MK during Thanksgiving week.....HELP PLEASE....need suggestions

Well, it seems like you've answered your own question. If it doesn't really matter to you, then just pick a schedule and run with it. There really is no "right" answer...or "wrong" one. Everyone has their own opinions, but those crowd calendar things are simply WAGs and may or may not have any accuracy. So don't worry about if park A will have a few more people than park B, just schedule whatever you want.

we always do MK on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we've been there multiple times. That is usually a late night EMH and has consistently been the day that we've gotten the most done, from the fireworks time - on. But if you want to watch Fireworks, you'll miss some ride time of course.

Basically everything becomes a walk-on to 15 minute waits except for a couple of the big rides. But even those get fine as the night goes on. This year, it was open until 2 am, and from midnight to 2, it was fantastic.

But, it seems like it's always cold that evening, so bring hats, gloves, scarves, even thermal underwear if you can. It's fantastic!

Again, thanks so much to all who took the time to answer. Right now I'm thinking MK on Wednesday as so many have suggested. AK maybe TG Day. This plan could change a dozen times before we go. I'll also wait to see when Disney has EMH at MK, we'll avoid it that day for sure.

We did AK on Thx giving day 2016 & had a great time. It really didn't feel too crowded. The Christmas tree at the entrance is just spectacular.

Good to know, thank you.

With free dining rumored to be available for check ins up to 11/20, expect bigger crowds again this year.

IF the rumor is true free dining will be eligible for guests checking in up to 11/20 and lasting through their stay. . Disney had FD check in closer to Thanksgiving last year too and all bloggers said it added significant numbers to the Thanksgiving crowds and made the restaurants much more crowded.

According to TP's historical crowd levels for 2016, Thanksgiving Day at MK was less crowded (based on average wait times) than any other weekday that week.

Yep! we were at MK Thanksgiving day last year (2016) and it wasn't bad at all. We were really shocked! I guess everyone took the advice of "avoid MK on TG day." We had a great week and never found it too bad. Others went that same week, but different parks on different days and were miserable. I guess we got lucky! I know several people on the boards that did MK on days leading up to TG day and it was horribly crowded. You just never know!

I wonder if Disneys pricing structure for one day tickets is starting to lower crowds a bit on holidays as well. :confused3

I'm so torn between going to MK on Wednesday, the before TG day, or actually going on TG.
I've gone back and forth on this a half dozen times already. Grrr
Right now I have a paper in front of me with us going to MK on Wednesday, now I think I should change it back to TG day. :scared:

I was struggling with the same question, so I said oh heck let's just go to Epcot! :D

Crowds are all relative, but I think you'll be better off at MK on Thanksgiving Day, and going as early as you can get yourself up.

Yes, actually Kenny the Pirate just came out with the November hours and he recommends MK on Thanksgiving. I was all set to do MK on Wednesday, the day before TG, but now thinking I'll do MK on Thanksgiving. :upsidedow
But honestly I just don't understand how MK could be the preferred park on TG day.

Me either!! I've been going back and forth for awhile now. I just assumed it would be the worst day to go to MK.

We've spent TG day at Epcot and the crowds were very tolerable. The holiday storytelling not starting until the next day probably keeps a lot of people away until Friday. As always, it got more crowded in the later afternoon/evening as people came in for their evening WS meals (since lots of countries' menus also include classes TG meal options). Will probably do that again this year.

Would they have free dining during Thanksgiving week? :crazy2:

Yes we got it last year by checking in on the 19th. It was the only discount available for that week so that's why we had it. Just be conscious of making your reservations early.

Also I think DHS will be the best park on Thanksgiving. AK will have lots of new stuff that will draw people, so past experience will be irrelevant.

You're correct, I hadn't taken that into consideration. Unfortunately, I told my 3 grandsons they could pick the 2 parks we will visit and they choose MK and AK. :headache:
