Miscalculation?

Hi!
I was contacted last night about the BCVs and I think I may have miscalculated the 20% down payment?
She said that the selling price for 300 pts is $22,500 (which is at $75 a point). When I asked about the $5 discount she said that yes I could apply that ($1500) towards the down payment ($4500) so the dp would be $3000. I put down $500 and owe $2500.
But I thought that the selling price would be 300 x $70 ($21,000) the dp would be $4200 minus the $1500 or $2700 minus the $500 I put down and I owe $2200.
Am I right or did I miss something somewhere? She's faxing the papers to me today so I want to have my facts straight when I talk to her tomorrow.
Thanks for your help!

You deducted the $5/point twice. The price is $75/point. You can take $5/point off OR free nights at a WDW resort.

So the price is 300 x $75 = $22,500. 20% down is $4,500.
Less the $5 discount $4,500- 1,500=$3,000 minus your depost $500= $2,500.

When you did not take the free nights and you opted out to take the $5 off do you still get your 300 pts for this year? I did not realize you could take the $5 pt off the downpayment. I think my guide said if we took the $5 off then we could not get the 220 points for the year.

We are purchasing 220 pts (financial paperwork in the mail to us). How much would be the downpayment be?

220 pts at $75=$16,500 less 20% is $3,300.
220 pts at $70=$15,400 less 20% is $3,080.

We put down $500 dp.

I really don't know if I would have gotten points this year because my guide already knew that we had a trip planned in June and we wouldn't be able to use them anyway since the BCVs wouldn't be open.
She did mention the banking so I assume that after everything is ok'd then I could bank the points for next year. That reminds me that I have to ask about the use year! I guess it would be February.

Minybear, that is exactly what we did. We bought 150 points, took the $5 off per point, which gave us $750 toward the downpayment. We then added the $500 which made the 10% required. We didn't have to give up any of this years points at all. We're planning a short trip in OCtober and then banking the rest! :D

Thanks. Looks like instead of paying $2800 for the rest of the downpayment. I can save the $1100 and pay only $1700 for the downpayment.

When my husband comes home we will discuss this and then call my guide to change.

Hi everyone,
I have just recently learned of the new BCV's. We are planning our trip for next Spring Break ( April 12-19) to Disney. I had thought that we would try to go rent from a DVCer for OKW, but now my curiosity is up about these villas. Would there be any possibility that someone would rent out a studio unit that they just purchased? About how much would these villas cost in points for that time? I am probably shooting for the moon here :) Thank you all in advance for your suggestions and advice!

Sincerely,
Terri

The point cost is the same as for VWL or preferred BWV rooms. At the 7 month mark, all DVC owners can make reservations at BCV so you might possibly be able to arrange a rental. I am assuming you are talking about April 2003. The BCV doesn't open until July.

In 2003, April 12 is Magic Season -- 14 points weekdays and 32 points on Friday & Saturday. The rest of your trip is in Premier Season -- 19 per night weekdays and 43 points for Friday & Saturday nights.
