Dh and I just returned from our 12/13/06 - 12/16/06 trip.

12/13 - Before getting to WDW - we stopped and saw ICE!@Gaylord Palms. It was great!! They keep it at 9 degrees and give you special parkas to wear. The live sized ice carvings were unbelievable - they had too many things to list but 2 examples are the full nativity scene and also horse drawn buggy that you could sit in - completely made of ice. They gave out free coupons for hot chocolate when you were finished. My cheeks and hands felt like they were getting frost bitten!! After ICE we checked into POP which was actually just a few miles away. That evening shopped at DTD and then drove to Poly and rode monorail getting off at monorail hotels to check out the Christmas decorations in each lobby.

12/14 - Epcot all day. That night we did the Candlelight Processional, Dinner Package/Coral Reef. It rained real hard during our processional - good thing we had reserved seats with the dinner package, we sat in the 2nd row and it was covered. Maureen McGovern was the host. (Kirk Cameron was the host the next night and the next morning we saw him and his family walking in MK!) Coral Reef was very good - I had the coconut slushy, crab claws with spicy slaw, blackened catfish with cheesy grits and chocolate wave - all excellent! :thumbsup2

12/15 - MK during day. While walking down Main Street we were asked by 2 official CMs if we wanted to be in the Family Fun Day Parade. (I think our matching tropical Mickey shirts got their attention.) They said we would make good grand marshalls and told us to come back to the spot later and they would give us instructions. When we went back, we talked some more and when the fire truck pulled up they said our ride was there. :teeth: They introduced us to all the characters that got off of the truck (who each kissed us or hugged us or shook our hands) and then we got on. They gave us flags to wave and told us to smile - no problem there cause I couldn't stop cracking up the whole time!! There was a band, characters, and marchers (including other guests they had rounded up) walking behind us waving flags and dancing. One of their photographers walked along and took a bunch of photos of us - it is all on a PhotoPass. We went down Main Street, made a complete circle around the flag pole and they told us to stay in the truck while the band and marchers put on a little show all around the flag pole. Unbelievable! :lmao:

After the parade we left MK and went to MGM to see the Osborne Festival of Dancing lights. The lights were amazing (first time we saw them on the New York street as they used to be on the residential street).

12/16 - DTD for awhile and also stopped at POFQ for some shopping before the drive home.

How cool that you were parade marshalls! :firefight Thanks for the report. :)

Great report! How exciting to be the Grand Marshalls at the parade! :)

Hopefully it will not rain when we go to the CP...are all the reserved seats under cover?

I think it depends on how many packages they sell for a particular show. We heard a CM say that there were only 200-something packages sold for our show, so all the stand-bys would get in. So, for our show, yes, all the reserved seats were covered. But, if they sell more packages for a show you might not be covered. We sat in row 2, center right (that is, looking at the stage - big drums were to the left of the stage) and our seat were perfect. I had read it was not good to be that close but we loved our seats. (Again, left of the stage were the drums so that wouldn't be good.) We went to the 5:00 show and got there around 3:45 and the line was already started. We walked around the American shops, went the restroom and got in line around 4:00 and got our seats. I would definitely sit there again. It was not too loud, I liked seeing the faces of all the performers and the conductor was basically right next to us!

How cool is this...I've got you on my home video!!! We were at MK the same day...so you must be the grand marshalls I have on video! You did a wonderful job...you both looked like pros!

We had a great trip...sounds like you did too. The 3 hour drive up from Naples always seems much shorter than the ride home.

Merry Christmas!

OMG! Really!?! We were in the 4:00 parade that day - is that the parade you saw? I know there was also one earlier in the day. We had on matching striped/floral/Hawaiian/Mickey shirts. I have short brown hair and dh has white hair. Let me know if it is us - that would be too funny!!!! :Pinkbounc
