I do understand that beauty pageants have long been controversial. One contestant in Santa Cruz, California, made it to the finals until she walked across the stage with a huge necklace made of meat and a sign which read "Pageants degrade all women." I figure that all of the women entering these pageants must have their reasons so I would want to be supportive of my daughter if she chose to enter.
Has anyone here ever participated in a beauty pageant? What was your experience like?
I don't believe so, they said Miss Michigan was the reining Miss America. Miss Indiana was I believe 1st. runner-up.
I don't recall Miss Indiana winning before. When I was attending Ball State University (Muncie, IN) in the '60's a girl from Ball State was Miss Indiana and finished like 2nd runner-up in Miss America. I was in a couple of classes with her. I believe her name was Eileen Smith.
Miss Indiana was totally beautiful. She was my favorite and I was tickeled she won. I also liked Miss California and Miss New York (although she done horrible in talent).
