Mission Space Chickens....

I love this thread - I'll have to show it to DH to prove that I'm not the only chicken in WDW! I get sick on the teacups, nevermind trying Space! Had a very harrowing experience on Star Tours last year. Now I know to go with my gut instinct and stay away from anything with speed, spinning, or the illusion of speed! The little dip in the beginning Pirates of the Caribbean is about as dangerous as I get!

As an aside, we chickens can go through the Mission Space gift shop (where the ride exits) and walk into the post-attraction area that has some really neat stuff to do while waiting for our loved ones who were crazy ...errr.....brave enough to ride!

At the very least, I think we need a WDW secret chicken society pin or handshake.

I don't do simulator rides like Star Tours or Body Wars; but I had heard that MS was different, so I really wanted to try it. My friend (who is extremely claustrophobic) and I had psyched ourselves up to do it! We went through the pre-show and got to our pod thingy. I was still worried about it making me sick; and my friend took one look at the pod and decided it was a no-go. We walked in one side of the pod and right out the other side!:hyper: Neither one of us could go through with it! I really do think I'm going to try it next time though.

We're going next week to see Three Dog Night at the food/wine festival. I can't decide what to do. I'm a big chicken! I do like Space Mtn and Thunder Mtn., but have never tried Splash Mtn. I don't like big drops. At Busch Gardens, I was very wobbly after doing the log ride. Body Tours & Star Wars both made me sick. On the other hand, they made dh sick and he loves ToT and RnRC which I 've never gone on. If I don't remind dh about this ride, he'll never remember anyway. I think I'll stick with Test Track and the wine festival!

Don't chicken out! I was there last weekend and I really loved the ride! I will admit that it was really eerie walking up to Mission Space pavilion and reading all the warning signs. I honestly was getting cold feet! I listened to the pre launch, then they take you to load in the pods, and I was VERY nervous, but I thought, there is NO way I am going to miss this, I have heard about this for months, I have to try it, even if I just go ONCE ! I loved it, the G-force was very noticeable but the view on your screen was awesome! Don't miss out, at least try it once!

Once I get over my Dumbo-Phobia then......NO ,no way, not ever and I don't care what I'm missing!

And you'll never get me on that cruise either, no matter how nice it is.

I get sick on an ESCALATOR at the MALL!!! I would never subject myself to that kind of TORTURE!

Now Alien Encounter was MY KIND OF RIDE!! Whoopee!!

We rode MS last week. I was very tempted to opt out at the last second...I'm very happy that I went through with it, though. My curiosity won over my fear.

IMO I am a super chicken! I hate roller coasters, thrill rides, heights, drops, and have a fear of flying. However, my DW really wanted to ride it and I didn't want to regret missing the experience with her. (Thankfully, she would have supported me regardless of my decision).

I saw some folks not looking so well around the complex. There are a dizzying amount of warnings all along the wait queue. Cast Members give many opportunities to opt out gracefully. The pods are small and tight. It was very intimidating! Initial fear factor was high. Disney did a great job getting me scared.

Fortunately, the ride was very smooth. I followed instructions and didn't notice the spinning and didn't get sick. I thought that Star Tours, Body Wars, and Dinosaur were MUCH rougher rides on my body. Once I got past the blast-off (10-15 seconds??), I enjoyed the rest of the ride.

My Advice: Spend your time on what you like. You'll have a great trip no matter what attractions you ride or skip. You'll still be the same great person who believes in magical fairytales. :)

I did Mission to Mars. and Wished I hadn't. I am not exactly a thrill seeker. I have never done RNR, or TOT, but I have done all the Mountains in MK. Body Wars and Star Wars doesn't bother me. But Mission to Mars killed me. I felt sick for several hours after. My DS 6 told me I closed my eyes - but I don't think I did. And I kept my head back. My DH - the thrill seeker - told me be felt really sick during "take-0ff" but it subsided, and my whimpy 6 year old - wanted to do it again. Now this is the kid that cried on Dino-Whirl!!! But DH said I scared him - I'm a whimp - but I try!!!!!

We went on that ride last week and LOVED IT!

My DH = This is a man who cannot do teacups, tilt- a -whirls or any spinning rides without getting sick. He did Mission Space 3 times with no problem. Keep your head back and look at the screen and you will be fine. There is no sensation of spinning, just g-forces pushing you back.

Me - I hate TOT and the feeling of falling. Spinning does not bother me. I had no problem with Mission Space.

Everyone is assigned a "job" and has to push buttons when instructed (to detach the rocket boosters, etc.) This helps keep you focused on the screen and I think it also takes your mind off any enclosed feeling.

I hope the warning signs don't scare too many people off, it is a grat attraction.

I am a big chicken. The only way I got on ToT was through peer pressure and the manta of "The Mouse Wont Kill Me".

If I bow to peer pressure from the DB, then I will NOT eat beforehand. Right now.... bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk

I am NOT a chicken, but I stopped doing "spinny" rides two decades ago ... one go round of getting off a ride and throwing up was enough for me.

This past summer I rode Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, ToT (skipped RnR since g'daughter was to small to ride), Star Tour, Dinosaur, etc., but there's no way I'm going to chance feeling ill for hours just to ride MS.

Nope, I won't ride the teacups either, LOL!!!

I'll be brief.

Mission Space isn't that bad.

The warnings make it sound like you're gonna die......not true.

If you don't go on Mission Space, you will be missing out on what I think is THE best attraction right now at WDW.
