Dh and I just returned from our 12/13/06 - 12/16/06 trip.
12/13 - Before getting to WDW - we stopped and saw ICE!@Gaylord Palms. It was great!! They keep it at 9 degrees and give you special parkas to wear. The live sized ice carvings were unbelievable - they had too many things to list but 2 examples are the full nativity scene and also horse drawn buggy that you could sit in - completely made of ice. They gave out free coupons for hot chocolate when you were finished. My cheeks and hands felt like they were getting frost bitten!! After ICE we checked into POP which was actually just a few miles away. That evening shopped at DTD and then drove to Poly and rode monorail getting off at monorail hotels to check out the Christmas decorations in each lobby.
12/14 - Epcot all day. That night we did the Candlelight Processional, Dinner Package/Coral Reef. It rained real hard during our processional - good thing we had reserved seats with the dinner package, we sat in the 2nd row and it was covered. Maureen McGovern was the host. (Kirk Cameron was the host the next night and the next morning we saw him and his family walking in MK!) Coral Reef was very good - I had the coconut slushy, crab claws with spicy slaw, blackened catfish with cheesy grits and chocolate wave - all excellent!
12/15 - MK during day. While walking down Main Street we were asked by 2 official CMs if we wanted to be in the Family Fun Day Parade. (I think our matching tropical Mickey shirts got their attention.) They said we would make good grand marshalls and told us to come back to the spot later and they would give us instructions. When we went back, we talked some more and when the fire truck pulled up they said our ride was there.
They introduced us to all the characters that got off of the truck (who each kissed us or hugged us or shook our hands) and then we got on. They gave us flags to wave and told us to smile - no problem there cause I couldn't stop cracking up the whole time!! There was a band, characters, and marchers (including other guests they had rounded up) walking behind us waving flags and dancing. One of their photographers walked along and took a bunch of photos of us - it is all on a PhotoPass. We went down Main Street, made a complete circle around the flag pole and they told us to stay in the truck while the band and marchers put on a little show all around the flag pole. Unbelievable!
After the parade we left MK and went to MGM to see the Osborne Festival of Dancing lights. The lights were amazing (first time we saw them on the New York street as they used to be on the residential street).
12/16 - DTD for awhile and also stopped at POFQ for some shopping before the drive home.
