I had planned to skip the parade, since it seems like it will be a huge pain. I worry about finding a good spot to sit, and my kids being able to see. Also not sure how far ahead of time we would need to find a spot... However, now I wonder if NOT going to the parade is a mistake? My girls are 3 and 4. Will they love it!? Can I get fp for it!? Any opinions would be appreciated...

When are you going? FPs are pretty limited in number and do go fast.

It really does come with a certain hassle factor, but I bet your girls would love it. If you decide to go, I would recommend finding a spot in Frontierland where the crowds don't seem to be as intense.

We will be there the beginning of May. If we do the parade, we are hoping for the afternoon one on May 3. How early would we need to stake out our spot? I just went to YouTube to see the parade and I agree that my girls would probably love it! I never really enjoyed parades, but even I was impressed ;)

I think early May is a lower crowd time. I would give it a try. If you are in the MK more than one day, I'd check out the area 45 minutes before parade time. Then if you don't find a good spot, try showing up early your next day there.

I also think your girls will love the parade. :)

Head deep into Frontierland (past Country Bears) or go to a spot near Hall of Presidents.
Arrive at or before 2:30 at either location.

The FoF (3 O'Clock) parade will enter the park in Frontierland near Splash Mtn.
