I went to DL yesterday, as usual. Met a few families visiting from Australia, all of them terribly jet-lagged from the 17-hour time difference. For all of them it was their first visit.

Didn’t do PP because of the long line and Mr. Toad was closed. So I did Dumbo and then moved over to M&MRR. Went on to Buzz and immediately after my first ride I ran into the nice family that I met last week. Some of you may recall that they were local and were all good at Buzz. The two kids (11 and 12) often break 1M and did while I was there yestrday. We rode together about three times. At one point the boy broke 1M but his score didn’t come through so I let him have mine, which was 1.2M – slightly better than his, so that was a bonus :-). Then after my last round I scored 2,065,000 and let the girl have it (it was her birthday last week). That seemed to make her day and it always makes me happy to help out others.

We talked for about 20 minutes after our final rides. The mom and dad are both from Chicago, which was a nice surprise. Some of you may know/recall that I’m also a Chicago native (I’ve been out here for ten years now). They come most Sundays so I’m likely to see them again. Very nice people. Together, we held the top three scores: the girl (OGB) was first, I was second and the boy (CJB) was third. Nice way to start the day.

Two friends got their magic bands early: right around 8:00. I checked around noon and was told that they were “sold out resort-wide.” (ETA: for the day. They’re restocked daily). He meant for However, a friend was there in the evening and was able to get a pair at Pin Traders in DTD. So: just because a CM tells you that they’re sold out, it doesn’t mean, necessarily, that they are. I may try to get one next Sunday, although I was told that they’re not sure if they’ll still have them. Not a big deal. Had it been, I would have got them right after the park opened.

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love all of the decorations that are up now.

Recently I’ve talked about overpriced and bland DL postcards. Someone asked me to post pics of the new ones (that I don’t like). The Darth Vader one below is a postcard-sized rendering of the $45 print that they offer at The Disney Gallery. It’s $7. For a postcard. Just one. Only. Others that are still rather bland are $5. I still prefer the cards with images of the park such as the castle... and that only cost $2. That way recipients know exactly what they’re getting and where it’s come from.

As always, I have park maps for anyone who’d like a set. Simply DM me with your address and I’ll get a pair in the mail for you.

Well, although Halloween is NOT my fave (Christmas is-maybe because I don’t like the color orange), I do enjoy seeing your photos of the park and the treats, which look so interesting and are decorated beautifully I don’t eat them but I love to look at them!

And I would not pay $7 for that postcard…I prefer mine from the little souvenir shop where I can find a Tinkerbell one!

And once again, WK, thank you for being so sweet and kind to others, I’m sure it made those kids day to have you share your scores! Like I keep saying, maybe I’ll be there one day on a Sunday and you’ll do the same for me…lhahahahaha no one would ever believe I got that kind of score...but it is fun to try!

Love the photos. That poison apple looks so delicious! Since I am allergic to apples they are all poison to me, but if I could eat one I would totally choose one of those.
‘Can’t wait to be there in 2 weeks!

Your subject line says "Magic Band freebie" and then you said that the MBs were sold out. Was this some special limited-edition MB, and were they free for AP holders or something like that?

Thanks for asking this ... I was wondering on similar lines! :)

I asked about the postcards, that is pretty disappointing. Thanks for the update!!

I had totally forgotten that Disneyland has magic bands now. Anyone know if I’m missing out on anything if I skip getting one and just using my phone like I have in prior years?

They were giving away the Magic Key branded MB+ for free to Magic Key holders with a purchase.

Essentially, they had a massive overstock of them, and decided to get rid of them as quickly as possible. (I think it was widely considered to be not a particularly attractive design. It was discounted on day 1, and was one of the first Disneyland-branded MB+s to show up on ShopDisney, also at a discounted price: $30.)

Sorry: I should have been more clear. They were sold out (or gone) for the day. They get supplies restocked daily.

I'm not holding my breath, but I'm quietly hoping that they'll still have some supply when I'm there in a couple of weeks. (I wasn't planning on buying one, but I'd take a "free" one in a heartbeat.)

By "they" do you mean the special design for Magic Key holders that Brightlined mentioned? Or some other subset of MBs?

We are actually going to be in the park this Sunday but it's because we are doing MouseAdventure so I think the chances of seeing you are slim!

I buy those expensive postcards if they are a piece I love from my favorite artist... but I use them as smaller depictions of the larger pieces that I can't afford. Agreed I would never actually MAIL one.

I was there on Sunday too. I had one of my better scores for Buzz at 991K. I was on the leaderboard early, but doubt I was there very long.

I was able to get the magic band freebie. I think I got mine at the Tomorrowland Landing shop about 8:30 or so. I was only able to get mine since I was solo. I checked back later and they were sold out. But when I was in DCA about noon, they had "found" more at Elias. So I bought my mom hers. There were people buying what they could for the number they had in the group and then looping back to buy more again. So I guess I sort of did the same, but I got 2 for the 2 of us and not multiples of 5 to resell.

That postcard is neat, but I would never mail a $7 postcard. That is the type I would get if I wanted to frame it and hang on my wall. Then it would feel like a deal!

I can’t believe they are allowing more than one per person. I just got two, one for me and one for my younger son who was with me. I didn’t get one for my older son who is at school. Kicking myself because I’m sure they will sell out before he’s able to return with me.

Can you run over one morning and grab one more, even if he's in school?

I'm a little surprised/disappointed that they weren't treating these like magnets and limiting it to one per pass. But that might mean there was a way larger supply than anyone realized.

(I'm surprised anyone's trying to resell these - I mean, they're only $30 on ShopDisney, and some folks are asking for a lot more than that on eBay.)
