By chance, does anyone know why Miyuki stopped performing at Epcot?
We really miss her show!

Can you elaborate on that please? Do you mean Disney wanted those candy works of art sold instead of given away? She wasn’t allowed to continue to give away the candy creations. Rather than continue or move to a different role, she decided to retire. Her DD is an entertainment CM in the parks.
It was reported that because of health regulations she couldn’t give away the candy and it was thrown out after each session. It also was reported because Guests complained if they didn’t receive a candy confection that the easiest thing to do was have her throw everything away.
Either way, rather than continue, she retired.
Disney would no longer allow her to give away the candy. She had to toss them after every session. It was either due to health regulations or because guests complained because they didn’t receive a creation. I’m pretty sure one of those reasons is correct. What? That report is a crock! We have seen her many, many times over the years & never saw 1 creation go unwanted. "Items she couldn't give away"... that didn't happen! It was an honor to be given this little work of art. I'm sure this was big talk at the time she ended her relationship with Disney, so sorry I am showing up late to the discussion. For anyone that complained that they didn't get the beautiful candy, too bad! Do they run to guest services & complain because I saw a rainbow that they didn't? This is obviously spin city, but what a loss for everyone.
She is! My CM friend is good friends with her daughter and Miyuki is happy and enjoying life.I hope she is happy & healthy!
Why do health code regulations make your heart hurt? Thanks hiroMYhero, I appreciate you filling me in about Miyuki. I can still hear her voice in my head & envision watching her show holding a kiddo on my hip! Disney's explanation makes my heart hurt. I hope she is happy & healthy!

Because I don't believe this is the reason she is no longer there & believe it is Disney's way of explaining it away. If you ever attended her show, you would know that every single creation she made found it's way into the hands of someone watching-there was no "throwing away". It makes me sad to think they wanted to put a price tag on it OR WORSE that pushy, entitled parents pitched a fit because their child was not given the candy. Why do health code regulations make your heart hurt?
I just came across some pictures of my dd's over the years with her! It was a highlight for them to watch her; often more than once per trip, chosen for a candy or not. But yes watching her year after year we did see an increase in the "my kid has been here longer, or "you can't make one for one of my kids without making one for all of them" statements. Sometimes these guests turned a great presentation into an uncomfortable situation unfortunately.
Prior to her making them just for display (which IIRC she did for a while before she stopped?) she would encourage the kids to eat the candy "yummy candy" and not just display it so I can understand how she may see that as odd.
Our family misses her and she comes up in conversation during every trip through WS Japan; we are happy to have the memories and pictures of her and her gorgeous candy art and glad to hear she is well![]()

Ditto here, we have the memories & I'm glad to hear she is well!
You know that’s not what that poster meant.
I would think anyone could see that it is sad that someone who has devoted their life to an art form felt compelled to give it up because their creations were being thrown away instead of enjoyed. I imagine it would be heartbreaking for a painter or writer to know that their works were going directly into the trash.
You're not understanding the situation correctly. Disney wasn't saying that no one wanted them or that they should be sold. The issue is that the health department cracked down on them because giving the candy away violated health codes because it wasn't being produced according to health department rules. She was told that she would have to abide by the health department rules and she decided that she would rather retire (which I totally understand.)Because I don't believe this is the reason she is no longer there & believe it is Disney's way of explaining it away. The last couple times we saw her she could pick people from the crowd to suggest an animal but she could not give the candy away. Each candy made was displayed in the front of the cart and taken with her at the end of the show.
