My family(DW, DD10,DS7,DD2) and I will be headed to our favorite vacation spot, the Magic Kingdom, for spring break from April 11 to April 18. We always go and get the florida resident discounts and stay at one of the Disney Value resorts. When I called I was told that all the rooms with the value rate of $79/night were gone but they can offer me a moderate at $104/night, which is very good. Unfortunately the only thing available is CSR. We have stayed there before and did not like it because of the distances from building to building and how far the food court and pools are, but I put a courtesy hold on it so I could at least have a ressie to fall back on in case nothing at the values came open. I spoke to my wife when I got home and she told me to go ahead and book the value at the regular rate ($104/night) and be done with it. I called this morning first thing and was informed that all rooms at the values were booked and I was stuff with CSR or upgrade to AKL for $184/night. We have always wanted to stay at AKL, but this is out of our budget.

I have a dilemna and am seeking veteran Disney help. I do noty want to stay off site for $89/night and not have the convenience of bus transportation, free parking, package delivery, disney pools and all the other great things that go along with staying on-site. I also tried to get the Dolphin for $139/night with the nursing dicount but it is not available for thosedays because it is peak season. Please help and tell me what I should do.  :upsidedow :scratchin :crazy2: :worried:

My first thought is to tell you to keep calling CRO every day, particularly first thing in the a.m. to try to see if a discounted rate opens up at the All Stars or Pop Century. You never know - we've been in such a situation before and kept trying and eventually got what we needed. However, all the while we had a back up ressie just like you do at CSR.

Now, we liked CSR. For a moderate it's our favorite resort. It is spread out but that doesn't bother us. If it were me, I'd pay $104 for CSR before paying it for a value resort. Try Casitas - it's close to the food court area...for the most part. Maybe if you keep trying another moderate will open up for the $104 rate - PO or CBR. You may like one of those better than CSR.

Now, if AKL is out of your budget, don't do it. Your vacation will be miserable if you're stretched financially. One year we had a hard time going due to money but went anyway and it wasn't good.

DO NOT stay off-site. No way. Out of the choices you're looking at here's my preference:

1) Book CSR at $104 - but keep trying to get Value resort at discounted rate OR keep trying to see if another moderate opens up since you don't really like CSR.

2) Book value resort at $104. I would pay this rate before paying $89 per night for an off-site resort.

3) Splurge and go with AKL (this would be my first choice for you IF it wouldn't stretch you financially...but if it will...don't do it)

4) Stay off-site (I would stay home first personally)

I hope you get what you want. Keep trying. Don't give up.

You posted this thread twice, and someone in the other thread said exactly what I was going to say, so I'll say it here! :)

Gives DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com a try. They have good luck securing reservations that other people can't. They might be able to get you a nurse rate at the Swan.

If not, then I say take Coronado Springs, and request a room close to the main building. :)

Good luck!
