I have been looking at all the MK photoshoots that people have been putting with their signatures. We are planning on a November (08) VR so the sun won't be up when we do them. I am not sure if I like them and wondering if it would be worth the cost. Will they not do them during sunrise? Do you wish you had done the shoot or have any regets doing the shoot?

I was wondering the same thing, so I'm glad you posted this. I was also wondering if it was worth the $800 to have to get up and get presentable so early. How flexible they are with where and what pictures they take, etc... Thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to seeing the responses :)

From what I've heard from others, they take photo's on the carousel and the castle, and some days there's a 5am and 6am shoot. I believe you can request they do the castle photo's last so that it is lighter by then as the carousel shots are quite close-up so not dependent on the light for good results.
My VR is Dec and I too was a little concerned about it still being dark. I do quite like the effect of the castle lit-up but would much prefer daylight photo's, especially for the high cost.

Maybe someone who's actually had a Nov / Dec MK photoshoot could comment or show their photo's?

In December, whether you get the 5 or 6a.m. shoot, it's probably going to be pretty dark. We are getting married Dec. 18 and have booked our MK shoot for the following morning at 5 a.m. (the 6a.m. was already taken). Some brides have gotten lucky with their photographers and have been able to get some more unique locations like the tea cups or on main street etc., but for the most part it is just the castle and the carousel. I guess it just depends on the photographer that you get! I really struggled with this and justifying the cost, but in the end I realized that I would only have this chance one time and it would almost priceless to be in the MK by ourselves with the photographer -- so we're doing it!! :)

Just my piece of advice. We did take the pictures 2 days after our wedding. You have, I think a year to take the pictures. There is really no rush. With the craziness and how tired you are after the wedding, I would almost recommend that people wait a few months or a year and then go back and do it. Just because I think you would enjoy it more and not be so bleary eyed.

I had mine done in November 04. I would totally recommend the MK shoot! They don't have our photos on their website anymore though for viewing (and I haven't scanned them all yet).

that's a great idea, you could use it in the summer for better light, but unfortunately for us that live so far away I couldn't really justify carrying all my wedding attire back a 2nd time - it's gonna be bad enough first time! Maybe we could store our dresses in Disney's huuuuuge costume wardrobes until our next visit?!!

I would recommend doing the MK shoot. Where else will you get unique photo's like that. I actually wanted some of the dark shots with the castle in color but the sun came up already when we did our in late March.

I think I'm in the minority in not doing it and not regretting it one bit. DH and I were not interested at all. For one thing, we are not morning people so getting up and getting all dressed up at the crack of pre-dawn sounded horrific! It was hard enough to get up at 9:00 to get ready for our day-after brunch :rotfl:

Those I've read about on this board who did the shoot have been very pleased and so if you think you want it, you should do it. It is pretty much a once in a lifetime opportunity.

One question for those who did it - just curious - do you get all of your proofs for the ~$800 fee or do you have to pay extra on top of that? And are they printed proofs or on a CD? TIA!

Yes, you get copies of all of the prints.

First we received the link from Disney to view the pictures on-line. When you look at the pictures on-line they ahve "proof" on them. We then received in the mail, a portfolio with 8 pictures (picked by Disney). I believe these are 3x5 pictures. Then we received a separate box with 4x6 prints of all of the pictures that were taken.

You can also order whatever additional prints/sizes you would like through Rosie.

I'm also in the didn't do it, don't regret it catagory. When I first started planning I was toooootally going to do them. But then I looked through all the pictures in the picture thread, and realized I didn't think they were worth $1000 (after second hair and make-up, and steaming etc..) So I decided to put that money to other things that I knew I'd never regret. So we had a second cake (they wouldn't let me upgrade my first one, and it was actually cheaper to have a second), and a dessert welcome party at the Grand. And didn't have to worry about how much money I spent on souvies since I had extra money to play with. In the end if you think you'll regret it later then do it, if you think you can live without it then you have extra money you hadn't planned on.

I'm going to agree with everyone who said if you want to do it ....then go ahead (5am is really early)....but I've always wanted a picture of me in my dress on the bridge by the castle......so it had to be included

I'm definately going for it, as I remember a saying that goes something like you should only regret things you did but never things you never did, plus for me it's likely to be my one and only chance.
I'm fortunate enough that we are older so money is not so tight for us now. Maybe if it's the money that's making you think, perhaps you could politely request 'contributions' as wedding gifts? Or maybe make a promise to yourselves to renew your vows and include the MK photoshoot in the future.
In the end, only you can make the decision so I would probably sit down and write a 'for' and 'againt' list to help you make the choice - good luck! :shamrock:

::yes:: I totally agree with Jonette on this. DH and I didnt' have a very postive MK photo shoot experience, and I think how tired we were played a big part in that.

On the flip side, dispite the best laid plans, we never made it back to Disney again until almost a year and a half after the wedding, so if you are thinking of delaying it, make sure you check on what the actual time restrictions are on having it done.

I'd say if you can afford it, go for it--there are not many people in the world who can say that they've been in Cinderella Castle in their wedding dress! :)

DH wanted to do it... Once we saw the cost and the fact that I wasn't so keen on having to be up at the crack of dawn, getting re-dressed, hair and makeup done again! We decided against it. Part of me feels like I should've done it, but do I regret it, not really, we have so many fantastic pictures that I'm OK with it.

i'm with everyone else, if you have the money and don't mind getting up early, go for it.

I just read this post and thought I'd give my opinion on my MK photo shoot. I know it was my dream and very important for me to have photos at Cinderella's Castle. Our time was scheduled the day after our wedding at 5:00am. I was pumped for it until the day of the wedding came and I didn't feel like getting up so early the day after our wedding. My wedding was at 11:00am, so I was up early on the day of my wedding as well! I chose not to have my hair and make-up done for the MK photos. I didn't want to pay to have all that redone #1...plus...that meant getting up way too early for me! I know I was only concerned the "not so close-up" pictures anyway with the whole castle behind us. What we noticed happend is we got more tired as the photo shoot went on...all perky in the first photos and then by the end we look half asleep. You can tell it in the pics...haha! Luckily all the shots by the Castle were taken first. We had an amazing photographer, who was so sweet and wonderful! He even gave us a behind the scene tour and all of that. After all the special "behind the scene" stuff...it was worth it...even without the photos in our opinion! It was so much fun to climb up on Cindy's Castle. How many people can say they did that!? The pictures that were most important came out perfect, so I am happy. The photos are expensive and you are really only paying for the fee to have them taken. You really don't get any photos with the package...well...really small ones. It's an expensive sitting fee, but worth it if it's something you want!

the only problem with that is....after all of the money spent on the wedding and the honeymoon where would you get the cash to go back? you know?
