Surely I can't be the only one who is sick right now!

This thread is for anyone feeling under the weather... flus, cold, viruses, you name it. I'm sure my family is sick of hearing me complain, so here is a place we can commiserate.:rotfl:

I've been sick since Wednesday. Went to the doctor on Thursday to get tested for a strep infection, but haven't heard back yet. I think I got about 4 hours of sleep last night because I can't swallow, I've got a massive headache and I can't stop shivering even though I got the heat cranked up. I don't think I have strep because now my sinuses are bothering me like crazy and my nose is all stuffed up.

I've been taking Advil, gone through about four packs of Halls, been rinsing my throat with Novo-benza-somethingorother that my doctor gave me, trying to drink as much as possible, etc. Hoping to kick this thing soon!

I know it's nearing the end of cold and flu season but I thought there might be some other miserable DISers out there? Come on in, grab a spot on the couch and a cup of tea with lemon and honey.

I'll join you, though my misery is starting to come to an end. I hope you start to feel better soon!

Went to WDW last week and brought home a LOVELY souvenir in the form of a really nasty cough. Believe me, I know it could have been worse and I could have picked up the infamous stomach bug, but I've still felt pretty crummy. It's a dry cough and is showing no sign of going away. I've been waking up at night to cough for 30-45 minutes before I am able to fall back to sleep. Cough medicine is a joke and Nyquil got me through some of the worst nights, though last night I didn't use any and didn't need it, so I think I'm working on a road to recovery.

Oh and the best thing (for my DH) was that I lost my voice for 4 days. I'm still raspy and if I say more than a paragraph at a time, my voice begins to crack like Peter Brady.

Oh, I'm so sorry you got sick at WDW. Such an awful place to be under the weather!

Not being able to sleep at night is just the worst. I've found the only thing that helps me when I have a dry cough is taking a spoonful of honey. Weird, but it works most of the time. Coughs are so tiring though!

I hope you continue to feel better!:goodvibes

Day three of suffering gallantly through a sore throat. I wil NOT get sick! I refuse!

Count me in! I've got some sort of cold, and it's making my asthma absolutely miserable. Being pregnant, there's very very little I can take so I'm basically roughing it out. It took the ER doc to convince me to take the breathing meds I actually need, even though you're not supposed to take them pregnant, because 'if you're not breathing, your baby isn't breathing'. So now I'm just hoping he doesn't come out with 3 arms or one giant eye or something. :guilty:

This seriously sucks, though. Between peeing 8 times a night, not being able to sleep on my back, coughing, and general pregnancy discomforts, I don't think I've gotten more than 2 hours sleep a night for the last week. Let's just say I wont be tooo upset if this guy decides to come a little early.

Can I join the pity party? I'd been battling a sore throat all week and it finally culminated in a chest and head cold yesterday.

I don't know why, but when I took Robitussin and Sudafed, it must have interacted with my antidepressant because it gave me the really bad shakes. :scared1: I cut out the Robitussin and the shakes went away, so apparently Sudafed is okay to take.

Aww, bless your heart, that sounds miserable. :flower3: I hope you get over this soon.

Have you considered using a neti pot? There are no drugs involved, you just use a warm saline solution to rinse out your sinuses. After you do that a time or two, you'll be breathing better in no time. I know it's gross, but once you get used to it, it's not a big deal at all.

No cold s/s here, or a sore throat. But does this count:

I pulled a muscle in my back/neck somehow. Missed 1 day at work, and suffered thru the rest. The Dr. gave me 2 muscle relaxants. One makes me sleep, so I can't work. The other doesn't make me sleepy, but I get so sick to my stomach after taking them. The pain WILL NOT LET UP, and is giving me terrible headaches.

Hope everyone feels better soon :flower3:

MushyMushy, do you mind sharing more about the neti pot? Can you get them at drugstores?

Lots of nastiness going around here. DS has been sick since last Sunday. he missed a whole week of school. On Monday, 8 kids of his class of 21 were missing!

He's better today finally. DH got sick Tuesday, missed Wed. at work, and dragged himself back on Thursday and Friday. He's still not feeling well.

So far....I am OK!

This is the kind I use http://www.sinucleanse.com/ and I've found them at Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens. There are also other brands, and I'm sure they're just as good. The pots are plastic, but I've also seen ceramic pots in health food stores.

I swear by these things. Too bad I can't get my family on board. They're all too grossed out by it. And not to be TMI or anything, but it's not like there's a ton of snot pouring out with the water. It gets all diluted so all you see is the water.

I had a very long appt with a DO once, as he figured out the least harmful medication for asthma I got while pg. Ended up with albuterol and a steroid. the steroid, he said, would likely help baby's lungs be more mature, and the albuterol's big risk is when taken BEFORE the 2nd trimester. Because I believe that knowledge is good, I'll tell you that the risk of albuterol in first tri is cranioschisis and higher incidence of cleft palate/lip...seems it interferes with the coming together of the sides of the head, but that's in the very beginning. (and it's also a risk of clomid, interestingly) So you're in the clear for that!

We have had the creeping crud. I've seen the same symptoms get diagnosed as various different things on the dis recently...someone's doctor considered it flu and went heavily into treating for that...someone else was dx'd with strep withOUT a test and treated for that, someone else was negative for the strep test but was given abx prescription for if it didn't get better in several days. Kind of a joke, actually, how the same symptoms can be diagnosed and treated as several things (and people wonder why some of us trust the Dis more than we trust one solo doctor).

For us it's followed a very definite arc of illness, including the heavy yearning for Anything With Lemon. Even my 4 year old got that craving, and he has lemon in his water right now.

I was sleeping with a fleece blanket under the sheets and heavy comforter, with two microwaved rice-filled socks, at one point, and was still shivering. DS has been nearly under the covers for a few days, and he *never* does that.

Poor hubby took 4 days off; one day to help me (when I get feverish I get completely delirious), then 3 b/c he got sick, but he had to go back, and he's been so miserable.

But today he said it's starting to lift, so that's good. DS's cough is better today, I have almost no cough, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

OOOH-Just the place for me...last week the kid comes home from school puking, this week another kid has the flu and, I pulled a muscle in my leg and I can hardly move...I have had it! That's all.

We have had a time of it too. My Mom & Dad just got back from a 10 day cruise and the came home sick, for a week now.

My three children have all been sick, with my son being the worst. He missed three days of school last week, went Thurs & Fri, and is on the sofa with a fever right now. Bless his little heart. He finished his antibiotic last night so we may be headed back to the Dr.

My other two have had sinus infections, so no big thing there. I just want my son to get better, although it has been very quite in the house. :rolleyes1

Here is some healing dust for everyone!!:wizard:
