MISSION:Implausible

oh that's too bad. I hope he can still work. It would be bad if you had to postpone the trip.

Mickiecake, when you get time, head on over to the disAbilities section. They are a very helpful bunch when it comes to doing Disney when you're not quite up to par. Hope your husband feels better soon.:flower3:
Hey, I would have hugged him but wouldn't want to feel your redneck wrath;) :teeth:

Judi

Oh man, that is awful Mickie.

Hope he can still start work when he gets back.

Huge hugs to you all:grouphug:

Keep us posted

:wizard:

Yes it is exciting! Of course me being obsessed with working out the itinerary and second guessing ADRs is making the family crazy. LOL I can not wait. I bet being down to 11 days from going to WDW is unbelieveable at 109 days out you think it will never get here. :yay:

It'll get there for you, too! It just SEEMS like forever!! :thumbsup2
Mickicake,

Have a great trip, the first time is always the best. I am so sorry people have felt like they need to lecture you on your spending for this trip. It was none of their business.

We just bought DVC and I second guess that decision daily as our bill mount at the beginning of the year. I comfort myself with that we will have 50 years of Disney vacations.

I am so glad your hubby is going back to work, and a paid vacation to boot!!:thumbsup2

Your cakes are amazing and I would be calling you for my birthday cake if we lived closer. I just ordered a mickey ears cake for my birthday.

I can't wait to read your post trip report. We will be at AKV in May, so I want lots of details about the resort and activities there.

Have you thought about pin trading while you are there. My diskids are OCD over trading. :yay:

Man, DVC... I am drooling... :worship: Thanks for the cake compliments!

I DID think about pin trading... but since this will be our only trip, or at least the only one for several years, I decided against it. For the boys, at least.. :rotfl:

Have a great trip - Can't wait to read you TR when you come back as this PTR has been so interesting. Glad everything is working out for you.

Thanks disneyfanx3!! :lovestruc

Your grandmother sounds like my mother only it's funnier hearing you describe her. :crazy2:
Saw this and thought of you: :duck:

:lmao: :lmao: That smiley says is ALL!!!

I guess I am a bit late, lol, just found your report. Your posts are hillarious. I havent laughed this much in awhile. Sorry to hear you were blasted on another board, it amazes me how some people can be. The way I see it, until you walk a mile in their shoes.... I was also raised by my grandparents and I cared for both of them until they passed away. My family and I know the sacrifices it takes to care for loved ones. I hope you have an amazing trip. Your family deserves it! Enjoy every minute of it. I wll be waiting for a full report when you return and my dd would love some pics of your savannah view! She is a tad bit jealous, lol.

Also, I sent you a PM earlier asking about the coral reef divers, not sure after all the issues you have had if you are reading pms so I will ask here, how do you request a diver? I tried to through the wdwdine number and they told me divers and menus werent available which I know isnt correct, do you have the contact info for coral reef? Thanks!

I sent you a PM with the number and how I got our diver. I hope it works out for you! :thumbsup2

Just giving you a bump...my late night buddy...:goodvibes

Thanks Sharky! :surfweb:

Judi

Thanks for the heads up, I think I'll head over there now! Yuh, the redneck wrath is not to be trifled with! :headache: I am a very jealous DW, too... :dance3:

Ugh. What a week. May as well start at the beginning...

Many moons ago, before DH had found his reason for living (before we met, in other words:rotfl: ) he got a massive sliver of pressure treated wood in his foot. Went to doctor, doctor take out. No biggie. Fast forward 2 months,, he was having trouble walking from some random foot pain.

Back to another doctor, they did and X Ray, and lo and behold! there is more of the same wood in his little tootsie. So, they did a little in-house surgery to get it out. Only problem was, they put the novicaine in the wrong spot, so he felt the whole thing. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: He was a teenager at the time, and the doctor thought he was just being a baby. All that screaming was just for show, I guess. :confused3

So, as a result, he won't let anyONE or anyTHING touch his feet. Understandably so. Instead of a foot fetish, he has a foot PHOBIA. :rotfl2:

So. About 2 weeks ago, he was taking the trash out, and got something is his foot. The day before, I had broken a Snapple bottle by accident. I thought I swept it all up, but you know how it goes. So, we were assuming it was a lil piece of Snapple glass. I tried to get it out, soaked his piggies in epsom salt and warm water, then went at him with tweezers. No dice. Of course, it doesn't help when your home surgery subject jumps 2 feet every time you look like you are THINKING about touching his foot. :sad2: :sad2: Finally he says just forget it, it'll work it's way out. Which it usually does.

Well this past weekend, it REALLY started to bother him. He was limping, and complaining of foot pain. I took a look, and the area of the puncture has healed over, and swollen a little bit.

Well, guess what, phobia boy, you're going to the doctor tomorrow to get your foot fixed!

Poor guy, He was a nervous wreck. To the casual observer he probably looked like a rehab reject. Sweating, twitchy, grumpy. We were in the waiting room, and he was jumping up every other minute, saying stuff like "Jeez! Come on Already!!" Yeah. The lady with the baby looked VERY relieved when we went back. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So, they X Rayed his foot, and you will never guess what they found. No, it wasn't Jimmy Hoffa, it was

SHARDS OF PRESSURE TREATED WOOD

YES, the SAME wood from when he was a TEENAGER. The guy is 34 now! :scared1: :scared1:

Doc said there is lots of scar tissue, and he's not touching it with a 10 foot pole (can't blame him). So off to the podiatrist we go. THEY say, you gotta have surgery. Given his past history, the amount of scar tissue, possible infection, and phobia of mixing doctors with feet, they want him asleep, or at least very heavily sedated.

Poor DH is beside himself. He is trying not to show it, but he is scared to death. He is having the surgery in the podiatrists office Monday morning. He will be out of work on Monday, but he'll be going to work on Tuesday. He's worked it out with his boss that he will be cut boy (the guy who cuts all the wood). He will sit on his little stool and cut wood all week. He will ride an ECV at WDW< then upon return, he should be almost better.

What a pain in the buttocks. Poor guy, I wish I could make him not scared!

Your poor DH. Does he know you make his ordeal into a comedy here on the DIS? :happytv: You may want to sedate him for the weekend. I'm sure he'll feel better once it's over but I doubt he'll believe you.

Hey, without comedy, I'd be in the corner rocking and drooling. :scared:

ANd no, he has no clue what I post on the net. :rotfl2:

I am trying to make him feel better, but there's really not much I can do for the poor guy. The Dr. gave him an Rx for some anxiety meds. He is napping right now, but I'm gonna pop one in his head when he gets up. Hopefully that'll help!

Or maybe the doc meant them for ME... for putting up with him! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I'm glad they gave him some meds or you would have needed them! Definitely give him his meds or he will be a wreck waiting for Monday.

DO you ever get in one of those bad luck streaks where you say to yourself,

"Jiminy Cricket!!!! Will this EVER stop?!?!"

Thanks kind of where I am right now. Seems like one thing after another.
I just wanna go to Disney! World, leave me ALONE!! :surfweb:

The other day, I had to go to DMV to renew my license (it expires next week). Now, I had tried to go the week before Christmas and do this crap, but while we were there my wallet was stolen. while I was in line, leaving me with no renewal $$$. I know, I know, zip my purse. Shoulda known better.:sad2:

Anyway, we went to the DMV, and I actually CRIED b/c the renewal went off without a hitch! I have become so accustomed to everything being an ordeal! The lady at the window probably thought I was he kind of person who lets ONE of her personalities steal their OWN wallet from the OTHER personality!
:dance3:

DH is determined he won't use an ECV while we are at WDW. He doesn't comprehend the amount of walking you do every day. I am not going to push him, tho. Let him suffer if he wants to. I have a feeling that, by day 2, he will be happily rolling along, laughing at us b/c our legs are tired!! :rotfl2:

And now Ashe is saying he doesn't want to go to WDW!! Oh, reason, you say? He has no REASON, he just wants to stay here and play video games.

Truthfully, I think he is nervous about the plane and rides, etc./. He is just a nervous kind of young 'un. :scared: I told him we wouldn't make him do ANYTHING he didn't want to, other than ride the plane and go to WDW!!

Once he gets there, he'll have so much fun, but he is just a HOOT trying to reason with me, on why he should stay home!

What is it with men? They want to be tough and won't listen to us. He'll be sorry.:lmao:
I'm a mean mom, I would say "you are coming with us, there is no choice until you have a job". Of course I would want reassure him the trip is safe. Would he fall for the line "Mommy wouldn't let anything happen to you"? :flower3:

Aww.. he'll be okay.

I'm mean, too.. he is going with us, and that's the end of it. And, I have told him that, SEVERAL times.

He is a little debater. He argues and argues and argues until I get fed up and take something away or send him to his room. THEN he argues about why he hadn't done anything wrong to get in trouble :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have tried many tactics.

the "just chill.. it's gonna be fun! We're gonna do/see this and this and that" talk

the "I would NEVER let you gut hurt, you will be with us the whole time" talk

the "We're NOT going to get upset if you don't want to ride anything" talk

the "airplanes are perfectly safe" talk

It was about then that I started to get tired of all the talking. So now it has progressed to

Ashe! I TOLD you the animals in the savannah CAN'T get into our room at night!

Ashe! I TOLD you one of us will stay with you if you don't want to ride!

Ashe! I TOLD you, characters are NOT giant robots! (he is convinced they could run amuck and hurt little kids if they step on them)

No! You do NOT have to get their autographs if you don't want to!

YES! YOU ARE GOING! YOU ARE RIDING ON THAT AIRPLANE! I SUGGEST YOU DON'T FORGET YOUR TRASH BAG PARACHUTE! YES! YOU ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!

:sad2: I'm TELLING you, the kid is full blown OCD! My grandmother always told me that I was too smart for my own good. I always thought she was crazy to say something like that. Now I know she wasn't!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and ya wanna know what started this 2 day "I don't wanna go to Disney" mess?

I made info tags to put on their fanny packs in case they get separated/lost. :sad2:

(which has never, ever happened!)

Sorry to hear about your hubbys injury, if it were me, I would be talking to the doc who did the surgery the first time, he should be paying this bill too!

Hopefully Ashe will start feeling a little more secure. It is amazing what a childs imagination can come up with, huh?

Poor DH.....

His original dr needs to foot that bill..but he probalby retired by this time:rotfl2:

Hope his foot mends quickly:goodvibes

Poor Ashe...Kids have such a vivid imagination.

Once he calms down and knows he is going to be alright, I am sure he will have a blast:cool1:

The doctor that left the wood in his foot was in connecticut (DH is from Branford).

DH has had foot pain off and on for years, but we thought it was just due to his job. On the X Ray it looks like a smallish splinter. maybe 1/2 inch long. From the way he and his mother tell it, the original injury was pretty bad, beginning with an ER visit and ending in the botched surgery.

But he is ok, just sore. He can walk, but it starts hurting if he walks TOO long. As for the procedure next week, they are just going to sedate him. The doctor said it should only take about 10 minutes, b.c the splinter isn't very deep. So he will essentially just have a good-sized cut on the bottom of his foot after it's over.

He gets to be cut boy for a week, then roll around WDW for a week... :thumbsup2

Ashe is already feeling better about the trip. I just think it's so funny, the way he reacts to stuff. It's like he's stuck in his own head, sometimes. :upsidedow

Oh... both the boys made honor roll :thumbsup2 Yea!

That is great the surgery won't be that bad./

WTG go boys for getting on the honor roll!!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Well... I am going to Walt Disney World in a week. This time next week, we will be at AKL.. unwinding after the long day flying, then at Epcot.

We will have marveled at our Coral Reef dinner diver pronouncing "Nemo & Friends Welcome the Turner Family to Walt Disney World"

I just can't believe it. I think... it ALMOST feels real. I keep getting butterflies, and almost teary eyed, if THAT makes sense?!?!? :sad2:

It's a dream come true. :cloud9:

There's no other way to describe how I feel right now. I never thought this would happen.

If you had told me one year ago today, that I was going to be going to WDW, having this amazing vacation, eating at amazing restaurants, staying at a beautiful hotel, with nothing and nobody to worry about... well... I probably would have patted you kindly on the head, and walked away. :upsidedow

I just can't believe it's REAL.

the closer it gets, the realer i feels for sures...

Are you having trouble sleeping now?? like in the commercial??:rotfl2:

That is going to be so awesome at the Coral Reef with the diver. We ate there for the first time on our last trip and it was wonderful!

I'm so happy for you Mickie :goodvibes
