Mixed Marriage 2: The Conversion Continues..... now complete

Not only does my DH hit the snooze button over and over and over again. He also has his clock set forward a half an hour so he can somehow fool himself into thinking he has gotten more sleep. :confused3

Loving this report. Keep 'em coming!! :thumbsup2

Love the part about the rapper! Your DS is so lucky to have you. (Still would love to hear about him calling you mom!) Thanks for another great installment.

:) :)

It just gets better and better popcorn::

And thanks for pointing me to Utahmama's pre-pre-trip report! Between the two of you, I'm thoroughly intimated to write a trip report!!!

As always, I'll be patiently :rolleyes1 waiting for more!

Oh Mrs Twinkie,

I have so enjoyed you TR, and it makes me sad that I have never journaled
our trips. You have inspired me to do better this time when we go in Sept!

Thanks for reminding me that our little ones get big too soon! So many memories in all those tiny details!

Cheers to you!

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Oh my goodness... I think your writing about me!! Too too funny!! And my own DS is 16 and wayyyyy taller than me now. I look thru old Disney pics and sigh... :sad2: The first time the poor kids went was when he was 5 and had to endure the "pink castle". :scared: Great TR!! lovin every second! :hourglass popcorn::

I am a snooze button addict and can completely understand where your DH is coming from! I set my alarm 45 minutes early, and hit snooze every 9 minutes until I HAVE to get up. I tried to break this habit, and put the alarm clock on DH's bureau at the foot of the bed. Nope, now the first time the alarm goes off, I get up and MOVE the alarm clock to the foot of the bed so I can hit the snooze button with my toes. Pathetic...I know. However, when I'm in WDW, I'm up and showered on the first beep. Go figure :confused3

It is very understandable. When you hit the snooze every 7 minutes, it is like you got all that extra sleep instead of having to get up as soon the alarm goes off. :hourglass That way, you get to ease into actually having to get up instead of having it thrust upon you. It all seems very logical to me. :confused3

This is what I've been trying to explain to DH for years!! This is my logic too! I'm glad someone else understands me... :teeth:

Also part of my logic........ :rolleyes1

Anyway.... Back to the topic at hand...
TwinkieMama!! Loving this report!! Keep 'em comin girl!!

Moritmer, Mrs.BsMom, Jacksmom,Thinktink and all you other snoozers,
I understand that if you hit it once you feel like you got to sleep in but if you hit it every 9 minutes for an hour you have actually lost 6 whole minutes of sleep because you have to keep waking up to hit the thing. Anyway I have told DH that you understand him and he appreciates it! I guess it is just one of those things how cold-natured people always marry hot-natured people, snoozers marry early birds... it is part of what makes the world so fun.
Now the setting the clock forward thing... my mom does that and it never fails to crack me up how 10 minutes passes in the time it takes you to walk from my dad's side of the bed to my mom's.....does it really make you feel as if you have had more rest? I'll have to ponder that. oh and thanks to MI mom of 3 for coming out on the side of us non-snooze buttoners

solgent- I love hearing that your girls are such good friends. I hope my girls turn out that way. Interesting about the height difference, my SIL's twins also look a couple of years apart and they too miss the attention (or at least my SIL does).

MagicMe, jackdis, SoosieQ, riopooh and 6mouskateers-thanks for your sweet words :sunny: I really do bloom with such great cheerleaders :cheer2:

cjhinch and Miss Michelle and SleepingBeautyDreamr- thanks so much- I would write faster but my kids keep wanting me to play with them, read to them, feed them etc ;) anyway, I am glad you are enjoying it, suspense and all.

mytwinklestar-I can't help you with the addiction thing as I too am a DIS addict. Now that I am writing a trip report does that make me a pusher? a dealer? an enabler?

princess: Libbygirl- how can I top the wit of free swimsuits for life? I can't so here is a smilie for you cutie :cutie:

....(have you read the book Jurassic Park???? I did, summer of ’93, in a dorm building that was supposed to be completely empty… I was a day early for my summer job…. Suffice it to say the security guard and I had one of those moments where we are both screaming at each other

....(is the elephant a rapper?)...

.....Another great ride, another great CM, another chance to get our lil' elephant back to his homies...

:rotfl2:

I so love you Twink. Another fun post! I love Taboo and Catch Phrase. Loved your wake up call for your son and you DH answered it! I love the safari but the "get-there-early-while-the-animals-are-active" has never worked for us! SOOO glad you guys saved Lil' Red from those poachers. What a relief!
I know NOT to drink diet Pepsi and read your trippie at the same time! Huge spew risk!
Oh, I just started a new thread on "Welcome to DIS" called 'UTAHMAMA'S TOP 10 REASONS YOU'RE ADDICTED TO DISboards" and I mentioned you! Hope you likey! (sorry for the free commercial on your thread!)

Yours is absa-smurf-ly delicious!!! I'm gonna re-read all your stuff tonight because it looks like it's an insomnia night.

You are SO FUNNY! This is absolutely the best TR I've read -- Thank you for the "escape"! I think the reason there are so many people who are crazy about your story is because it is just so genuine ... I keep laughing out loud and can totally relate to so much that you are writing. I have two little boys (4 & 7 ) and your DS melts my heart. A girlfriend!?!?!?!?!?!? ACCCCCCKKKKKKK! Theres further proof that I need to get back to the World fast - before they get big! I'm addicted to your report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! popcorn::

This is dangerous stuff! I'm having way too much fun reading your TR TwinkieMama- it's always refreshing to find kindred Disney souls out there :goodvibes
I think my favorite scene thus far was the pre-dinner theater outside Chef Mickey's. I LOVE people-watching at the World!
And your addiciton to UG? TOTALLY understand it! I'm in the process of planning a Dec. trip and I keep sharing UG mantra with my mother - who has no appreciation for Bob's superior reasoning and intellect at all. :sad2:
Awaiting the next installment with baited breath... popcorn::

Are waiting for us to answer that question "What to do next" . Just kidding have fun with the kiddies we will wait. :)

This is like a Harry Potter Book. Each Chapter is better then the previous. Keep up the Great Trip report :cool1:

I am having SOOO much fun reading this - any chance of pics? Your report is so perfect for my project - can I pm you on my idea?

At that time, AK didn’t have as many attractions as it does today. DH and DS are not “show” people so I was going use my show credits at MGM. I wasn’t sure if DS would ride Dinosaur and I am pretty sure that “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” would be a no go. We were all excited about Kali River Rapids but I wasn’t sure I wanted to be wet yet… after all on this trip we had decided that cuteness was a priority thus no bathing suits. (Under our clothes.. to prevent the dreaded soggy undies) :rolleyes2

While I was pondering we went into a gift shop whereupon DH bought himself his first souvie- a plush Pluto dressed for safari. Yep- you read that right Mr. Why Do We Have To Go is buying himself, not his 6 year old son, a stuffed Disney character ($10.60). Methinks the conversion is almost complete. He, being a good parent, remembers to ask about Disney Dollars which they don’t have but they very kindly send us off to the place that does have them which is of course back at the park entrance. We hike back this time pointing out all the little details to one another. DH gets the Disney Dollars and has a moment of temptation because they are so darling. Who would want to spend them when they could be preserved for all time in a special acid free plastic sheath in a special 3 ring binder? No, Sweetie, these are for the kid and they are for spending not preserving! Get your own Disney Dollars if that is how you want to spend your souvenir allowance!
We present the $25 in genuine Mouse money to DS and explain that it is his to spend however he wants but when it is gone, it is gone and Mommy and Daddy will not be buying any thing else. He ponders the thought seriously, spends a lot of time looking at all the jungle/safari themed items and decides to save his money for later (Way to go, son! :thumbsup2 )

After our shopping expedition we decide to look at the animal trails- they are just wonderful! The landscape, the exotic animals, how close you feel… it is just too amazing for words. My favorite is when you are wandering through the ruins in India- this is a grown up dream for a girl who really wanted to live in the Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse. By the time we finish this we are hot- and maybe more than just a little grumpy. DS starts to whine and I must have had “that look” in my eyes because DH saved the day with a bottle of Sprite bought from a local cart (don’t have a receipt for that but don’t worry Budgeteers- I do have a misc food and beverage line item in my list of actual expenses so it will be accounted for …. (Yes I know this participle is dangling precariously but hey I like to live on the edge… sometimes)). We share our drink in a few millimeters of shade and I decide that it is time to brave the rapids. We do have to stand in a line fortunately this gives us time to use the plastic bags we have packed in the backpack to protect the camera, wallets, and Pluto etc. Unfortunately it also gives DS time to worry about how wild of a ride this is going to be.... :worried:

Skpping the Dinosaur, ITTBAB and all shows in the AK of 2000, should have gotten you in and out of the park in about an hour and a half. :teeth: Now three trips on the Safari make perfect sense -- not that it didn't before.

Does he like the rapids, does he like the rapids?!?!?! :yay:
