MK Closing at 6 pm Sept 28, 2017

Does anyone know why Magic Kingdom might be closing at 6 pm on September 28, 2017? I'm trying to plan my days to book dining soon and just noticed this. I know days with the Halloween party it closes at 7, but why would it close at 6 pm this day? Thanks for any help!

MK closes early that day for the the annual Cast Member service anniversary party.

This past November, MK closed at 4:30 for a CM party (having to do with years of service, iirc). It was AMAZING! The best day ever! Now, 4:30 is a lot earlier than 6, so I can't promise similar crowds, but I imagine it will absolutely slower than a normal day.

For a while now, it has been showing 6pm with no fireworks. Now showing fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant. Shoot! I was hoping for an earlier closing, hoping for lower crowds.

Set 28 is a little early for the appreciation night. usually its more like a holiday party and in nov.

As previously posted, the WDW Parks and Resorts Service Celebrations will take place in Nov., specifically Nov. 30th.

A little off topic. Because the vast majority of cast is not invited, it's not a cast appreciation party, it's recognition for 10, 15, 20 etc, years of service with Disney. Only those CMs celebrating those anniversaries are able to attend.

It's too far off for me to look up, but because of the crowd levels at that time of the year, it's certainly a possibility.

Sometimes park buyouts occur year after year around the same time, so I looked up last year and sure enough, I found a 5pm closing a week later in 2016. False alarm, that was because of hurricane Matthew, so no clue at this time.

Microsoft Ignite is in Orlando this year (September 25-29). Every year the closing attendee celebration is on a Thursday (September 28th). I've heard this year it will be held at a theme park. If that is correct, my guess would be MK hence the 6pm closing. This is just speculation on part but I wouldn't be surprised.

That makes more sense. Ok I feel a little better that it is not just an error in timing.

As of today 4/11 the Disney website now states an 8 PM closing.
