If its a quick exit we want we try to stand right at the railings in front of the flag pole at the start of main street. Beautiful view from there and a nice quick way out.

Don't know when the OP is going....... but keep in mind that starting in early November, garlands will be strung along Main Street between the buildings. So any spot in that area gets obscured when looking up toward the fireworks.

We always stand at the flagpole near the train station for a quick get away.
It's a great view.
Though, you have to understand, quick is a relative term. It's still a madhouse to get out, just not as bad as up by the castle.
