Missing Gift Basket

Hello ----this is Shirley --first I want to say that DCL does take extra steps to make sure that each items that are either ordered from them or ours, are handled very well -- as human nature goes, sometimes mistakes do happen and sometimes, unfortunalty there are dishonest folks that will keep something that they are not intitled to, but again I must say DCL does its best to make up for others dishonestly. I feel super bad, especially when it is children's baskets that are involved but DCl does work with me to try and resolve any and all problems. I had 4 children's totes disappear about 3 years ago - not only were they very expensive, but for children young enough to not understand someone's dishonestly - one was for a wish child - all the totes were delivered to the wrong room and signed for - at that time DCL did have everyone sign for their packages so they would have a back up and I understand that they still are suppose to have signatures for gift baskets, flowers etc so that back up information is there to go back to. If you are not signing for your items, then I am hoping someone from DCL will recognize this is not being done. I still believe that, for most part, folks are honest and good. The very few that aren't will have to realize that its what we do on this earth, does come back to us whether it be bad, good or indifferent.

Two years ago November my parents and I took my 5 yr old nephew on the cruise and my sister ordered an awesome basket from Shirley! She got to tell her exactly what we wanted in it. My sister even mailed a DCL italian charm, the boat that looks like the Magic. When we got to the room and saw the baskets we were about to call and say they weren't ours, but luckily we had our cells and called my sister so her son could talk to her. They were AWESOME!!!

Just wanted to say that what happened with the basket missing is not the norm on DCL..I saw Shirley today and she will of course stand by any product she has delivered to the ship and I think deserves the benefit of the doubt.. Shirley is a unique person who cares about every little detail to ensure you - the customer are happy with her products and services she and Norm provide..DCL should have the rooms sign for thier delivery through thier host or hostess...Again I can not over-stress my admiration for Shirley and the amount of work that goes into her gifts. I do also order a gift from DCL(Iron Hose) and have been very pleased with thier gift also.. IMHO* Carry On McDuff!!

It sounds like it would be helpful if DCL reinstated the policy of having people sign for everything, including gifts from outside parties. Then, at least there would be some record. It's sad that there are people who would keep a gift that isn't theirs...that is the same as theft. I suppose it could be a mistake, but if not, then shame on them. We have ordered baskets from Shirley in the past and she does an awesome job. I think it is a fairly uncommon problem, but knowing that doesn't help when you're the person it happens to, especially when it's a child's basket.

Amen to Shirley and the people's posts that followed. I have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Shirley and Norm this past January. They made a beautiful basket for my son who was coming off chemotherapy. Smiles were far and few between during this rough time but he felt extra special to see the basket that was made just for him. "That" smile was priceless!!!!

We stopped back at The Perfect Gift after the cruise to personally thank Shirley. I thought my son would never let go of her...his hug lasted for what seemed like hours lol. He told her he was going to steal her from Norm!!! :rotfl:

Trust in Shirley and Norm. I hope you don't let this isolated recent incident hamper your decision in ordering from her. Shirley does her absolute best in making things how you like and delivering them. This is the first I have ever heard of this problem. Shame on the family that didnt return the basket to the owner. Surely they knew that they didnt order the baskets and must've read the card.

On our cruise in November we ended up with the gift card for another couple's REAS basket. :earseek: We had ordered the REAS package but were concerned that maybe they hadn't gotten their goodies.

My DH & I stood in line at guest services to make sure that the couple, who were celebrating their 50th anniversary, got their basket. It only took a few minutes to make things right. :cool1: I just don't understand people that won't do the right thing, especially in the Disney spirit that is everywhere on the ship.

I plan on ordering baskets from Shirley for my DH and my gal pal, who will be cruising with her family, on our 'Jersey week cruise next year. :love2: I think it's a great way to add a special surprise to your week!
