How does the photo shoot work? They pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the MK? Where do they drop you off? Do they drive you back?

I have read it takes about 1 1/2 hours. How good are they about taking pictures in other areas than the castle and carousel?

They pick you up from you hotel at 6am. The photo shoot last approx. one hour and then they return you to your hotel. It totally depends on the photographer if they will take pictures in other areas. I don't think you are really supposed to but some of them will bend the rules a little. Also work crews will be all over the place so some places might automatically be off limits. It never hurts to ask your photog the morning of and see what he says.

Wow I didn't know they pick you up at your hotel. What do they pick you up in, reg. car or like a bus?

We got picked up at 6:00 am in a van by our photographer and shot at the castle front, carousel, back of castle and inside the castle. We got dropped off at the Boardwalk a little after 8:00 am.

Does anyone know what time it starts getting light in December. I was speaking to someone in the photography dept and she said that the sunrise is around 7am but it usually gets light a little bit before this? just wondering how much before?

We're having the pics of us in front of the castle at the end of the shoot so that we get more light in the pics.

The photographer will drive a van to pick you two up at your hotel. How good are they ? I would say their shots are pretty standard. If you have a few personal fav poses, you should point that out to the photographer as early as possible as the entire session doesn't take long at all.

This site should help you finding out the sunrise /sunset time in lots of cities

This is probably a stupid Q, but here goes...

What exactly do you get for the fee? Do they just take the 12 pics and that's it? Or, do they take a load of pics and you pic the 12? If that's the case, what happens to the rest of the pics? Do you get them (digitally) for you to make your own copies if you want?

How does this work with an outside photographer?

Can someone explain how the whole process works? Do you pay for their time or do you pay for the photos or both? (My preference would be to pay someone $X an hour to take tons of pics and I own all the pics - is this possible?) Plus, I don't like the idea of someone owning a copyright of MY images.

Sorry for the ignorance - never had to hire a photographer before, and I know there are copyright issues.

We did our MK photo shoot on May 2 at 5am. The link to our photos is in my signature. Our pictures are all dark because the sun was not up yet at 5am. It alsmost looks like they were taken at night--which is kind of nice because ours are different from most other MK photo shoots. But, I would have liked some in front of the castle when it was light outside. We did the 5am slot because all of the 6am slots were full.

Our photographer was Ty. On our way into the MK I asked about different places, i.e., the TeaCups and the Haunted Mansion--just something different besides the castle and the carousel. Ty said that they no longer do any of the shots in any locations other than the castle and the carousel. They are only allowed to do these shots due to safety concerns in the park (there's a lot going on at 5am and 6am!!) as well as one bride getting something extra and another being disappointed because they weren't able to get into a different part of the park for photos. The only exception (again, according to Ty) is if there is something going on (like repairs, etc.) where a specific area wouldn't be available--say if the carousel is under refurbishment, then they would use an alternate location. They are limited to an hour for each MK photo shoot so that they are gone by the time the next couple arrives--if there are two shoots. The 6am couple must be done by 7 as they are clearing the park at that point to get ready for the 8am arrival of early morning breakfast guests.

The fee is $800 and you CANNOT use an outside photographer. The Magic Kingdom Photo Shoot is only offered to DFTW couples and must be booked through Disney Photography. They take pictures for an hour. About 2-3 weeks after the photo shoot, you will receive an email from collages.net with a link to your photos. The photos are not printable or able to be copied. They have "Proof" written on them. About 1 week to 10 days after that you will receive a soft cover proofbook of your photos. Approximately 2 weeks after that we receved via FedEx (and requiring a signature so you have to be home to sign for it), a portfolio with 12 of our pictures displayed--I think they are 3x5. Disney picked the 12 pictures to display, we did not get a choice. We also received a small box with 4x6 prints of all of the photographs that were taken. They are all copyrighted, so I don't know that you would be able to get copies of them made anywhere. When I spoke with Rosie @ Disney Photography, she indicated that if we wanted any additional photographs or larger prints, to contact her and she would order them for us at an additional charge.

The photographer takes quite a few pictures. You get 12 in a tri-fold album and the rest are loose. They do not say proof on them. You can order more pictures and enlargements. If you want a digital disk I believe the cost is $1000.00, after 3 years the price drops to about $100.00.

No outside photographer is allowed for this.

You pay the set fee of $850.00. Disney ownes the pictures. You get copies or pay for a high resolution disk and make your own copies.

Hope this helps.

So do they do this photo shoot the morning of your wedding or an entirely different day than your wedding? I look awful at 6am-lol.

is that when you receive the link to your photos on collages.net is that they do say "Proof" on the photos on the website. The word "Proof" is not there when you receive the actual pictures in the mail; however, it is on my photos as they appear on their website. I assume this is to insure that you do not print or copy the pictures from there.

That seems early. So you have to get your hair and makeup done before this?
This is your choice; although, most birdes do seem to choose to have the stylist and make-up people come for the MK photo shoot as well. They usually arrive at 4:30 to begin getting you ready for the 6am shoot. I was told that they would be there at 3:30am for our 5am shoot if we chose to have hair and make-up done. I did not. I went with more natural hair and make-up for our MK photo shoot and just did it myself.

You can pick the day to do your MK photo shoot. If you only want to do hair and make-up one time and you don't mind your FDH seeing you in your dress then do it the morning of your wedding. We did ours the day after our vow renewal. Our renewal was at 4pm and I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep my hair done, etc. And, for us, since we had our kids with us, I knew that my in-laws were keeping them in their room the night of our renewal so we could do the MK shoot the morning after and not have to worry about what to do with the kids. I think that you also have the option of doing the MK photoshoot up to one year after your DFTW. We were offered that option because of the lighting on the castle for grad nights which would be up for our photo shoot. However, I knew if my DH didn't do it while we were there with our wedding attire, we would never take all that stuff back to Florida just for pictures.

Mommy Poppins,
Your pictures are very pretty...
We were told something similiar about not taking photos on different attractions etc, just like we were told that we were not allowed to take pictures up on the castle. Yet, when I look at people's pictures, oddly enough-there are many pictures up on the castle. I complained about this, only to be told that the photographers were not supposed to have couples up on the castle...that was in 2002. I think we got great pictures despite that fact, but I would have loved to have the pictrue up on the castle. Maybe individual photographers do things differently? Not sure...I just know mine didn't budge on the castle thing
We also had the honeymoon photo package and those photos came out great too...so other than not getting my castle shot, I can't complain...after I have my 2nd baby in February, I would like to do a photo shoot with my family at disney--maybe then I can get my castle shot

The photo session was great (early but wonderful), and every photographer is different. We asked if we could take a picture by tomorrow land, and he told us if we ran in that direction he would follow...So we did get one. Also they will let you on the stair case leading up to the top of the castle, but you have to stay on the stairs (which isnt that great of a shot).

I soooo want the MK photo package, but I keep seeing lots of photo's in the dark with the castle lit up, and while I quite like this, I'd really, really, like our photo's in the light! Is there any chance of getting daylight photo's? Our's would be Dec incidentally.

Our photos are very dark because we were the 5am shoot. If you book the 6am slot and tell the photographer you want to wait for more sun to do the front of the castle shots, they will start with the pictures in the back first, i.e., carousel, inside the castle, etc.

thanks Mommy Poppins, I never thought about doing the castle last, I guess I thought you had to follow a 'set route'!
