This may sound crazy - but has anyone tried to do the MK photo shoot the day after the wedding, and just try really hard to salvage your wedding day hair and makeup?

I hate the idea of getting up at 3:30 or 4 AM to get ready for the shoot...ugh, but I keep flip flopping about the MK shoot - they pics are so pretty (for the most part anyways)...and it's something that is just SO Disney!

I am just going to do my own hair and makeup for the photo shoot. I will most likely just do it for the wedding as well. I don't want to pay for hair and makeup three times... trial, wedding day, MK photo shoot. I don't know if it would last overnight, it might but what would you do if you wake up and it's a mess?

I'm probably doing my own hair for the mk shoot. I'm using a hair piece on my wedding day that I'm havin patricia style and I will just use it again on that day since it's already styled.

I'm not completely decided but I'll talk to Patricia about it when I have my trial and decide then.

My MK shoot was 2 days after the wedding, and I decided to just do it myself - because the MK shoots I'd seen were not close-up at all so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal.

Well, my DPS photographer DID do closeups, and my makeup looks fine, but my hair leaves something to be desired. If I had to do it again - I would just fork over the cash and have my hair re-done. My hair isn't awful - but it kind of looks like I rolled out of bed and straight to the shoot.

We have decided to do our MK and AK photo shoot 2 days after the VR, the reason was that we kept hearing how exhausted everybody was after their weddings and how they had to get up sooo early. So we talked it over and we are taking the day after the wedding to sleep in and just take it all in and then I will have Patricia come in the next day and do my hair and make up all over for the shoot. That way we get to be more rested and enjoy the experience to the fullest, plus probably will make us better models as well :lmao:

My MK shoot was 3 days after our wedding so there was no salvaging anything. I know that many girls can salvage their wedding day hairstyles for a next day shoot. (Lisa Pena my hair/make up artist told me that she was cancelled once even after a bride had been on R&RC b/c her hair stayed until the MK shoot the next AM!) I couldn't. I considered doing it myself to save $$. Especially b/c my hair was an updo so I could easily throw it back in a bun and do my usual dance make up ( I used to be a pro dancer for Disney/Busch/cruises) and be good to go. But, I realized after my trial that I just couldn't/didn't want to stress about having to do it so early that AM. Lisa came bright and early and actually she calmed me down and just put me at ease before the shoot. We talked about the wedding and how everything went which was just great! My hair lasted all day & I actually (once again) had little girls asking their mom's which princess I was and why I didn't have my dress on! :rotfl: Only at WDW.....anyway. I know it's always great to save $$, but one of our MK pics is a huge print in our house and it wouldn't look as great had I not had my hair and make-up professionally done. Also, friends and family that didn't attend the wedding don't realize that the shoot didn't take place the actual wedding day which is fun. Makes it even more special in my book. So I say splurge....it's the only time you'll do it so do it up right! :goodvibes

Also, a lot of the shots are far away, but a few of my favs are closer up and wouldn't be what they are w/o my hair/make-up being done the same as the wedding day:

HTH a little. I know I'm giving a different perspective, but in the end I am so glad I spent the extra $$ that morning! :goodvibes

Thanks a bunch ladies - I was thinking about this late into the night last night (that seems to be a trend working up to the wedding....) and IF I can budget the MK shoot in I will probably just splurge, get my hair and makeup redone, and do the shoot a few days after the wedding...we are going to be dead-on-our feet tired the morning after, and that's no way to go into a $1200 photo shoot :)

Beautiful photos! I love that the castle is in Christmas mode for your MK photos, it makes them unique!

We're doing ours same day - wake up 4AM, hair and make up (since I almost never wear any), MK photo shoot, my daughters hair is getting done while I drink a few pots of coffee wearing a bedsheet around me and then 10AM wedding. Maybe a little untraditional for him to see me the day of the wedding in my dress before the ceremony... but I want pretty hair and to get it all done so I can have a really REALLY long nap in the afternoon :D

Plus we're both over 30. And its our wedding!

Doing it this way would save you the bedhead and the extra cost :D

I thought of doing this, but our wedding is at noon, and it's a pretty full day ending with a DP, so we'd never make it!!
