Mixed Nuts Part 2

Go often to the house of thy friend, for weeds choke the unused path.

Rob, what does this mean?:confused3

hello Rob!!

How was the first week of school for your kids??
It was ok I guess. Only two days last week -- a full five this week. DS12 and DS6 who don't care for school are not happy about being back. DS14 and DS9 who like school are kind of glad to be back. I did hear DS12 bragging about his new school's expanded lunch options to his younger brothers since he is now in Middle School (grade 6).

The school days are starting earlier this year so the two older boys leave the house by 6:35 a.m. and the two younger boys leave at 8:00 a.m. This, in theory, will allow me to be at work by 9:00 now (unless traffic is terribly bad).

Heidi!! Are you excited?
What is your countdown at now??

It's a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that is kind of along the lines of "No weeds grow along the path between the homes of two friends." To me, it means you should be sure to visit with your friends (whether in person or over the phone or whatever) from time to time or "weeds" will grow up between you and them that will make it more difficult for you to find the path again. Other folks might interpret it differently.

Always important!!

That is about what our times are. If Dh drives, they leave at 8:30, if my neighbor drives, they leave at 7:45 because she is a teacher and has to be there earlier. So, we'll see how it goes. School starts at 9:15.

Oh, very nice, very true.
I was thinking it meant that you went to your friend's house, smoked pot then walked over the marijuana plants on your way out. lol

Yes, I just hope he chooses some of the more healthy options more often than the more unhealthy ones. Actually, with DS12, he probably will. He tends to make pretty good food choices (well, if you count eating meat as a good food choice which I know some here do not :rolleyes1 ).

I saw that!
never too much time in Miami!
BTW, surprising your KC team lost to the Dolphins!
I'm disappointed in my Patriots right now!

Not that surprising. I'm predicting a 5-11 (maybe even a 4-12) season. It is not going to be pretty.

That's the spirit Rob!!
Maybe you need this

Just being a realist. It is definitely a rebuilding year for us. I do think we will have a vastly improved defense this year that I am very excited about. If they can keep our opponents down to 12 points or so, we might be able to win some games.

I need to finish packing. Maybe I'll be back later.
BTW, where is everyone tonight?

Still might be too early for Blue, either that or she is busy packing. And it looks like I scared P&J off when I came in. :sad1:

Lisa -- well, she's a flighty blonde so you just never know with her. :rotfl2: j/k Lisa! :cloud9:

I almost forgot....

Just in case I don't make it back tonight.

Tomorrow is my first day at my school I'll be working at. Student teaching. :teacher: I am really super nervous and kinda sorta freaking out so please think happy thoughts, cross your fingers, say a prayer, whatever you're inclined to do for me tomorrow. I would really appreciate it.

JT:

This may be slightly different at my kids school because we are in a growing district that hires a lot of new teachers every year but...

My guess is that you will NOT be the only nervous teacher at the school on the first day (or even days). And remember the students will be a bit nervous also. By the time the students calm down and get in tune enough to notice any issues you might be having, you will have gotten your feet grounded your ownself so it will all be fine.

I said this in a MSN session and I meant it: I honestly think you will be a fine teacher. Remember you do have some past experience (working with kids on ballet) and you had the days in the classroom last Spring where you did awesome (once you learned to sit somewhat still -- ha!). You WILL be great PJ. Maybe not the very first day but you will calm down and get settled and then you will do an excellent job.

I'm sure the kids will love you. (Everyone else does -- remember? You tell us that all the time. ;) )

Good night Nutters! Sweet dreems!

(I just finished a night of DISing on dial up including some very picture heavy threads. It's not as bad as Cheryl whines about -- although I'm not restricted to a single phone jack in the bedroom either. ;) There are definitely some websites out on the Net though that were a pain in the rear to access without high speed.)

Good Morning Nuts!

People always tell me that country music is depressing. Gotta disagree on this one. Just what were you listening to? Classic country? Pop country? Any Kenny?
Well, it's not that country music is depressing so much as it's not as stimulating (to me) as rock. I was listening to what I would mostly call "pop country". And, as far as artists and such go, you should know from previous conversations with me that I listen to music and I know what I like but I often have no idea what the song title and/or artist is (pop, rock, or country). Only if I like a song a lot will I take the steps to ascertain more details about it. (Let me say "Thank God" for lyrics search on Google because I can normally remember lyrics although nowhere like nursebabe can.)

Speaking of remembering lyrics, has anyone else been watching "The Singing Bee" on NBC and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" on FOX? I would so rule at "Don't Forget the Lyrics" (at least when playing along at home). I also find "Don't Forget the Lyrics" to be the much more enjoyable show (in fact, I find it difficult to sit through an episode of "The Singing Bee").

I'm TIRED!!! I've been staying up until 1 or 2 in the morning lately, packing and ripping CDs to my Zen so I can pack them up and take them to my mother's. Then I have to get up and come here to the bad place. And it's cold this morning...so cold I had to run the heat in the car. My credit card is soon going to be run up - I have to pay for carpeting AND our trip to Disney (don't get me wrong, those won't be too bad - whatever money we get from the auction is going toward the carpet, and Louise will pay me back for her share of the trip, but it's a Disney CC and I want the rewards dollars!).

I think I'm going to start doing more surfing around for the trip. Something to look forward to!
