Ok, so here's my question..... TRADITIONALLY the groom is not supposed to see the bride before the wedding, so that makes the MK photo session take place the day after the wedding and someone has to come back in and do hair/make-up/freshen the bouquet. But my DW and I are looking at doing a vow renewal; the only problem is I can't tell her about it until about 4-5 weeks before it takes place. So I'm wondering, should I book the photo session for the morning OF the vow renewal and then she only has to have hair/make-up/flowers done once? :confused3 And then after we can have the vow renewal? What does everyone think? What would YOU do?

I think it makes a lot of sense to book the shoot right before the Vow Renewal, but a couple of people have mentioned how exhausted you are after getting up at 4AM for the shoot and going straight through to the ceremony. This recent thread had a lot of great ideas:

I've heard a few brides say that their dress got very dirty at the bottom during the MK photoshoot, so please bear that in mind if her dress will be long.
I'm hoping for the next morning so my flowers will still be fresh, but I won't be so bothered about soiling my dress then.

It certainly saves you $ and time to do photo shoot (and makeup etc) on the same day.

It also depends on what you plan to do after your vow renewal ceremony on that day. If you gonna have lots of activities afterwards that day, yes you could feel very tired before sunset !!

We did it a few days after. Actually it was very nice and not as stressful. I did pay for the refresh and the additional makeup. We thought about doing it the same day but we had an early morning wedding. I had to be up at 4 am as it was. (I am not an early morning person.) Therefore we decided to do it a few days later.

Personally, unless I need the shoot to meet a custom minimum, I wouldn't do it the day of the wedding. I think it would be easier to enjoy the shoot knowing that when it was over you could go back to bed if you wanted, plus it will extend the magic of your vow renewal day just a little longer :)

Ok, so after hearing all of your opinions, it seems like the majority says to NOT do it the day of the vow renewal. So let me ask this; do they do the MK photo shoot every day or are there certain days of the week that they won't allow it? For instance, our VR is Friday and we would then have the photo shoot on Saturday. I guess this is ok? :confused3 What do you think? And for those of you that waited a day or more, did you do your own hair and make-up for the shoot or did you bring the professionals back in?

We are doing the MK photo shoot the day after the wedding. Our wedding is scheduled for 10.00am and BeautySpeciale are coming in at 06.00am, so it is already gonna be a long day. As for the MK shoot, it is already booked for 05.00am on Saturday the 18th and I am just gonna do my make up and hair myself, I think..... I'm not sure if BeautySpeciale would come out at 03.00am, plus I'm pretty good when it comes to make up, it's my hair I'm worried about.

They do the shoots every day. Depending on the days of the year there may be one, two , or even three times available. You will need to work this out with Disney Photographic Services closer to the time of your VR.
