MK Closing VERY early week before Thanksgiving??!!??

Hi all!
We are going to DW week before thanksgiving and just noticed that on touring plans MK closes early everyday that week! I understand the 7pm closing is for MVMCP but another night closes at 4:30??!!!???thr other two nights MK CLOSES AT 8???
We are freakimg out as they changed the times from 12pm closures on that weds and thurs nights which is also why we are staying at WL for those 3 nights. Thanks !

This has had some discussion on this board earlier this week.

If that time is accurate and not an error,
it is thought that MK is closing for a private event of some kind.

It could be a Disney press event, or it could be a corporation or wealthy individual
who is having a private party.

In the past, certain fireworks manufacturers have held a private party (and shot a special fireworks show) at MK.

The 4.30pm closing is for the cast celebration, which has been moved from DHS to MK this year (I assume no room at DHS right now.) I think that's the 17th. So that one is definitely accurate. The MVMCP time won't change either, but maybe the 8pm closings will change later?

I would guess that it might have something to due the IAAPA that is taking place from November 14-20. I know in the past they have held events at WDW. It might even just be a specific group that is in for the convention that bought out time at MK.

The October hours were just updated with some later closings as of Mid-April, so definitely consider this link to be a "first draft" with updated fireworks schedules and hopefully later hours posted later.

That's our week as well. My son was really looking forward to some very late nights in MK, so I'm hoping the calendar gets some (positive) updates over the next few weeks.

After years…(well over a decade) of checking these things nearly every day, and taking notes (you should see my note files,)
nothing surprises me about Disney's "early-posted hours" vs. "actual final hours."

They have their own set of reasons for how they first-post hours and I've not been able to decode it.

Oh no, we just booked this AM for the 13th thru 22nd! I hadn't even checked closing times yet. I sure hope these time are not set in stone!
Does anyone think the decreased times are reflective of DAH or other events? I'm disappointed!

Probably because right now, two weeks before the official park hours calendar is released, projected attendance only indicates a need to stay open until 8.

No one can make any guarantees, but I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if DAH is continued in the same time frame as parties are going on and park hours almost always change at least once between initial posting and the actual dates. I'd keep optimistic that the hours will follow patterns of prior years where non party dates have hours of 10-11 pm or later.

I agree - as anyone who pays attention knows, hours at MK are usually pushed back after the initial posting. They seem to start with an earliest possible time, and assume they will need to push back.

But to me it makes perfect sense for the week before Thanksgiving to start with a base a few hours earlier than that of the week of Thanksgiving - so when they are pushed you will end up with 9:00 or maybe 10:00 vs. 11:00 and 12:00 and maybe 1:00.

I can't figure out what your point is. That the week before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving don't have different crowd levels? If so, I disagree.

I have been at the MK many times when it closes at 9 or 10 on a non-party night.
