Mission Space Closing for Refurbishment this Summer

really disappointed in this... My youngest ds loves that ride but won't do EE or ToT. Was looking forward to doing this ride with him.

Total bummer. It's kind of a staple ride for us at Epcot. We'll be there right in the heart of the refurb, but will look forward to seeing it on our next trip!!

One more less ride to thin the herds during the Summer. Now all they have is SSE, TT, Nemo, JII, Soarin and FEA. This is why MK has some advantages. It has herd thinners. the more attractions you have the more you can spread the crowds. Counting in my head, MK has no less than 25 rides/shows. Add in other attractions, you easily have 30+.

Darn it!
@rteetz, in your estimation, what's the likelihood that this refurb is completed early? Does it ever happen?
Presume the activity center and gift shop will also be closed?

It has happened but don't expect it to. It's possible a refurb can be extended too.

I would guess the shop will also be closed.

Ooo, hope the rumors of new ride options turn out to be true. All five of us love the ride.

Right; OK; that's what I figured. Well, we'll be there until July 31st so we'll check it out one of our last few days JIC. Thanks for the reply.

Disney doesn't have a history of slowness with refurbs only with opening brand new attractions. Length of refurbishments really depends on the needs of the specific attraction.

Not trying to be snarky, but unless there's something wrong with Splash, why the 3 month refurb instead of the usual month long annual refurbs?

I believe in 2014 or 2015 Splash had a three month refurb. Every few years Splash does need a lengthy refurb like that because it is a water ride.

Epcot also has the other countries - most of which have films or a show of some kind, and Mexico has the boat.

From Touring Plans this shows the longest its been was about 2 months and always in January. Wonder why the September change and longer refurb. :confused3 Maybe im a bit more obsessed over this refurb because me and my family LOVE Splash and are sad to be missing it this go around.

This should be similar to that 2014 refurb.

September change was so another major MK attraction could go down in early 2018.
