Mission Impossible II-Updated p.15 #212~ The last day of our mini surprise trip.

Tim and I decided last night that we will tell them at the party tomorrow.

Stay Tuned!

Good choice, my opinion. I remember once as a kid, (yes, they had memories back then), my parents told me I had to go to the doctor for a check up, a place that I DEARLY hated! Then on the way there, they passed it up and we ended up at Riverview, an old, Chicago amusement park, one of the best in the world at that time.
And I was PI... ticked off!
I never got the "looking forward" part of the fun, plus the anxiety and trepidation concerning the doctor who always just created much pain had me alomst manic depressive. Wasn't worth it.

Besides. Probably to kids, Disney isn't that much of a step up from Michigan's Adventure. (Oh? We're not going there? We're going here?)

Keep up the great writing Monica, and yes, Tim and your family is in our prayers. :wizard:

Monica,
I wish I was closer so I could give you a big hug... Tim is in our prayers also.

There will be no meltdowns in December, unless we have ours together. We usually average 1 a trip, but since its only 3 of us this time, maybe not.

I am anxiously awaiting how the big reveal to the kids went...
I would never pick on your electronics skills, since mine are questionable at best.

Mony, I was actually being sincere! I would NEVAH poke fun, since I can barely even operate my cell phone! And I may or may not have also committed the camera-date offense a time (or 12) as well........:rolleyes1

Like I was even a smidge serious??????

Hi honey Mony! I'm reading but I'm behind. I'll be back (to quote our glorious Governator).

I'm glad you are here. Hurry back!

It was such a treat today when my oldest stopped me and said, "Mom, I'm SO excited that we are going to Disney World!" Which also included a hug.:lovestruc

YOU HAVE ONE WEEK!!!!!
:woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

We won't be far behind. Can't wait to see how the kiddos reacted :goodvibes

Now it's more like 5 days:cool1:

Decisions. Decisions. Oh Pay Day!

Rememeber that one?

The Game of Life, back in the day.

Up until Saturday we were still undecided. So at about 7pm on Saturday I DECIDED to let them know, or cave.

I started to create the treasure hunt/puzzle/reveal.

I first took pictures I had of each of the Disney World park icons. Like the castle, sorcerer Mickey’s hat, Mt. Everest, and Spaceship Earth. I made them distorted with an editing program.

The idea was they had to write each parks name in the spaces provided under the pictures. These were placed in envelopes, sealed, and hidden somewhere in the house. Each envelope told them what room to look in to find the next envelope.

The beginning envelope was a sheet of paper with dashes and corresponding numbers. These numbers had a letter value from the parks sheet. If they looked up all the numbers correctly, the hidden message would be revealed.

Just nod your head and pretend you follow me.

I have a great idea, I’ll just let the video explain it all. It’s my first time actually creating my own “movie” and using edits and such, so be nice.

It's under 3 minutes. I love some of the coincidences and Zach's humor just shines in this clip.

We are very excited as a family. Just like it should be.

And I am so happy that now when the kids ask me for something I can say, No, that's for our disney trip. I was running out of excuses.

Mony, that video was adorable!!!!!!!!! Loved it! You did a FABULOUS JOB!

Happy he kids are excited. I loved the "you're going to turn 4 in DW" remark, LOL

Loved the video! wish I could be that creative. How awesome that you got a great response. The last few times I tried to surprise my kids it was kind of anti-climatic so I have given up...glad it worked so well for you. :goodvibes

The same happened when we tried the surprise thing. The kids love to go to WDW and are always asking when we can go back but when we surprised them, :confused3

I've been away from the boards for about a week so my quotes are going to start from awhile back

Having a ticker that says 300+ days until a WDW vacation is depressing in some respects.

Look at my ticker :sad1:

I have actually been boycotting Chef mickey's for a few years now.

That makes me sad, I used to like Chef Mickey's

As for cape may, I first ate there when my niece was only 9 months old with my mom, DB, and DSIL. Chip (or Dale?) came to our table and fell in love with my niece. He knelt down and held her in his lap and rocked back and forth. He was at our table for a long time, just cradling her. A mom sitting near us actually started crying because she thought it was so sweet. Ever since then we have continued to have great character interaction, and like I said before the food is better IMO than chef mickeys.

This made me start to cry too. I guess we're going to Cape May for breakfast now

Anyways, I needed supplies for the game. We were taking the kids to the Tigers game against the Oakland A's for my son Zach's 10th birthday.

It was a special day. Not only was it Zach's Birthday, but it was:

Kids run the bases!
Meet the players!
and photo on the field day!

Zach is a huge Tiger Baseball fan and he's been begging us to take him to this game, and of course we were, he just didn't know it.

Yep, he's here too!

Thanks for sharing his birthday with us, that looked really cool. Love the Mickey statue.

The clothes packed in zip lock bags

What size bags do you use? I am so doing this next trip.

Speaking of my wonderful husband. He just came back from his apt. with the radiologist. Looks like his only option is to do surgery cause, and I said this to him, how else are we gonna know what we are dealing with if we don’t operate. We can’t just say it’s cancer. So, looks like another surgery is in his near future. Please pray for him. They see spots scattered on several ribs now. I really hope these are from when he was hanging christmas lights. He fell and cracked several ribs. Tomorrow we go and see the oncologist. I wouldn’t be surprised if we walk out of there with his surgery scheduled. Tomorrow is date night with dinner and a movie, on me.

He's in my thoughts and prayers

OMG - I cried when the kids finally figured out where they were going. That video was awesome. What do you use to put in titles and stuff? Very nice.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried watching the video. What a fun family! I'm so excited for you.

i loved the video!!!! such a great surprise. mal was sooooo excited! and i loved how when zach said that he told you epcot was his favorite park you said, "no, you didn't!" nip it in the bud, mama! oh, and i love how you created DH at the end! :rotfl:

5 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks Marita. Matt got to celebrate his birthday last time, now it's Mals turn. If we do this again, I'll have to make sure the dates fall between Aug 10th and 13th. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Great Video...that was such a great way to suprise them

We like puzzles and hunts around here. When they were little boys and they came home from school, I'd have "treasure hunts" ready for them.

Loved the video! wish I could be that creative. How awesome that you got a great response. The last few times I tried to surprise my kids it was kind of anti-climatic so I have given up...glad it worked so well for you. :goodvibes

When we went in June of 05, they were like cool. So, I've been there. I think with mine, they had to try it a few times to understand how they are supposed to react.

The same happened when we tried the surprise thing. The kids love to go to WDW and are always asking when we can go back but when we surprised them, :confused3

I wonder if the age has something to do with it as well.

Laura, you are going and that's all that counts. Remind me of that one day ok?
I use the gallon for the kids and 2.5 gallon for us. Yes, this time I am using them for DH and I. Lot's of the baby's stuff fit into a sandwhich size bag.

Thanks for thinking of DH and I have a vista movie maker program that came with the laptop. Once I figured out what I was doing, it was easy.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried watching the video. What a fun family! I'm so excited for you.

Cried? Really? I usually am the cryer. I can't go to a christmas program at the school without my eyes pooling with tears. It's really sad.

You can see his mind processing what they are about to do and it hit him that they weren't doing Epcot. Animal Kingdom is his favorite park, but just because we aren't going to Epcot this trip, it's going to be an issue.

Remember, he's the kids who sat at POP century with his head in his lap cause he couldn't bare to leave Disney World.

Now it's 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Cute video, Mony!!! I loved your ending slide :lmao:

. . . where you said reel soon!

So, you do get my jokes!

Glad you all liked the video.

My favorite part was when they figured it out without yet solving the whole puzzle and Zach told him to look up 36, and Matt being goofy didn't move fast enought and Zach yells T-H-I-R-T-Y-S-I-X! With emphasis. That's truely my Zach right there.

And when Mal ran up to her daddy to hug him and you can hear him say OW into the camera. She probably hit his scar. Yea, I'm twisted like that.

I'll probably have one more mission to report and then it's off to Disney World.

Someone please pull the plug on Faye.
