I usually don't write such posts, but this is another local crime that has bothered me since this woman was first reported missing at the beginning of the year.

Just announced on a local news program - A women's body has been found inside a home that had burned. It has not been confirmed (10:33pm) that this is Miriam, but apparently the clothing on the body matches that which was described as being what Miriam was last seen wearing.

Miriam Acevedo has been missing since Christmas eve. She is two months pregnant. The investigators have just gotten a warrant and are searching this particular home in Reading as I type. For the family's sake I hope it's her, but it's so sad for it to end this way if it is Miriam.

I'm sure the family was hoping to find her alive but if this is her, at least they will have some closure.

So sad.

I'm going to bed and there hasn't been a confirmation that it's her, although the evidence that seems to be presented is leading them to believe it is. :(

I'll update in the morning when I turn on the local news.

Oh gosh. If the clothing matches, this could be her. I feel badly for her children. Poor woman seemed wayward (pregnant/out on X-Mas Eve at a bar with a toddler at home)to begin with. I have read reports that she was arguing with a man in the bar she was at. I don't feel safe in certain parts of Reading (think ROC area) in the daytime, let alone at night.

I hope she has just "taken a break" from life and turns up alive somewhere, but I know the chances are slim :sad1:

Body Identified
Body Found inside Vacant Home Identified as Missing Berks County Woman (WFMZ) 69 News has learned that the body of a woman found inside a vacant, burned-out home in Reading has been identified by family members as that of 36-year-old Miriam Acevedo. Reading Police officers were sent to the home on Locust Street around 6:30 Thursday night. The man who found the body and called 911 tells 69 News he had seen Acevedo's picture and knew right away it was her. An extensive search for the pregnant Cumru Township woman had been underway since Christmas Eve when she was last seen arguing with a man outside a bar on Lancaster Avenue in Reading. 69 News was with Acevedo's family at their home in Reading when they learned of the news that her body was found. Acevedo's 17-year-old son identified a picture of his mom's body at police headquarters early Friday morning. The coroner must still make a formal identification and determine how she died. An autopsy is scheduled for later today. Be sure to watch 69 News Sunrise starting at 6AM for the very latest on this developing story.

That is so sad, I have been watching this on the news as well. :sad1:
