MK filled to capacity today!

My brother is at WDW now and he just called me from MK. The park is closed to anyone not staying on property. Pretty corwded! But, of course, they are having a blast!!!

Is there a site that posts the daily attendance for Walt Disney World theme parks?

This scares me.....I've never been when it's quite that crowded and we are planning to arrive on Thursday evening for a quick weekend getaway. Yikes!!

We're also leaving on Thursday and want to do the MK. If we arrive first thing in the morning and don't leave.........will they let us in even if they are approaching capacity and we aren't staying at a hotel?

Wow. I figured next week would be a busy one, but I guess the week before and after Easter are pretty crowded. Don't worry. Everyone headed down there will still have a wonderful time!

No. Disney doesn't release attendance numbers.

You came for a quick weekend getaway at Easter? You are a braver one than I! Easter is second only to Christmas as far as crowds go. Be prepared.

The park closes in stages. There are four levels of closing:

Phase One: Day Guests who have not already purchased tickets will be turned around at the Auto Plaza and told that the park has reached capacity.

Phase Two: Admission is limited to Resort Guests, Premium and Annual Passholders, crossovers and other Guests re-entering one of the Parks today. Guests using WDW Resort Transportation and Guests in taxis will be admitted.

Phase Three: The theme park is only open to Resort Guests using Disney transportation from their Resort or other theme parks or Annual and Premium Passholders. Shades of Green and Downtown Disney Resort Area Guests using their respective transportation will also be admitted.

Phase Four: Closed to all new Guests.

The parks very seldom reach Phase Four, but it happens.

Well, I work for an airline so we can come just about any time. But my annual passes are burning a whole in my pocket and we aren't scheduled to come again until October.

Friends were just there yesterday and the day before and they said "it wasn't too bad". Yes it was crowded but nothing terrible. They used fast pass for some rides and waited for others and had a fabulous time. They were prepared for HUGE crowds and were pleasantly surprised it wasn't as bad as they expected.

Just shows that you need to plan for this time of year-- make alternative plans. I know a lot of people recently were asking about the parks and possible closures. I couldn't believe the number of people who kept saying it won't happen to these poor "newbies".

Whew! Glad we stuck with our plan to go to Blizzard Beach! We were afraid it might be too cold with the high winds they had yesterday - but after checking out the temp here this morning decided to risk it. We'ed toyed with the idea of going to the parks - but since we got a late start I really didn't want to do that! It was a beautiful day at BB! There seemed to be a lot of people on the beaches in chairs - but the lines for the slides weren't bad at all, nor for lunch. Can't wait to go do ALL the parks the right way in June!!

This happened when we were there last year. SO Plan - Go to MK in the morning then leave and do one of the other parks for the afternoon or take a swim. The crowd usually starts to thin after dinner.
We are going Good Friday for the day - then cruising. I hope we get in. I want to see Philharmagic and Wishes. But we'll go to Epcot first and after dinner keep our fingers crossed taht the crowd has diminished.

WOW! AK was closed?!?!? I thought that would be the last park to close! Because of these boards, it seems like it's the least favorite of all the parks! But then again, it was an EMH day at AK today.

It's one of the most popular times of the year for WDW...Spring Break! Sea World was just as bad on Saturday and Sunday.

Can anyone verify that MK did, in fact, reopen later in the day? We're going to be there Friday and the plan was to hit MK at opening... but as I discovered when I was there for Christmas 2002, I like heading over REALLY early, and then leaving as the masses arrive - it is like a fish swimming upstream, trying to get back down Main Street at 11 am! I would like to do that, and then take a break at the hotel, and head back in later in the day.
