MK in December

We're planning our annual WDW trip for next month, and I was checking the WDW website about operating hours for the parks. I noticed that MK is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 6 but has shorter hours during the rest of the week. I was wondering if anyone knows why the park is open so late on this particular date. Since it is open so late, we were thinking about going there on that Monday. But, if there is some kind of special event going on, I don't want to get in the middle of a big crowd. I don't see any events listed on the website other than Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party which doesn't go on that night (and wouldn't have anything to do with the park being open this late anyway since it is a separately ticketed event.) So, does anyone have a clue about these MK hours?

Also, has anyone been to the MK Halloween party event? Is it hugely crowded or more doable like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party since it's a separately ticketed event?

There have been many many threads on the halloween crowds--most said the crowds were large but manageable. Doesn't really matter that it is a seperate ticketed event--it's the reason for going to WDW at that time, so that's where the majority go.
If you've checked all the websites about December 6 and can't understand the 9pm closing, then call down directly and ask. Could be MK is extending hours on Mondays to accommodate families who want to take long weekends....
