I'm gonna lose mucho "guy points" with this next confession:
I yack when I get too close to baseball movies. There, I said it. Except possibly "Bull Durham" - because it had Susan Sarandon in stockings and garters. Was there any baseball in that movie?
Now, war movies! Oh yeah. And if they're subtitled, that's even awesomer! One of the best war movies I've recently seen was "Downfall" - a German film (with English subtitles) about Hitler's last days told from the viewpoint of one of his secretaries. My kids always dread the day that I choose to watch "
Das Boot" in its entirety - 5 1/2 hours of submarine fun!
Mucho "guy points" loss confession #2:
I am probably one of the very few straight guys who can really get into a musical. We have "Les Mis", "Chicago", "Little Shop of Horrors", "South Pacific", "Grease", "Fiddler on the Roof", "The Producers" - the only musical I really couldn't get into was "Cats". We have "Dreamgirls" but I haven't watched it yet.
My favorite classic movie is "To Kill a Mockingbird". KAMommy likes "Gone With the Wind", but I don't hold that against her.
Bad 70s movie question:
Does anybody remember a movie called "Bugsy Malone"? It was a mid-70s movie starring Scott Baio & Jodie Foster when they were kids (I think it was made about the time of Jodie's "Freaky Friday"). "Bugsy" was a gangster movie, but all the cars were pedal-powered and the burp guns shot creme pies instead of bullets. I see it's listed on imdb.com but don't know if it's ever been released on video or DVD.
