is our arrival day, and the next Tuesday we have Cirque tickets, so it is Saturday or not at all!)

I gotta agree with Gail - There isn't much that could entice me to go to MK on a Sat......
I guess if you get yourself mentally prepared, it is doable..... for Spectro, plan on staking your claim a good 45 min. ahead & be prepared to have folks try to wiggle their way in front of you anyways..... Be prepared to do more people-watching than attraction-experiencing & where sturdy shoes to protect those tootsies from trampling......

We usually go 2x's a year to WDW, in Sept and then in Jan.
These times of the year are usually pretty light, but, even keeping that in mind, MK is a scary place (for me) on Sat.
Very crowded.
