MK opened earlier than scheduled?

The only time it bothers me is if I miss the opening show. Oh it makes me sad.

Not to hijack the thread, we've never done RD - what is the 'Welcome Show' and where do you see it?

It's out front, up on the train tracks. Train comes with characters and cast members and they officially open the park (with song and dance of course). There is usually a family of the day also

Agreed. But because it says "about" doesn't mean those event guests won't complain.

Would you be happy with only 50 minutes of exclusive time? I know I wouldn't.
No, I would not and this is why I wouldn't be doing it also. Just not really enough there or enough time. Though the breakfast sounds tasty. Maybe it will come to be as another breakfast option even if they don't keep the EMM

I think there is no chance they will continue to let people in early on days they offer the special event. Even if they offered FP access after rope drop, they would still end up with ticked off guests. I know if I paid $70/head to be there, knowing people would be let in after 9, and they showed up at 8:45 instead, I would be unhappy with that. Part of the value is not having to fight your way through a sea of bodies, even if you get FP access. And once they start putting people into the standby line, what are they going to do, make them stand there and wait until 9? No. So even if you are FP, you are "sharing" ride access with standby at that point.

I think this is EXACTLY what they are going to do. It is easy. They already have those three lines set up to do exactly this. It allows the EMM people their exclusive access, but also allows the traditional rope drop crowd their typical experience. The only difference will be that the people at the front of the rope drop mass will be at the front of the standby lines at 9:00 when the park "opens". There will be no early rides for them, as those will be reserved for the EMM.

So you see it outside the gates at the security check points? How fun. Gotta get there early one day.

The Morning Money Hours guests will be as happy as regular park guests in the evening having to share a more crowded park with Evening Money Hours guests.

All the while, the Guest Relations people in the front will be dealing with complaints while the marketing people in the back will be doing this:

Buyer beware on the morning access package. Nowhere does it guarantee an empty park for pictures, etc. all it promises is a buffet and access to three rides. They can announce tomorrow a "Big Mountain Package" and serve breakfast at Be Our Guest and not violate what they are selling here. They could let everyone in the park at 8am and just rope off three rides if they so choose.

Also, if the mine train breaks down, "experiences subject to change", so if they sub Space Mountain or something else you have no refund coming. I could not see them refunding any money if mine train goes down, you probably get another roller coaster and a fast pass.

To each his own of course, but I would be very cautious about booking this one, even if I had the cash to burn

No, you can't really see it from outside security. You'll need to be in the plaza area to see it well, in front of the Mickey flower bed

I think you are sort of preaching to the choir here on this board.

From reading this thread............the new "paid" access is going to go great?>:(. I'm also curious why some think an early ADR gives them some guaranteed special access..........I only thought it got you into an early breakfast. o_O

Doug :goofy:

I know, right? I don't get it either.

When did say that I was guaranteed special access? I was just asking because we were still eating and saw the masses pouring into the parks when we thought we had 20 minutes before the attractions opened?

We've never, during out many rope drop visits to MK had the pleasure of them opening before 9. For our upcoming trip, we have a BOG res at 8:05a (on a non EMH). With our luck, they'll probably drop the rope at 8:40a that day.

It's not a matter of luck. Currently, the Welcome Show is scheduled at 8:40 every day -- it even shows up on Disney's calendar at 8:40 -- and rope drop is immediately after. So, unless something changes before your trip (or there's some kind of delay), rope drop will happen around 8:45. However, the "early" rope drop has been standard for some time, so most everyone who has done a pre-park BOG breakfast has done it on a day with an 8:45ish rope drop. Breakfast at BOG is typically pretty fast, especially if you pre-order.

Another site sates the extra hour starts at 745. So they get 745 to 845.
