Missoni for Target

I find it so amusing to read how so many people came on to post how its not there style or how ugly they thought it was. A little mean spirited I think. Trust that many on this board read about what some members are buying and you don't see us posting how cheap or tacky it is. Just an observation on my part.. I mean if you don't like it thats ok don't buy it or wear it. But I don't see the need to knock it. Either way it means more for us who want it. I guess.

On anothe note I found it even more suprising that there are all these actors and other notables complaing because they couldn't get what they wanted. yet they can most probably afford regularly prices pieces. I know I will keep my eyes out for the items I wanted and unfortunaly or fortunatly depending on how you look at it I'll break down and buy off ebay. I guess its good to know that if I can't find it in a store I can still find it lol.

I also don't really knock the ebayers. I didn't get into a store until 3pm and from what the target employees said people were waiting outside before opening and the racks were clear within minutes. Honestly I wouldn't have been waiting outside and I know I'm not going to fight with a mob for anything. So I guess its a case of early bird getting the worm.

At my local target they put up a sign saying they will not be restocking. So if your local store says otherwise you are lucky.

My search continues.

Whether I like the Missoni for Target look or not, retail gluttony just isn't my thing. I think that's what some people on this thread are sort of disgusted by, not even so much by the merchandise itself. Stories of things like people ripping stuff out of the hands of the Target employees or overloading their carts like there's no tomorrow are far more off-putting to me than all the zigzags Missoni can create.

Considering I wasn't responding or posting my comment directly to you. I'm not sure why you felt the need to asnwer it so personally. I didn't start the thread to discuss retail gluttony and was simply about if anyone else had found anything. I can only say Thank you for your contribution. I think we got it. You don't like the fashion and you were put off by stories about how other people were behaving. I still don't think that warented all the comments (not only by you but in general) about how people thought the clothes were ugly. I mean I really I don't care to be truthfull what other people like or don't like. But you don't see me trolling other threads to tell people about what they buy how ugly I think it is or how cheap it is. Really live and let live already.

I think people have different ideas about what is or isn't budge related and I see multiple posts on various threads by the budget police. truth be told we all have different budgets. What may not be valued or an acceptable or even reasonable reason for spending doesn't take away that for the other party involved it may very well be within there budget. I also dont think anyone on these boards should have to explain or justify why they find something to be a great deal.

:flower3: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you--just to explain that some people who are insulting the fashion (which actually I DO like, very much! I don't think it's "cheap" OR "ugly." I'll definitely buy a pair of the rain boots if I find one on sale someday!) are really only reacting this way because of the CRAZE over the fashion. You're right that it's not okay to troll threads and tell people the things they like are ugly, though. But you have to understand that this kind of a craze can leave a bad taste in people's mouths about a product.

I read through a lot of these posts, and the responses here on the budget board were a heck of a lot nicer than the ones posted on the thread I started on the community board, LOL.

I tried for nearly 4 hours to get on the Target website on Tuesday and was lucky enough to get the space dye sweater dress, the cardigan, and the rainboots. My friend in Louisiana was able to grab the last skinny scarf in the store for me, so that is on it's way too. :thumbsup2 I'm really excited. I wouldn't wear all the pieces together, but worn individually with other solid color pieces I love them.

That is the absolute truth.

I got the black and white sweater tank dress in L, the long black and white cardigan sweater in XL and the children's floral coat in a 4/5. If anyone wants them before I return them, please let me know.

I went to the Wilmington Target today and there were several things in the little kids area, but very little in the women's and bigger kids'. I forgot to check the shoes - too bad! I could use some new shoes, and I would like a pair of funky rain boots.

Wilmington is not known as being particularly fashion-forward, being a beach town, but the cashier told me that there were people lined up before opening on the day the line premiered. She said one lady bought $2400 worth of Missoni, and she had a couple more with totals over $1000. One man was sent in by his wife to buy nine pairs of shoes to sell on eBay.

I know I am showing my age, but the line reminds me too much of the clothes I wore in late elementary/early middle school, and the pictures from that time make me cringe. :scared1: My DD would probably love some of the items since she is big into the 1960s/70s look.

I looked last night as I was doing some grocery shopping & I saw the rainboots in my size. I didn't get them but they're cute. I would probably use them even in winter; for the daily walk to my garage, walk into my office through the snow trek. I wouldn't use them as snow boots per se but I bet they'd be ok if you were just getting from here to there. I might have to see if they're still there tonight.

[QUOTE also sometimes people buy it up, get remorse, and return the stuff. i have seen this happen and gotten the items on the clearance rack.[/QUOTE]

This is very true. I know I ended up returning about 1/2 of what I bought mainly because I wasn't sure what sizes were going to fit my kids. I made sure to return it the next day so that someone else could snap it up, lol! There was a bit of a frenzy in the store and I knew if I got the wrong size there was no guarantee that the correct size would be there tomorrow!

I personally love Target's mission of design for the masses. I haven't loved all of the capsule collections. I think a lot of the recent ones have been sized only for the very tall and very thin (of which, I am neither!). This one really hit the mark, though. Lots of nice long sweater coats, etc.... sweater dresses weren't too clingy. By the way, the sweater coat I did buy is really pretty thick weave, considering... I mean, I know it isn't Missoni quality (actually I have no idea, I own nothing Missoni), but it feels like other sweaters I have and I think it will hold up pretty well. And my kids just thought the stuff was "the bomb". My youngest insisted that I wash the dress and leggings I bought her so that she could wear them the next day and she looked so freakin' cute!

Had to go to the Millbury MA Target to pick up a prescription and decided to check and see what all the fuss is about, lol! If you live in Central MA you will be happy to know there is a great selection of shoes and accessories left. Adults and kids looked kind of picked over, but there was plenty to be had and I did not see anyone near the displays anytime I walked by them.

A few cute things, but not really my style. Glad I saw it though, lol! Happy shopping all!:goodvibes

Ladies check targets website right now!!! They have relisted a few items and added some new ones. I also spoke to my local store manager who said that some clothes would come back in to every store this week but no more shoes. He also said they were told they would only get one shippment and then the rest would be small amounts of home goods. So call your local store to find out if they know when there shipment is comming in.

Sorry guess I was a little reactive. I just think its such an awesome line and such a great deal.

I've been checking my local Target every morning since, I missed out on Tuesday morning. Target moved the kids clothing to the main display, that's now gone. Merchandise located there at this time is, remaining lingerie and any returns. I went Tueday around 9pm, after reading this board and everything was gone. I was surprised, as I don't live in a fashion forward community. There were a few socks left (no tights), makeup bags and hair accessories, some girls clothing, a few plates, computer covers, shoes and boots. The manager I spoke to Tuesday evening, said people were waiting for opening, like Christmas. Also, sale totals ran into the $1600 range. People grabbed everything; housewares, luggage, accessories. I'm waiting on new shipments, but doubt much will come in. It only runs for about a month. Ebay has 43,000+ items listed. Some of the items have 0 bids.:)

I did I find exactly what I wanted. I'm not spending one more penny lol. I hope this give some hope to anyone who hasn't been able to find stuff since I wasn't there for the store openings.

Ok so her is my tally so far.

1 pair of rain boots (sisters bday)
1 pair of the heels (niece xmas)
1 pair of the heels
1 sweater dress
1 black skirt (still waiting for shipment on)
1 black sweater (still waiting for shipment on)
1 tank with matching sweater (its the golden brown set. I love this set. the fiber quality is not the highest but it reminds me alot of wool sets that I have from italy)
1 purple scarf/gloves/hat set (niece xmas)
1 scarf/gloves set (sister bday they match the boots)
1 duvet set (still undecided I'm just not sure about the quality will make desicion by sat and if not I'm taking it back for return)
1 large glass swirl vase (still waiting for shipment on)
1 medium glass swirl vase (still waiting for shipment on)
1 glass swirl platter

Thats it I'm Missoni'd out!!

For anyone still looking I just got the shoes and vases on the site minutes ago. They have reposted alot of stuff and added new items. I went for the vases because I really wanted the lamp they have in one of the pictures but they said due to manufacturing issues it will not be produces. I already bought the platter and placed infront of a window it is beautifull how the light reflects all the colors. The colors on the glass are very vivid and its all hand blown so I figured the price wasn't bad. To be honest the pieces I got for myself are essentially black in color lol. So I think they can work with anything. I won't know about the sweater and skirt till I receive them if I'll keep them but once I have everything in I'll post pictures and let you know what I the quality level is.

Everyone has a right to post their opinion. I didn't see anyone being nasty about it or criticizing the opinions of those who like these items. As I already stated, Missoni is not my style, but if you want to deck yourself out head to toe in it, be my guest.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. The majority of their other designers were, to me at least, for teenagers/college aged kids and thin thin women. They have much more selection & options this time around. If they're smart, they'll use this model going forward.

You are right everyone is entitled to post an opinion. But joining a thread just to state that you don't like something or find it distatefull when that is not the dialog of the conversation is rude and encourages others to take threads down a negative road. Its simple ettiquette you wouldn't join a bunch of strangers who were enjoying something to tell them how much you disliked it in person and you wouldn't add your last statment directly to someone. Because in all social circles that would be seen as rude. I don't think that because we are online we should take a different tone with one another. I'm not here to tell anyone how to behave but please don't try to hide behind rude remarks and make it sound as if they are not.

Again fashion is subjectable so its ok not to like something.

Seriously, nobody said anything bad and it made a normal conversation until it kept being said that people should only comment if they agree. Then it became awkward. With the exception of people being called rude for not liking the line the thread has been fine.

I know Massoni is usually really expensive, is it usually really great fabric or something? I was looking at the girl's clothes and thought it was a bit high because the fabrics were about the same as what I usually got her but the prices were over double what I generally pay.
