For our Oct trip, I already have FP planned for our 2 full MK days, which includes headliners such as 7DMT, Enchanted Tales, A&E (well, will try anyways), Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan...

I need a suggestion for our arrival day, where we don't expect to get to the park until 4ish. It is a MNSSHP night, but that works well as we have a 7pm ADR anyways at Ohana.

So I'm thinking of trying to book FP for something like
  1. 4pm - ?
  2. 5pm - Peter Pan
  3. 6pm - Buzz Light (ending near the front gates so can leave for ADR after)

What would be a good first FP? I am looking at a calmer ride since it'll be our first time at Disney and our younger one is only 5. I was thinking Barnstormer, except that it looks like the opposite side of Fantasyland...so am thinking it should be in the vicinity of Peter Pan.

I think Barnstormer would be a good one for under 5. It can get a serious long line!!

Can you switch Peter Pan to 4:00? I would come up Main St., walk through the castle and see Fantasyland as the child's first peek into MK. Do Peter Pan and perhaps Small World and a ride on the Carousel and then walk to the Barnstormer end. After Barnstormer you can look through that area and then an easy walk to Buzz Lightyear and then out the door you go. :)

Thanks...this actually might work well. If I didn't have Peter Pan FP on another day, then I might not want to move it up earlier (in case any plane delays and we didn't make it), but since this would be a repeat, I am ok with that.

I should note that we have a boy and a girl, so would want to stick to rides that interest both for the first day (i.e. wouldn't make my son go to Little Mermaid)

Most of the rides are fun for boys and girls. My 8 year old son rides everything. The only things we don't do is meet the princesses but the Little Mermaid ride is good for boys and girls! How old is your son?

DS is 9 so just starting to turn away from girly things that wouldn't be cool

I think this is a great idea. :thumbsup2

OP, you'll have time to fill between Peter Pan and Barnstormer. The Carrousel almost never has a long line so it's a great choice. Check the wait time for Small World. Dumbo is also an option as they have a play area to keep kids busy while you wait, and it's air conditioned. Then between Barnstormer and Buzz you can walk the path along the train tracks that comes out near Space Mountain, then hit Tomorrowland Transit. It never has a long line. Laugh Floor is also a good option in that area. :goodvibes

Thank you for the suggestions...Small World and Dumbo would also be options around our FP (I assume FP is not worthwhile for these?) I also have Monsters Inc to be visited before or after Buzz.
Am hoping the fact that it'll be MNSSHP night (and a Sunday) that lines will be a bit shorter? Or on the other side, could have local crowd staying until 7pm before getting ready to head back to work week next day.

Normally crowds aren't too bad on MNSSHP days, but this will be the first year with full FP+ so I'm not sure if that will affect anything or not. Pre-FP+ Small World never had a long line at that time of year, but I don't know what it will be like this year. Just take a look when you're at Peter Pan or use a wait time app. If it's too long, move on without mentioning it and nobody will be any the wiser -- you will look like an expert lol.

Dumbo does still get a standby line, but now that there are two Dumbos it isn't anything like it used to be. I don't think it's worth a FP+ especially since the queue is air conditioned and has a playground for the kids (and seats for the parents). Those things make a 15 minute wait more than tolerable. You can also meet Donald and Goofy, Minnie and Daisy in the tent across from the Barnstormer. Last fall the lines were really short for them pre-MNSSHP in late September. I think we waited 5 minutes for the guys and 10 minutes for the gals at around 5:00ish.

Monsters Inc will be easy. You'll only wait for the next show to start. :thumbsup2

Very helpful. Thanks so much. :goodvibes

You're welcome! I used to have everything down to a science and could quite confidently make touring plans and estimate wait times...and then FP+ came along LOL. I almost feel like I'm starting all over again. Now I need a few years to figure things out. :rotfl:

I would give up Peter Pan and do Under the Sea and Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates is always our first ride at MK!

I say Enchanted Tales with Belle or even Priority seating for the parade. We are doing that this time and are looking forward to it.

I agree that Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid or Barnstormer are all great options. They are some of the most busy attractions in Fantasyland and in the afternoon they will have built up quite a line.

Thank you all again for the replies. For the few hours on arrival, gonna skip Little Mermaid and Enchanted Tales so both my son and daughter can enjoy (but do have them planned for one of our full MK days)

But definitely moving Peter Pan earlier and trying for FP for Barnstormer, or even Winnie the Pooh works. Thanks for the suggestions.
