Mission Space now tier 1 -ugh

In Epcot, Imagination and SE are fine tier 2 FPs.

I don't think GMR makes sense as a tier 1, though. Last year, I had booked TSM and Star Tours as our DHS FPs, and thanks to the tiering, I ended up with a throwaway FP to the Muppets (where the standby wait was 5 minutes and the preshow was almost over when we walked inside). GMR can get kind of busy at certain times.

Plus, they need to have non-scary, non-height requirement rides in the tier 1 pool too.

Yes.
Since EVERY GUEST (including kids) who makes FP+ advance reservations is REQUIRED to choose one Tier 1 choice and two Tier 2 choices,
there must be at least one non-height requirement ride in the tier 1 category.[/USER]

In the future Tier 1 will be:

A&E Ride
A&E Meet and Greet
Soarin'
Test Track
Illuminations

There's a 0% chance Test Track and/or Soarin moves to Tier 2. And there's a less than 0% chance that Tiers will be removed.
I don't disagree with you but I wonder why you say there's a 0% chance of them not taking a ride like Test Track out of Tier 1 (I would be someone who would LOVE it if they did)? I've always wondered why Tower of Terror is a Tier 2 when they could probably justify making it Tier 1. Guess I'm trying to understand how they come up with where the rides go within the Tiers?

Quite simple actually. Just answer this question:

If Test Track and Soarin were both available to book as FP+ (one was T1, one T2, doesn't matter which is which) what percent of on-site parties that didn't include a 2-8 year old girl book both of these at the 60 day window?

How many Soarin and Test Track FP+s would then be available at 30 days?

Maelstrom had a huge fan base, and was the third most popular ride in Epcot. It was also "child friendly", and will be even more so with the Frozen make-over. I think that the Frozen ride will pull a lot of riders away from Soarin' and Test Track no matter how the rides are tiered. For how long depends on how the make-over works out. Lots of people without young girls in their party love the Frozen sing-a-long. We just have to wait and see.

For our family the main draw to Maelstrom was the Norway movie at the end. It was our second favorite attraction in Epcot - we liked it more than Test Track. Without something similar to the movie, I just can't see the ride portion being good enough to outweigh our love for Soarin'. We will likely only ride it once per trip with FP, then only ride if the lines get short enough. But, again, we will just have to wait and see. We might totally love the Frozen theme.

My favorite part of the Norway ride was the forced march through the gift shops at the end. Especially when they have people blocking the escape hatch by the old FP machines. As someone with allergies, it was especially fun going through the perfume store, especially when the Laila guy was there.

With a third theater open for Soarin they won't need FT any more. then they add some double decker cars on TT and all the issues are solved.

Ugh! We've always picked a tier one. didn't realize this.

I wonder how many unused FP there are because of this.

Just one more thing about new FP that is dumb and inferior to the old system.

Frozen will definitely be Tier 1 at Epcot . .no way it can't be with the popularity it should see being "Frozen" and simply being a NEW ride at Epcot.

The Tiering system is awful, but it is pretty obvious why they have it at Epcot and DHS. There are only about 3 things WORTH taking a FP for at both of those parks. I think everyone falls into the category of looking at the Tier 2 fast passes and taking at least ONE of them because they are forced to (it will probably end up not being needed).

I am dreaming, but I still say that during DHS construction (and all this wait for Soarin' and Frozen at Epcot) . .they should just combine the two parks temporarily.
Free hopper from one to the other when you buy a ticket for either park .. and ditch tiering, but let you make Fast Passes at both parks if you want. If you want Fast Passes for TSMM, Test Track and RnR .. go for it.

They should then run express boats from Epcot to DHS (no stopping at the resorts).

i haven't seen less than 20 minutes on space ship earth with line wrapped around both sides in at least 4 trips since september

I guess every experience is different, but I've never had to wait on Mission:Space, whether visiting at peak time or not. Of course, I ride the chicken side so maybe that has something to do with it. ; )

Yes, but you see, that was when it was tier 2. Most people planning to ride it would use FP+. Which meant less people in the stand by line.

Now that it's tier one, people are less likely to use a FP for it. That will push more people into the stand by line.

Yes. Our last trip was pre-FP+. I don't know what to expect for SB and FP lines on our next trip. For example, hearing about lines for the People Mover really has me concerned.

they probably aren't getting as many people in that Pavillon. Sunshine Seasons quit serving breakfast.

Which, of course, guarantees that there aren't many people in the building in the morning. Silly silly silly.

This is most likely temporary due to Soarin being closed. Once Soarin re-opens and the new Frozen attraction opens they will likely rearrange the tiers again and move MS back to Tier 2.

That's still such an easy one to get on (despite the slow load). Don't waste a Tier 1 on it.

I think DH and I are the only people that don't like Test Track after reading this thread. :rolleyes1
