We have been to Disney in Jan (late), Mar (long ago), May (often), Jun (this year, through 7/2), Aug (through Labor Day), Oct (often), Nov, Dec (early).
Our preferences and reasons:
1) Best Weather May (not summer hot, little/no rain)
2) Second Best Weather Oct (compared to May - same temperatures, a little more precipitation), depending on the week, smaller crowds (than May)
3) Best Weather if you dont care about pool time Dec (early) (sunny, 70s, low precipitation), Christmas decorations, low crowds
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Until our children started middle school, we vacationed during school weeks to maximize weather and minimize crowds. And we loved it. Since middle school, we have been vacationing in August, since NY schools let out the 3rd week of June and that would overlap with July 4th crowds.
This was the first year we could get 2 weeks in June and get out before 7/4, and the weather had decided advantages over our typical August trip weather:
1. Cooler not by much, but you didnt break into an instant sweat the moment you stepped oustide.
2. Dryer by a lot. We are used to a predictable 30-60 daily rain shower in August around 4:00 pm. Last year was exceptionally rainy, but even in lighter years, we always rely on ponchos. This year, in June, I didnt wear a poncho once. It sprinkled a couple of times so lightly, I didnt even worry about my camera. It felt downright liberating!
3. Breezier there was almost always at least a small breeze. In the shade you could actually cool down a little.
Since both our children will be in the same high school next year and it lets out the first week of June (as opposed to August) we are definitely looking forward to returning in June next year.
