Mixology? Yes or no?

Thanks TB! Making a dirty martini is even better!! I was worried about a possible gin martini, which is not really my jam. Haha

But it sounds like a lot of booze so maybe ok to skip some :)

What kinds of drinks were that price? (hoping its not my favorite go to drink :teeth:
Brace yourself if you are going on the Wish. Pretty much any of the menu cocktails in any bar is $16+ now before Gratuity. You can try to order regular drinks and they'll usually make you something off menu if you ask for a more basic drink. (G&T, Vodka Soda, Bahama Mama, etc. Thankfully those were closer to the regular prices.) Edit: We sailed Nov 2022

I loved the Wish but felt like it was more expensive than any of the other ships, and I'm just talking about onboard spending. Not the cost to get on which was even more hard to stomach.

I am a big fan of the happy hours on the original 4 ships because they offer some of the best deals (30-50% off at times, some drinks specific dollar amounts off, it depends on the bar.) That was a lifesaver on our Europe cruise this past August.

It does vary a bit. Last time I did the martini tasting, it was gin martini, dirty vodka martini, appletini and expresso martini. I think it is up to the bartender what they want to feature.

Yes it very well could have just been the Wish as that’s what we sailed when I got my drink sticker shock. We go on the fantasy in two months so I guess we will see! Wouldn’t surprise me if they just jacked up the prices for the Wish because it is the shiny new ship, but also wouldn’t surprise me if prices went up on all ships thanks to inflation.

This was right after the Chapek Price hikes. He got that one last "knife in our side" before he left. 😅

We've been on everything but the Wonder. Dream, Fantasy, Magic Two drinks plus tip is usually about 30 if you aren't ordering during happy hour. On the Wish it was 50 for the same two drinks and tip. We noticed at the end of the 4 night that we had about 100 bucks more than we would usually spend on a short cruise like that.

It adds up and the Mouse knows it. Gotta get every dollar out of the new Shiny ship and I can't blame them for that. We'll probably sail the other 4 till the Treasure comes out. Not because we didn't love the wish, I just didn't feel it was necessary for us and we like minimum 5 day sailings.

The other thing that was rough was most the drinks were SO SWEET. Not everyone likes a cup full of sugar.

I loved mixology even if the price did go up. It gave me the chance to try 5 different cocktails I would have never known existed and they were all delicious and verry strong. The bartender even procured one ingredient from the kitchen and told us none of the bars normally have access to it so don't go around asking for it, shhh. That extra bit of uniqueness was unexpected but I appreciated getting something out of the class that I wouldn't be able to get otherwise.

When you did the class, were the glasses "Full Size" (12-16 oz) or were they the smaller ones? (6-8 oz)

I have heard mixed reports. If it was 5 of the full sized drinks then that 40 is still a great price.

The last time we did the class before the price change, we had an Earl Grey Lemon Martini in Keys that was out of this world. Easily my favorite drink.

They were the smaller martini glasses so more like 3 oz. I was still smashed by the end 😆
I would easily expect to pay $20 or more for a full size of any of the drinks we got, but I didn't ask pricing.
