Email it to me asap. You might be interested to know that Eren very much wants to see this list. She will be participating in the movie watching. I told her creepster just needs a few more days to finish it.
For some reason, that seemed to motivate me just a bit more PJ. List is complete and in your HotMail inbox. :thumbsup2

ETA: If anyone else would like to see the list of 41 mostly non-violent movies, made in 1990 or before, that I sent to PJ for her movie education, I would be glad to forward it to your email inbox also -- just ask here on this thread or PM me.

Hmmm, reminds me of the Ugly Naked Guy episode of friends.

GoDaddy, last time we were in the Knoxville area we ate at a restaurant that was right off of the Strawberry Plains exit. Don't know the name, but it was good and we asked if it was a chain, and they said they get asked that quite a bit, but the owner didn't want to go that route. I think it had all kinds of food...pizza, italian, american etc. Do you know what it is?

Sounds like it might be Puleo's Grille?

I'd like to see it, Rob. Are "Xanadu", "Corvette Summer", or "Ice Castles" on it, by any chance?

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Corvette Summer -- Mark Hamill's brilliant career move to capitalize on his success in Star Wars. :lmao:

Actually, I kind of liked Xanadu though I certainly don't consider it to be one of the greatest films of all times. Of course, part of that may be due to the fact that it had Olivia Newton-John in it and came out just as I was entering puberty.

PM me the email address that you give out to slightly crazy people (not the fake one that you give out to the truly crazy) and I'll gladly forward it to you.

Hey, I liked Xanadu. And Ice Castles. :confused3

Xanadu was fine if you judge it for what it was -- a musical -- and didn't expect great acting and a dramatic screenplay from it. I enjoy it also.

Ice Castles really didn't do anything for me personally but to each their own.

"Xanadu" was watchable.

I just included "Ice Castles" because it seemed EVERY SINGLE GIRL my age LOVED that movie. Me, being a guy, noticed there was A) no bared sweater-kittens, B) no really hot cars, and/or C) a definite absence of explosions. It just had the tragically-overacting Robby Benson and some tragic chick mysteriously (and tragically) blinded in some kind of ultra-tragic accident involving ice skates and Tonya Harding's bodyguard, which to a pre-teenage boy just doesn't cut it. Not MY demographic. So I moved on. And watched such classic 70s movie fare like "Smokey and the Bandit" and the aforementioned "Corvette Summer". I also really liked "Every Which Way But Loose" - featuring some chimp (forget his name) and an orangutan. No errant ice chips to tragically blind some blond chick in ANY of those movies, you can bet on that.

popcorn:: And then I have the gall to complain about ALL the really stupid movies out now that all the kids are watching.popcorn::

I would much rather watch "Smokey" and/or "Every Which Way But Loose" than "Ice Castles" or "Xanadu". any day. no contest.

I'm one of those weird girls who actually like to watch stuff like sports related movies. Do you know how many great baseball movies there are? "Eight Men Out", "Pride of the Yankees", "Field of Dreams", "Bull Durham", "A League of Their Own", "Major League" just off the top of my head. Don't even get me started on basketball movies. Or war movies, or action adventure, or westerns. BUT, I do like old musicals and classics. So, I guess I'm kind of girly too.;) Grew up on those. I could watch those anytime.

Alright, I digress. Have a good evening.

I'm gonna lose mucho "guy points" with this next confession:
I yack when I get too close to baseball movies. There, I said it. Except possibly "Bull Durham" - because it had Susan Sarandon in stockings and garters. Was there any baseball in that movie?

Now, war movies! Oh yeah. And if they're subtitled, that's even awesomer! One of the best war movies I've recently seen was "Downfall" - a German film (with English subtitles) about Hitler's last days told from the viewpoint of one of his secretaries. My kids always dread the day that I choose to watch "Das Boot" in its entirety - 5 1/2 hours of submarine fun!

Mucho "guy points" loss confession #2:
I am probably one of the very few straight guys who can really get into a musical. We have "Les Mis", "Chicago", "Little Shop of Horrors", "South Pacific", "Grease", "Fiddler on the Roof", "The Producers" - the only musical I really couldn't get into was "Cats". We have "Dreamgirls" but I haven't watched it yet.

My favorite classic movie is "To Kill a Mockingbird". KAMommy likes "Gone With the Wind", but I don't hold that against her.

Bad 70s movie question:
Does anybody remember a movie called "Bugsy Malone"? It was a mid-70s movie starring Scott Baio & Jodie Foster when they were kids (I think it was made about the time of Jodie's "Freaky Friday"). "Bugsy" was a gangster movie, but all the cars were pedal-powered and the burp guns shot creme pies instead of bullets. I see it's listed on imdb.com but don't know if it's ever been released on video or DVD.

Yes that's it! :thumbsup2

I love those movies, too. I'm eclectic. :thumbsup2

JJ, of course.

A straight guy that's into musicals, now that is pretty cool. :thumbsup2 Actually, I've gotten dh to secretly admit he likes some of them too. We even go to the Kentucky Center For the Arts and watch plays. His favs are "Phantom of the Opera", "Les Mis", and "Fiddler on the Roof". My favorite musical is "Singing In the Rain". I've known every word since I was ten.

"To Kill A Mockingbird"?!?! That's weird. One of my favs. When I saw Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, well that just sealed the deal. I actually prefer the book to the movie, but still a great pic.

I like "Gone With the Wind" too, but I HATED the fact that Scarlett was so in love with Ashley. barf. Give me the scoundrel anyday.

I remember the "Bugsy Malone" movie. I think Fox showed it as a Sunday afternoon movie several years back. it was horrible.

PEOPLE, do not get me started on movies or I will be here all night!

Cool! A music man! I was a musical theater major with a minor in dance. I played Velma Kelly in Chicago. Les Miz is one of my very favorite musicals (I've seen it 6 times). I choreographed Grease, worked backstage on Little Shop of Horrors.... somebody stop me. :lmao: I LOVE theater!

Literary LEGO Minifigs

Can we say "This guy has too much time on his hands"? How'd I find it? I just googled "Boo Radley" (Google Images) and the image of Boo & Scout as LEGO figures was one of the top returns. Weird. And I thought my LEGO habit was bad.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" (Or as it's called in New Jersey "To Kill a Mockingboid") was one of those perfect books. Absolutely perfect - doesn't need a word added or taken away. I could read it over and over - I know I'm on my second paperback copy and KAMommy's got a copy of her own from high school days. My daughter really reminds me of Scout. They have the same kind of spirit.

No, I don't like baseball movies. Don't much like baseball, although I'd never turn down Braves, Red Sox, or Cubbies tickets. Sorry. I'm a complete human being in all other aspects...

I love theater too, but I don't have any of that talent stuff. It amazes me that somebody could have the cojones to get up in front of complete strangers and act out some person completely different from how they are. I dated some 'drama queens' in high school musicals, so I was always that slightly artistic guy who'd be collared into building sets to be near them. One time I was dating a girl who played Chava in our high school production of "Fiddler" and our relationship was getting a bit too serious for me. So we'll just say "Matchmaker" hit a bit too close to home for my comfort.

MICHELE: You got the "Music Man" reference. An A for the day for you!

ITA about "To Kill A Mockingbird". I have loved that book since I was in middle school. I reread it all the time. My other favorite is "A Tale of Two Cities". I read as much I watch movies. Did you know I tried to name one of our horses Atticus, but the kids shot me down? His name was Scout instead. Some of the people even signed my high school yearbook, TO SCOUT, because I loved the book so much.

BTW, my dh is not a HUGE baseball fan. He's more into basketball (I love basketball too, and the Colts, but not football in general). If I need to talk baseball I have to call my dad or one my brothers. My brother even pitched in college, but then he met a girl....:sad2:

Whowouldathunk Boo Radley in Lego?:confused3

Crap! I told myself to be off DIS by 9:30! Now look what y'all made me do...

Goodnight.
